Did you play the original game when it was in active development? Or have you played TiTS? It's how they do things. Especially since levels have associated powers and perks and they're refining those over time.

The game is balanced around the party's expected level, if you're having trouble anywhere other than the Undermountain at max level the solution is to Git Gud.

When you say "original game" I assume you mean the first CoC. And yeah, I did play it when it was still being actively developed. Not right out of the gate, but I started playing when the game became well known around the net, and I never encountered any leveling or stat cap problems. If combat ever tied you down, you just go to the gym in Tel'Adre and spend a few minutes grinding your stats up. There were only ever a handful of enemies where you needed to grind actual levels for the perk points.

As for TiTs, I never have and never will play it. I'm sure other people like it but for me it's just a world setting problem. I like the fantasy RP. Not so hot for the modern space epic stuff.

One thing I agree with is what's the point in the gym at all in CoC2? Like in TiTs and CoC the gym helped build up the MCs stats.. CoC2 could put that in.

I guess you just go there and run for a bit when you want to make sure your character description reads as thin, but like - you could just throw in a few transformative items to get the same result.

Maybe in the future there will be more characters there to bang, but even then that kind of feels lacking. Like come on man, I just want to power solo my journey and strike terror into the hearts of anyone that fights against me.

If your goal is to be able to solo everything as some super strong force, that's not going to be found in CoC2. The team making it deliberately eschewed a lot of stuff present in CoC. It's a fundamentally different game, designed around having a team of companions and relatively limited power. I don't like that the level cap will be 10, I feel like it'll end up not feeling that strong unless there's a massive jump in strength between now and then. Though admittedly, they've said that the level 7 perks apparently make the player and companions way, way stronger than they are now, and they've only not given us level 7 because of the combat rebalance, which has just now begun to actually appear.

But yeah, this isn't a game where you can feasibly venture alone, and it's not meant to be. I'd say you should play TiTS if you want the solo power fantasy, but you apparently don't like sci-fi.

The gym exists to modify certain parts of your appearance for the parser checks for said bits.

Seeing how this game doesn't use a scale of 100 and very specifically doesn't want you to be able to max out all your stats at once (which is why you get three points per level and six stats to spend them on, and it used to be that you wouldn't necessarily get access to all of them) I think the odds of the devs adding a way to permanently raise all your stats to the cap can be measured with the same thermometer used to see whether hell has frozen over.

Behold, the result of someone modding the game to have permanent stat boosters and raising the lvl to 20 and why that's a bad idea.

Its like DnD, there is no fucking reason to go above tenth level in campaigns. Because the absurdity people can pull.

The actual solution is to turn the difficulty down to whatever you're comfortable with. If you want the feeling of unstoppable power in combat, Story Mode exists for that exact reason. If you want more challenge than baseline, turn it up to Dark Mode. These options exist for a reason. :p

I mean there is a logical argument to be made when it comes to cursed artefacts that change your gender that it is also rewriting your brain, especially when the specific purpose of this golden armour was to change overly dominant males into much more docile females by the tribe that used it.
Suppose there's the fact as well that the very first thing you can do after Brint goes through the transformation is roughly push yourself upon her

Personally not like I think too heavily on it myself, its a porn game so the whole thing is just a contrivance to get a sexy minotaur girl on the team and Brienne is still a warrior after the change.
Though also one that is pretty obsessed with being bred...

This is the nittiest of picks, but I wish silly mode were a bit....modular

I want the pop culture references and a couple of the fourth wall breaks, but I don't want my currency to just be called "fur gold" for example.

I've hosted and been part of several campaigns that have gone to level 17-20. It's all based on what you find fun, I think the low level stuff is quite boring personally, but that is just me.
Yeah, I'm the exact opposite. I can't stand D&D past level 10.

Really, at least in 3/5E, it start losing its fun pretty quickly past level 5.

You probably would have hated the campaign I ran up to level 38 in 3.5 than lol.

10th level is where the absurdity is at least somewhat grounded, and 10 levels is good enough for this game.

I can't speak for others, but for me personally I don't like grounded stuff in a fantasy game. I love the magic and over the top stuff that comes with becoming incredibly powerful. If this game stops at 10 awesome, but if it went higher level than that even better imo at least.

I'm have trouble getting invested in Cait because it feels like she left the temple and chased after her sister cause 'she had to for the story'. Was her goal simply to bring her sister back to the temple to live with her despite it clearly being a life Calla despised or did Calla actually leaving make Cait think "Oh shit, maybe I'm missing out on something more in life"?
You have done all of Cait's conversations, right? Because she answers this right at the start of the game if you ask her about her family. Calla wanted adventure and to see new horizons, Cait was happy at the Temple but wanted to be with her father and Calla more so after agonizing over the decision for a while she left to join them, but not before getting her brand because she hadn't made up her mind by that point. The three of them were traveling together for a year or two before the start of the game so there was absolutely no 'I must bring Calla back to the Temple' about it, Cait wanted to see the world too and she wanted to do it with them. She mentions that her mother even encouraged her in this.

There's followup to this once you complete Cat Call and can talk to her, to Barney and to Sally. While there's plenty of room for further writing, two branching paths for her and a few teases to future story content for her, Cait's motivations for being in the Marches in the first place are pretty established at this point.

I haven't played in awhile and was trying to pull from memory, maybe I just didn't find her interesting and that was the problem with remembering her story. Or I'm just fucking stupid. Either way thank you for humoring me, disregard my stupidity.

I didn't want to give the impression that I dislike Cait because I actually don't, my feelings for her as a character are just neutral. Their story (as I remember it) just didn't get me particularly invested in the sisters. Regardless, I need to replay with the combat balance update maybe revisiting their story for a second time will be different. My apologies, I shouldn't have posted in the first place.

A minor thing I wish this game had - a tomboy salamander waifu

Helia from CoC1 was my absolute fav and she even got a full story dungeon and romance arc

I do adore the companions already in 2, but.... c'mon now.

Tomboy salamander.
