Dude, when she's your sub she gives you some form of sass when you ask her about furries while being one or a taur. Then when you are her sub and a furry she mentions that it's okay that you look like a mascot at an amusement park or something making an exception of you if you're a furry but her sub.

Also the wiki says it.

"She has a deep hatred of furries not only because Jade's store is making her business more difficult, but also because she looks down on them for wanting to be so animal-like"
As to how accurate that is: sure, you can read that into it. In my mind I imagined fur TFs being really generic and easy to find, since there is that whole sub-culture who would want all that stuff (and indeed is represented by Penny and Jade in-game, Fen specifically wrote them to identify as furry), and a wannabe virtuoso like Sera sneers at that. You can also read misdirected resentment towards Jade for taking her customers. But beneath that finally there certainly is a bit of artist-on-board, because she is expressing my own distaste for furries.

Favorite: Surprisingly, Kiro might be up there. I would not have said that two years ago, but over time I've come to appreciate her as in many ways being a better rival than the Rival. She's independent, capable of maintaining that independence without needing help from Captain Steele, her backstory isn't played for drama but ties her more into the world, and her sex scenes are generally quite excellent, as to be expected of Fen. If she were chasing the probes, she would be a very respectable opponent.

Least favorite: Riya, for the simple reason that I think the fundamental purpose of all content written for this game is supposed to be to make the people playing it feel good. The purpose of writing pornography is to make other people happy. When you deliberately include content that is designed with the intent to get a rise out of certain people or to make them angry, I think you've lost sight of what this game exists to do. Dr. Badger shares the same issue, although I don't think Badger was written that way intentionally.

Saendra and Kara are also down there for me, chiefly because both of them share the same fault of being, basically, wannabes in over their heads. Saendra in particular is an exercise in needing to be repeatedly saved from herself, and I can only do that so many times before it gets tiring. Kara isn't as bad off on a day-to-day basis, but she's clearly drowning and doesn't realize it, which is almost worse because I'm just waiting for when the other shoe drops. I think this growing dissatisfaction with them is part of why I've come to enjoy Kiro more by contrast.

Oh god I completely forgot about the Rival. They are just so easily the biggest missed opportunity of a character in the entire fucking lineup of fengames. Like I'm pretty sure I could make an argument that the BBEG of CoC2 is already much more of a character and connected to the player and that game only has a tutorial thus far.

Is it too late to rewrite or remove Jack/Jill's parts? After all, s/he barely exists (Misty dixit). If it is, I have a new headcanon.

This issue with that, in my opinion, is more that the community came up with things they wanted the Rival to be before Fen managed to do what he intends to do. He clearly has a plan, one he's not supper vocal about, and people may have been content to wait patiently to see that plan come to fruition if there hadn't been a weird little cult following for a certain vision of the character. I consider myself, among many others, responsible for that to some degree.

This is why building hype for things and running too far with what you want to see versus what actually exists is always a bad thing. Because the Rival isn't bad. The Rival is nothing. That state of borderline blank canvas is why so many of us picked them up and ran over the hills to Delusionville, but it's still our fault. I don't feel the Rival can properly be judged because of the fact that the Rival barely exists. Yeah the argument can be made that maybe more should be done with them by now, but realistically we only interact with them 3 times, and the one of Tarkus is barely anything at all. I mean the one on Mhen'ga is essentially nothing, too. In fact the only even remotely substantial content they have is that disturbing Myrellion bad end. And that's it.

How we got from the literal in-game content to where we are with "what we want from the Rival" is entirely our own fault as a community. It's not like Fen has been hyping Rival content, or dropping hints and teasers, or doing much of anything with them. We did all of that ourselves. And it was a mistake. Because now there's a not-insignificant number of people that are mentally set on what they want the Rival to be, and Fen's ideas are at risk of being judged before they even exist...
Oh we've absolutely over-hyped ourselves. That's 100% not debatable. Nor is it even something I've really argued that we didn't do. Frankly I too have something of a big hand in that mess and I will admit that freely. You are also absolutely right that the rival isn't a bad character, but is instead nothing. However the one thing I cannot agree with is that the idea that Fen is entirely blameless for the situation.

