The Silly Mode sketch of the Cat Harem is annoying, and so bad compared to the full work that I first reloaded multiple times to make sure it wasn't broken, and when still I thought it was broken sent them all away every time that showed up without connecting it to being Silly Mode before I saw it on the wiki. Really wish I could just change to alternate (regular) avatar for that one. For a game with so few visual aides, I'll take what I can get, and the Cat Harem in their outfits are really cute, sigh...

(Also while on the Cat Harem, hopefully Hirrud Grune shows up at some point so I can turn his skull into a trophy or chamber pot in the future.)

Just did (failed?) Berwyn Quest 2's maze for the first time. I am completely clueless as to how you're supposed to know what to do to proceed. I read every single word of the flavor text, but everything I could pick out, from the green veins to the chair placement to the door/darkness dichotomy all seemed to be red herrings and I always eventually ended up back in the same places. I assume that finally getting to the end was a matter of the game taking pity on me more than anything else.

SOME kind of hint or clue as to what you're supposed to be looking at there would be great. I'm not stupid, it's just really unclear and unintuitive.

There is a specific order of how to do it which you can find here but if you can't be arsed you can always just keep pressing one side or the other, it doesn't matter, sooner or later you will run into first the missing gothmander, then some moves later you'll get forcibly dropped into a straight corridor when Mathia is "ready" for you. As long as you don't give up it's literally impossible to "get lost" in there as far as I know.

since lyric's been semi restricted to specific locations it'd be nice to just have a dedicated button for them at said locations that's clickable if they're in your inventory and faded if not, instead of say, being at the inn then having to click storage and inventory before finally being able to click on them, would save a few clicks and scrolling every time.

Adding this here since it got me thinking: Cait is kind of weird (to me) because of how she's characterized through gameplay and writing. On one hand her "bimbo with a brain" gimmick is excellent and she comes off as a lovely girl to have a night on the town with. On the other her thot lvls are disturbingly similar to thots you'd see in those interviews with podcasters, they'll hold out on the person they like while they fu$k other ppl; like, in the earlier moments of the game she'll fuck anyone you tell her to and randoms (e.g. crazy horse, fucks virgin at the back alley by herself and Brint) but not the player until they show affection? Is that on purpose? If it isn't, a quick fix could be the player isn't be able to view scenes that involve telling her what to do until they fu$k her or just have the option to fuck her from the start.

It is slightly weird that you can't just click the "Sex" button right away without doing Flirt etc first, then you can get that non-exclusive warning of her right away. Especially since most other character (companions and NPCs alike) with only a few exceptions like Drifa has that sex button wide open from the start, and the fact that she's probably given you a blowjob in the prologue at that point.

While it's weird in its presentation (also why on earth are you replacing "fuck" with "fu$k", this is a forum for porn games), I take it primarily to be your character wanting to establish some interest before fucking her. Really, they probably could let you ask for sex while skipping the flirting, because it feels like it's just your character not acting rather than Cait refusing anything. Hell, if you drink the penis potion in the tutorial, she sucks you off right there in the middle of a cold mountain path even as her kidnapped sister is about to get sacrificed. I don't think it's Cait who's holding out on sex.

Using mindless grinding as a fix is never good, that's the fastest way to have anyone switch up. It might not be the intent but it does look weird, you don't see the disconnect between telling her to fuck strangers which she'll do at the drop of a dime, her fucking anyone she fancies, and having to wait through a bunch of texts for it? It ain't deep (a lot in this game isn't deep, except the quest variation, those are mint asf) but the details matter, I said it before, someone in the Dev team just didn't think it through enough.

When someone says they look at you differently when you've done something they don't approve of, what does that imply? If the intent of the talk scenes are to subtly convey she's hypocritical with sex, cool that adds depth to her character, but I don't think that's the case because other character moments and events don't acknowledge or use this fact. And you don't either because of what you said.

I think calling it mindless grinding here is a bit much Melancholy. I hate grinding in games, but this will take you all of about 30 seconds if you want to blitz right through that, it's not a hassle at all. Is it a bit odd that this needs to occur in the first place? Perhaps, I don't have many personal thoughts on it at the moment, but when I think unhealthy grinding I think of the shitty 30% drop rates on Succubus Milk, which you need 9 or so of to recruit Viv if you banished the fiendish blue cat-thing from your Wayfort and can't just buy them.

