I've seen the term 'futa' be used to refer to any chick with a dick, regardless of whether they have a pussy. Under this logic, Etheryn counts. Personally, I prefer it that way since otherwise it'd be redundant to herm (or at least femherm) and we'd have no generic, single-word term for 'chick with a dick'.
I don't think that's doing to happen, considering how long resolve and resolve-based or related things have been in the game. Now, I'm like 95% certain that I've seen one of the higher ups (maybe Savin, maybe Fen, maybe even someone else, I'm not sure) basically just straight up say "Whatever the next game we make after this will just not have tease/lust combat because it's just such a pain" (paraphrased), but I don't think it'll get removed in this game.
Even without keeping up with developer comments, I'm definitely getting "We put it in but we deeply regret it" vibes. Certainly it would be a shame to scrap the whole thing at this point, so I think you're right, it's probably staying.
But it might be a while before someone starts working on it (i.e. nerfing Song of Splendor and adding a bunch of different, viable Lust powers in).
Hermaphrodite in japanese is futanari. It's literally the same thing, just in different languages. Don't confuse people anymore.
And Etheryn is not a futa, she's a half-sexed.

Ah. I forgot about that term when I was writing that post, though I've mostly only seen it used to refer to those without pussies.
'Hermaphrodite' comes from Greek mythology; he's the son of Hermes and Aphrodite, who got fused with a nymph (because she requested some other god to be with him forever, and Greek god being Greek gods...). The term is also used in the scientific community (specifically, biology) to describe individuals or species who have both male and female genitalia over the course of their lives, though I'm not sure if that definition applied to Hermaphrodite himself (and it definitely doesn't apply to any known humans). (It's also an outdated and offensive medical term for intersex.)
IIRC, 'futanari' means 'dual form' and in the English-speaking world seems to be much more common than 'hermaphrodite' in porn communities but doesn't pop up much outside them. And yes, people have used it to refer to non-hermaphrodites e.g. on rule34.xxx, there are currently over 13,000 images tagged 'futa_sans_pussy', which is nearly 5% of the over 273,00 tagged 'futanari' (which includes all variants e.g. without balls, without pussy, full-package), and I wouldn't be surprised if the actual number was higher due to untagged examples.
So even though the original intent was for futanari to be a synonym/translation for hermaphrodite, an argument can be made (and is currently being made, by me) that it has since evolved into something different. That kind of thing happens with language all the time.
Depends on which definition of futa you're using. If it's 'hermaphrodite' (like you're arguing), then no; if it's 'chick with a dick' (like I'm arguing), then yes. Calling her half-sexed is unambiguously correct, but that's a setting-specific term, so it's disingenuous to say that we can't call her a [insert generic term for 'chick with a dick' here].
According to some old patch notes I remember seeing, it was the Eternal Delusion. Somehow. It's a ranged catalyst that does 20 Mind damage so I'm not sure exactly how that would mess up Kasyrra, but apparently it did.
The very fact that the tag is specified "sans_pussy" suggests that the default state is with one, yeah? That would seem to go against what you're saying here.

I don't think it contradicts my argument. Having a default state does not imply that other states are invalid, unless it directly contradicts the definition of the term it's applied to; in this case, futanari, whose definition seems to vary between the individuals in this argument. I personally think it's similar to maleherms being a type of hermaphrodite despite not being the default type (which is femherm).
Besides, one could easily apply the exact same argument (i.e. 'it specifies a particular variant and is thus not the default') to both the "futa_sans_balls" and "full-package_futanari" tags, and that would leave all possible variations of futa as 'not the default state'. My point here? I dunno, I'm tired and trying to cover all my bases.
Simply making a statement without arguing for it, or addressing my arguments against it, isn't going to convince me; at least provide some evidence to support it.
Speaking of which, now that I've done an online search for the definition of futanari, it seems I am indeed in a minority here; Wikipedia, Wiktionary and at least two other dictionary/definition sites all use the term 'hermaphrodite' when describing it. However, I don't think that necessarily invalidates my PoV completely - there are several points that could potentially be used to justify a slightly broader definition:
- Wikipedia says it "is also used in a broader sense for androgyny"
- It also says that "it refers almost exclusively to characters who have an overall feminine body, but have both female and male primary genitalia (although testicles are not always present)"; note the 'almost', which implies that it can be used to refer to something else, but that only happens rarely
- It also specifically mentions gender-changing, ambiguous gender and cross-dressing in reference to its origin
- Wiktionary lists "intersexual" and "dickgirl" under its "See also" section, and Wikipedia does the same with "intersex"
Japanese, inventors* of futanari, don't use it referring to anything that doesnt have a vagina 99% of the time.

I guess that "shemale" may be seen as enough of a slur to deem females with only masculine genitals. Personally, I dislike it (as well as "cuntboy"), but I find it more... expressive? "Dickgirl" would be the "Western" tern for a "futanari".

Futanari, by definition, have a penis and a vagina. "Hermaphrodite" would be the western term for it.
Here "dickgirl" would be the more ambiguous term, but it's usually used to refer to someone who looks mostly female but has a penis instead of a vagina. It really does sound much nicer than "shemale".
I personally avoid using "dickgirl" due to its ambiguousness. After all, female herms are girls (or women) with penises too.