As I understand things, the overall plot and the Rival themselves are Fen's doing. That puts the responsibility of directing our initial impressions of the rival as our apparent main antagonist right into his lap. All we get from our first impression in the tutorial is that they're kinda our bitch of a cousin that enjoys more of daddy's money than we apparently get to of our own dad's and that we seem to have little actual history with despite dear or dead dad making some mention of wanting us to not be a dick to them or something. The rest of our interactions do nothing to expand their character outside of the bad end on Myrellion when you take them as your bed warmer. Fen gave us very little to begin with and did almost nothing but repeat himself as far as what the rival is for the content that followed the tutorial. Hell the fact that it appears that the only reason at all that they're even rivaling us at all is because they got a head start does not make them a great antagonist at all and is something that has always made me assume that their position as antagonist was going to be overtaken and sorta putting everything together kinda makes me feel like the rival wasn't even intended to be much of anything to begin with.

Erra by far! Kase and Beatrice Reasner are really nice too. I love me some cutesy soft dom/sub stuff. No slavery, no drugs, no asshole dom, just tender loving care for a cute subby pet.

Holiday is a great character too; I'd love to see some more story or scenes with her. Demon girls are the best! Sera is far too abrasive and has too much weird turquoise sci-fi shit going on to be on the same level as Holiday.

Nova (the Goo Armour) is amazing, not because of her scenes, but because her personality is so much fun! Maybe it's one-dimensional, but it's also cheerful, playful, and really cute, and that always brings a smile to my face!

Least favourite would have to be Juro, because every time I want to talk with this asshole, he's always fucking around on the job and I have to wait. He's pretty reluctant to help during FazQuest as well, which not only makes him an uncaring dick, but also makes it likely to screw the player over if they pick the wrong response to his reluctance.

Also, I dislike Kiro and to a lesser extent Kally. They're really central to TiTS (front page mascots and all), and they have so much well-written content including threesome incest content (yes!) but no matter how much I try to enjoy it, kui-tans and hyper-dicks/balls are really not my thing so I can't get into it and that makes me sad. In that respect, my dislike is mostly because of the boner opportunity cost that their existence represents.

Favourite characters:
Sera , Siry, Flahne, Lerris (surprisingly since I usually prefer my characters to be the submissive ones), Gianna, Queen Irellia (mostly because some of her sex scenes really push all my buttons), Millie (for being the rare example of a pretty dommy cowgirl), Big T, Una, Petr, Gody, Aliss, Shade and Chaurmine.

Least favourite characters:
This is harder to answer because unlike most I don't hate any character. I kind of like all of them on some level. Still my least favourite would be:
Doctor Lash (on virtue of his ultimate goal being to eliminate al the porn from this porn game)
Inessa (not because I dislike her as a character, but because I just don't find her sex scenes very appealing prefering my Steeles to be the submissive ones)
Bimbo Pexia (I just don't like her sex scenes that much and she doesn't have much else going for her)
Siegwulf (too little content, too little personality being a vi-only robot and all that
Ramis (only because her content seems to be broken somehow. She keeps calling my 100% femininity trannsgirl character with long hair, womanly figure and DD-Cup breasts things like "my big strong man" and "stud" just because she beat her at arm wrestling once, a scene that my character shouldn't even have got considering that it's only supposed to be for manly men apparently.)
Mimbranes (because one of my characters has them all over her body and they keep changing the size of her sexual organs which is annoying but I don't really wanna kill the critters by removing them either)

This is a situation entirely created by Fen and his unwillingness to impart information, though. If there were a story/lore doc the writers got to see where it was clearly explained what he intends to do with a major character like Cuz, we could a) build content around that blueprint and b) be able to truthfully tell players that there is a plan, they just need to be patient. I'm sure Fen has his reasons for keeping as much as possible locked in his head, but bluntly I don't believe any of them are good, or are so good that they counteract the problems he creates in so doing.

Ramis (only because her content seems to be broken somehow. This is definitely a bug, shemales shouldn't get the arm-wrestling scene without gender ID shenanigans, and I'd be grateful if you put it into a bug report for JJ to look at. Also, nice to see Una and co. get a mench.

