I -think- the intention is more that companion content is supposed to be dynamic, that it builds on earlier content and new things open up as this and that happen within the story - to prevent Brint for instance from languishing as a handful of short talk scenes and 5 or so sex scenes. If Savin allowed people to have more than one we'd quickly see a wider-than-it-is-deep situation and I would guess that's a lesson in what not to do learned from TiTS. It's a measure to see that they -are- involved and can offer lots of content over the course of the game.
And I do want to chime in that I also appreciate Brint. He may well end up as our only fully-masculine companion considering the crowd but he's some of your best writing. In fact I very much think you're one of the most improved writers in and around this little community! Your initial TiTS stuff (I want to say Dryad was the earliest?) had this trying to hit it directly on the nose feel to it and when I compare that to Brint scenes, particularly the way a not-too-talkative guy reveals aspects of his personality nonverbally in his sex scenes, the sheer amount of technique you've learned between then and now is downright impressive. His popularity definitely isn't -just- because he's a minotaur and one of the only manly-men in the game; the tone of his scenes combine aspects of both rough and gentle play that make him come off as boyishly sweet and caring without being gushy or defensive about it. You really nailed that cool bad-but-not-that-bad-boy boyfriend thing.
Very true -- the whole point is that companions are an ongoing commitment, as in they are expected to be continually updated to bring them in line with the most recent content. There really aren't many people who can be trusted to do that for one character, let alone more than one. And thank you, I appreciate hearing that. It's been nice hearing from the community about how much and what they like about Brint.
