This is working as intended, it's just a little weird. Your primary weapon becoming the Rusty Knife is what Disarm does (as well as making you unable to use [Weapon] tagged powers). They cannot disarm the rusty knife, it just extends the duration.

I'm assuming this save did Family Matters stuff before 0.4.21? The quest states were all fucked up before that, and the save-upgrade code tries it's best to fix saves from earlier versions, but it's possible your specific set of flags/states fell through the cracks and wasn't able to be fixed...