I already reported this bug ages ago.
https://forum.fenoxo.com/threads/public-build-07-02-ramis-bugged.4897/#post-114281
Back then it was deemed fixed but either is is broken again or it never was properly fixed to begin with because I recently found out that I can still get the arm-wrestling scene with the same (now even more feminine) character. I'll report it again I guess. Also the una scenes as well as the threesome with her employees are among my favourite scenes in the entire game. So kudos.

It's more "Dislike" in a sense that I show absolutely no interest in these NPCs and tend to avoid them, as I haven't seen the vast majority of their scenes, I can't really say I dislike their content. I was just being lazy about categorizing every NPC so I just went for a flat "Dislike"

Favorite: Kaska
Other favs: Carrie (and Cora), Gianna, Syri, Sera, Xanthe, Anno (Especially since Thicc), Erra, Belle, Riya, Shade and The Nyrea.
Unpopular Opinion: I actually like Doctor Badger, I think she's fucking hilarious. (Bitch still ruined my first character)

Dislike:
Elder Venus Pitcher, because I am never lucky.
Nevrie, because I want her to have more content.
Doll Maker, I lost to that thing so many times when it first came out. Stat reduction is BS. (I'm good now I figured it out)
Zephyr, idk why she just irks me for some reason
Kara, like Zephyr I'm not really sure why she irks me
Most of the taurs, just not my taste.

That's okay, I figured as much. :p

I was just curious if you had a bigger reason, like you felt every masculine character had some kind of universal writing flaw or something like that. And I was curious about that because I, as well, have not even really interacted with any of them due to a complete lack of interest. :D

This is why I went with kinda dislike and gave some reason as to why I said I put kinda dislike.

I opened with that line for a reason and I wrote that much afterward for a reason, too. If it had been short and sweet it would have come off as if I was just trying to hurt you (and, clearly, a number of people have still taken it that way). My first post describing briefly the problems I had with it was like that.

That preface is necessary because """"constructive"""" criticism is a misnomer. It always hurts. Of -fucking- course it hurts, you spent time and effort on something and even the gentlest way of saying it didn't turn out well comes off as though someone's telling you that you wasted your time. Constructive criticism is destructive criticism because first you're destroying your bad habits and then, after that pain fades, you're building up better habits. I spent time giving you an idea of how to build up better ones for the future. They're not ironclad rules (there are no ironclad rules) but they're something to start with when it comes to writing for your target medium.

Fisianna was not a good character but that doesn't mean you're a bad writer. It means you made a rough first attempt that doesn't quite fit into the game you tried writing for. I wouldn't have spent time tailoring advice for someone I thought was worthless.

The points in brief were:

- Many of your scenes are too long and a few of them are entirely superfluous; you don't need to skip right to the sex but you're not writing a route for a dating sim, either.
- If you include supplementary characters they should
A) be their own characters, not just hype-men for your focus
B) have a clear purpose; if there are three characters you should have justifications for all three
C) probably have their own scenes, or if not a solid reason why they don't
- You stick so closely to dating sim beats and stock scenes and their typical emotionally manipulative gunk that you can fail to engage someone who's seen this character dozens of times before in scenes that play out exactly the way they always do.
- You assume that players who interact with your character adore her. In a dating sim that works; in this game it feels like railroading.

The rest was how you could go about giving yourself the tools to do something about these issues.

Oh God another one of these. Whatever lol.

Favorite: Ceria, because she's just a cute elf girl without a bunch of emotional baggage or horrible fates awaiting her like far too many characters in this depressing fucking game.

And you know what? Just to defend her: Fisi. Yeah, she's a little out-of-tone for TiTS, but that's because TiTS' primary tone is "utterly depressing and/or absolutely fucking insane" and Fisi actually has cute, vanilla, and generally positive content that's not just "immediate animalistic sexual gratification." Tropes be damned. It's porn, not lit fic. If we judged all content based on whatever tired-ass tropes it uses, 90% of the game is shit. Porn is tropes. That's literally what fetishes are from a content standpoint.

