You do know if there hunger gets to bad they risk basically going crazy/ being marked as a faceless.
True, but the only ones we ever meet who really are that desperate are Hinata, Yuzu and Kiri, so they're the only ones who get a pass for trying to force the issue. The ones we encounter in the Frostwood don't seem close to that stage whenever we encounter them, and neither are Miko and Mai during their initial encounter; I'm pretty sure they could all afford to take 'no' for an answer and try to find a willing meal elsewhere.

Exactly. All of the members of Hinata's group were both starving and craving essence by the time we find them, so they couldn't even resort to feeding off of each other - something Frostwood kitsune can do easily if they were truly driven to the brink by their vampiric hunger.

Carmen herself has already shown she's willing to hire people to clean up threats after all.
She has also shown that she is utterly incapable of vetting and controlling those she hires, to a point were her mercenaries did next to nothing to the main threats and eventually became brigands in all but name.

Though a part of me does like the idea of an Asshole FFA content expansion, where Carmen bribes both Marked Mercs and Kervus orcs into relocating to the Frostwoods. That way all three groups can proceed with happily ganking and (soul)raping each other, option for the Champ to either enjoy the show. help the side he dislikes the least or kick the winners' butts.

Hey I just said she hired people, not that it actually worked. I'd feel bad for her but I can't walk a foot without fucking Dale and co. harassing me. So I'll feel bad for myself instead.

Because people like defending what they like? You can acknowledge the faults but still do the former, humans will be humans and all that. Just talking about the content is enough to acknowledge that it got something out of you. Wouldnt you do the same if someone was saying stuff about what you like, this is all just a funny porn game at the days end.
That's not what I'm saying at all. Kitsune are just in the wrong as any other rapist beings.. just because they're hungry, don't mean they can't understand the word no.

If they try to rape me, I should be able to kill them or at least tell them to stop. Since there are no such things as prisons in this game.

I do not care your reason for attacking me, you still committed the crime.

If that was an option the whole region would be an empty place really fast in my game XD. Which in turn actually would make the roads safer for ppl to travel again. Story wise this would be amazing since would impact everything with your actions or inactions. Gameplay wise, ouch, I imagine the pain it would be to code everything.

But it seems that the common way to solve such incidents in Frost Marches is fuck back. I mean rape back, probably.
I think there will be a mission to help the lieutenant take full command of the mercenary to stop them. That good for local security.

As the Mercs proved, they are useless bunch of rapists that do more harm than good. Lieutenant proved that she is an ungrateful bitch that should be nowhere neer place of command since she attacks people that were just countering back in self defence. And Leofric proves that while he once was maybe a leader, now he is nothing more than a shell of his former self with abandoning his post and letting all the ruffians run a mock. And not accomplishing what they were payed there for.
This level of incompetence and vandalism should not be tolerated.
Helping those idiots is furthest from my mind. I would like to tell them to fuck off and go back from where they came. Swimming all the way across preferably.

Nah, It is some unnamed mercs. Funny thing is, non of the mercs that we get to fuck or meat in after defeat are the ones that fought us or tried to rape us. Which brings into the question what were they even doing there. Moral support?
It is all just so strangely presented.

And Boomer is probably the least violent onr of the group.

Jeez how many are there then? I know Lusamine and the other girl aren't in the fight.. but are an option to rape. Must be where I saw Boomers name then as he too is on the rape option. I'm looking forward to more Jen content though.

Am I the only one who thinks that Boomer belongs to the Silly mod of the game? I mean, just look at him and his name. XD
And I never lose a fight to them, honestly, unless clicking surrender I don't think it's even possible by the time they started showing up in my playthroughs. And learning what can happen to Cait, AND the fact the PC can watch to... as said on the wiki. Tease her after... that's so messed up. on all sides.
What I would love is to have content with Carmen and help her get rid of them. Because I wouldn't trust hiring those mercs ever. Imagine hiring a bunch of rapists to take care of your town?