I believe they meant rp as in getting a bit more in-character whilst playing the game, getting a bit more immersed and actual roleplay are too completely different ballparks and the former is something I imagine a lot of people do to some extent given this is a text based smut game with a bit more emphasis placed on writing and world than most.

True, but that wasn't my beef; if you look at the problem it undermines both ways of play. According to @Tide Hunter our character is the one holding out (which is true, I checked), which is even worst than my first point. It breaks immersion because our character is down to fuck anything at any time, yet he wants to wait with Cait even tho they are still willing to have others fuck her. Then from a roleplaying perspective, it takes already limited control from the player by saying their character thinks this, what if the player that created the PC doesn't agree with that?

But "The Dev Team" you're talking about is Savin who straight up had Cait state that because of where she came from and her upbringing that casual sex is normal for her and she makes that clear to you when you approach her. You're not the one telling her to fuck strangers, she was. Cait is allowed to fuck anyone she fancies just like the PC is. Savin wrote her personal quest (not the one involving Calla, her initial character quest), which is literally you going from Evergreen to Barley and then boom. And all you get is an actual (casual, open mind you, just like she stated) relationship and anal sex, which outside the latter there's nothing different in your relationship with her outside of it being official. If you have a problem with Cait tell him so that he can ignore ya.

Who are you even implying with that first question? Because atm I only have seen Ryn brought up in that sort of thing around here because I haven't played the damn game further than what I'm used to in a looooong time bruh. (At least let me take my time so that I can get context, dang /sarcasm)

Cait is not hypocritical about sex or her feelings for the player, you don't like that she fucks strangers like she said she would but it takes a bit to actually have a connection to her or some shit which is very trivial in the grand scheme of things. Nobody has to go to Cait's face and tell her that she's some bad guy because it takes a bit for you and her to actually get together just because you don't want to make a move. It from the time you two meet sets up an actual relationship there, which I can say for a starting companion character is a lot. If you didn't like Cait or had this much bothering you about her to think she's hiding something from you than don't give a shit about her so that you don't get attached. But she never implied she wasn't gonna fuck other people anyways because you get that established the moment you try to bed her.

Also I can't tell if you're baiting at this point because where the fuck is all of this coming from. This is like animalistic level of not getting the point and reading things wrong

I'm not going to bash Harvest Valley because it was one of the early lvls when they were figuring out quest design (which is weird to me since Foothills was the first and it has excellent quest design). It is what it is.

For the record I find looking around for Arona and repeatedly beating her up, as well as to a lesser extent looking around for Berwyn and beating him up repeatedly to be more of a "grind" than anything in Harvest Valley. Lusina and Sariel in Harvest Valley I might compare to them, and maybe the Centaur Pack if I'm looking for the TFs, but unlike Arona and Berry not caring if you're finding them or not doesn't gatekeep a pretty big chunk of content, making them way more optional.

In hindsight, Foothills is a bit rough, but they were starting to find the grooves of their quest design. A good fix for Arona and Berry is to have sex scenes unlock gradually to signify progress. They had splits in the narrative and last consequences down tho.

I know people have talked about CoC II's design documents and such... but I don't know if that was enough. Or too much, for that matter. It looks like the scope of the game has slipped out of their fingers... character customization with intimate consequences, dialogue choices, free movement, time of day, companion NPCs, combat with unique weapons and varieties of damage types/modifiers, base building... I don't know how large the development team is, but there's no way it's large enough to adequately cover all these things. Not even Bethesda can do it, hence the popular catchphrase "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle".

I don't know how much of a nest egg they've saved up, but maybe they can have more time in "pre-production" for the next game, and along with a more stable and cohesive writing team, and a smaller scope. Then again, without advertising such a large scope, they may end up lacking in Patrons... sigh

And no, most transformation items do not make you look like a woman, they have different effects depending on if you are a man or a woman. The only items that only make you more feminine are transformation items for female-only races (most harpy eggs) or specific unique equipment items.