Least favorite: Doctor Badger just because it's a tradition at this point. I'm almost on the same page with balitz here, in that all of Badger's content makes me laugh. But I laugh because of how fucking absurd it is that it's actually in the game.
I haven't completed all the content for Fisiana yet so I don't know if she does have some kinky smut written but if there isn't it can always be written if Lkynmbr24 is open to that. As much as I like all the kinky stuff in TiTs Fisianna is rather refreshing since you have to take her out on dates and court her.

Edit... holy crap just skimmed through this topic and there is a lot of debating going on :eyepop:. I have no idea if what I'm about to say is relevant to what people are talking about but really... if you don't like something about a character that you have to rant about it in a forum then don't interact with that character. Nothing wrong about Fisianna considering I struggle to think of another character where you can date them like this. I did notice that she was Lkynmblr24's first character? That's a great deal of content for your first submission. Ambitious, thanks for creating her.

Fair, and I do think Fen really needs to either pull the trigger with the Rival or just outright scrap them because it's getting a bit ridiculous. Even if he wants to just totally destroy them with some mindbreak bullshit or something on the next planet and just push them to the side, fine. I'd be really disappointed, but at least it'd be wrapped up and people could move on...

Next planet is supposed to an alternate starting planet. And then there's supposed pirate dungeon base. :p

My main has had Sera as a sub for over 1000 in game days. I feel self conscious playing them. The refrain that "You know, I should be running Steele Tech instead of dicking around the frontier plays constantly."

So, bumping off the rival is something I can get down behind. I don't mind hanging plot threads that come back later, but the rival at least needs a bone I can gnaw on if there's no meat for the foreseeable future.

Aaaaaaaanyway, I rather like Ramis.

And though there are several characters I'm not a fan of, I won't take this as an opportunity to list their flaws because that's just going to come off as rather insulting to their writers, who have made a tremendous effort in creating them and thus deserve some respect.

Oh and Anno, I really like Anno. Have I said that before? Maybe, who cares.

When I first heard of our Steele's Rival/cousin I was really hoping that eventually some smut between the two would be written but this is unlikely now since patreon is waving its ban hammer around against incest.

Ramis is amazingly hot, just woof. But she's also great fun, and as much as I find her irresistible, I like that she won't sleep with me.

Though maybe as a crew member she'll be a bit more open to sex with women, but I won't hold my breath.
I faintly recall that crew-ramis was supposed to be more open.

but yeah I really like her and not being able to bang her is annoying to me. Like I've always been in the camp of "anyone the player can romance in a game should be playersexual. nobody wants to be rejected simply over whatever the character they've created to represent themselves has in their pants. people get enough of that shit in real life and they don't need it in their entertainment"

If I remember right, crew-Ramis can share a fuckboy with a female Steele, but still won't actually fuck a female Steele. But it's late and I'm tired and I just wrote a bunch, so I might be wrong.

And I get where you're coming from with not being able to fuck Ramis, but I think it's okay if NPCs have preferences. I don't see a problem with characters staying true to what the writer wants them to be, and I think them having preferences makes them seem more like a real character and not just a vehicle for sex scenes. But I do think them being playersexual should be the rule, not the exception, because it would suck if most NPCs got all picky about who they'll fuck. Kind of like how some NPCs will fuck you right away, some not until you either talk to them or do something for them. I don't want to have to jump through hoops for everyone, but it's fine sometimes.

At least at this juncture, they make very little sense. Get all of the primary probe planets outline and implemented, and then you can loop back and start implementing alternate routes. There's 0 reason to be doing this now, personally feel there's 0 reason to be doing it at all, but right now just seems... genuinely insane.

Though to be fair, I think pirate base planet is coming before alts. And said base is supposed to be a probe "planet."

To memory it's because it was a backer goal. That and capital ships, for that matter.

But there already is smut between Steele and their cousin. Two scenes only so far but still. One is during a Bad End on the Myrellion main mission and the other can happen on Uveto when Steele volunteers to test Belles subtuner collar.

No, you're right. That's pretty much how it's going to be.