From the champion's point of view, the lieutenant's attack made no sense, and rightly so. But based on Jen's performance in the series, it's not so much her malice as her lack of understanding of the team. After the departure of the original commander, she did not know how to lead the team, and could only protect the team as a soldier.
This may be my bias, but I think any armed group (official or hired) will turn into bandits if they were without leadership and discipline.
Therefore, you can say Jen made a mistake because she was incompetent, but you can't say she had a moral problem. If she was selfish, she would have abandoned the team and leave. After all, the team's depredations didn't take her any good. Her loyalty and commitment to the team kept her here, but she was not able to solve the team's corruption.
That's why I'm saying it's good to help her keep the mercenaries under control. After all, you can't keep this town safe all time by yourself. Your fox and cow wife take up a lot of your time. LOL

I think I remember her saying the whole reason she remained was that she had hopes that Leofric would return. And she's def not a leader, but here's an idea of how more content with her could be interesting. This is me as a player wishing, would be nice if like some other characters we could help build up her confidence and turn her into a proper leader, and on doing so, she realizes she doesn't need some daddy to help her with everything.

That is all well and good, but I also hope that we will be able to disband them. Nothing really brutal or overblown, just kicking their asses out of marches and putting the end to group known as marked mercs.

Also, I do not consider Kiyoko a wife. More like a concubine.

My interactions with the Marked Merks are all over the place, because by the time I hit the Foothills I'd already met Lusamine and apparently that throws a bunch of stuff off kilter. Also, I never lost to the them because by the time I went to the Foothills I'd already cleared the entirety of Harvest Valley, meaning that wiping the floor with the Merks was pretty much fait accompli. Here's my take:

1 - there's two "factions" of Merks: there's the veterans like Jen and Leofric and the new recruits, like Lus and the ones you actually fight. Apparently, the newbies are the bandits and the vets are SUPPOSED to be ok, but they're not, becaaaauuuseeee:
2 - Leofric is unadulterated trash. Forget the suckerpunch. He's a fucking commander of a mercenary unit, hires a bunch of thugs into it for a hard, dangerous, probably shit-paying job, and then fucks off on some sort of vision quest. That the Merks wind up the way they did is unavoidable. All armed groups are criminal groups. There are no exceptions to this.
3 - Jen is woefully unprepared for command, except possibly as a field battle leader. This is Leofric's fault, who, from the info we're given, continuously babied her (and not in the way she really wants him to "baby" her). This is further compounded by the fact that Jen doesn't think she's in actual command and instead is just keep Leofric's seat warm or some shit, meaning the Merks are never going to respect her as a commanding officer because she doesn't respect herself as a commanding officer.

TL;DR: Leofric is irresponsible trash, everyone (in-game and out) needs to shake off this delusion that Jen is in actual command of anything, and more Lusamine content plzkkthxbai.

By the way, why would the baroness pay for mercenaries rather than organize the locals to resist invasion? I remember garth's ancestors were all very good warriors. There are also many Lupines in the town, and they have a mercenary tradition. Wouldn't it be better to defend their homeland through these natives?

You can't have an isolated civilian population on a defensive war footing for a lengthy period of time, because those people need to eat and if it's the civilians that are doing the fighting then they're not doing the farming.

Also, both the Baroness and Sanders, the biggest hammer pre-Gweyr-return-Hawkethorne has, are spineless little shits who could make things better but won't because OH NO WHAT IF HURT SOMEONE MAH PRECIOUS BLOODLESS HANDS!!!, while conveniently ignoring the fact that either of them could have headed off this whole thing at the start.

Well, you need to realize that Frost Marches were annexed by the empire and Lupines were the original Lords of this place. Carmen could rely on the imperial army, on mercenaries, but it was never possible to raise an army of lupines. It would be detrimental to her rule here.

.......It seems that Carmen is either an incompetent coward or a sinister bastard. Is it really good to be the champion here?:negativeman:
I was just ponder the feasibility of disbanding the only legal army in the region (in name only) at first. But when it comes to politics, it's a different story.

I mean, SOMEBODY's got to keep the place safe, and nobody else is up to the job. I don't know if it's "good", but it's not like we're spoiled for choice. Unless you're suggesting leaving Gwyn and the nursery and whoever else you care about in Hawkethorne under the protection of Garrett, the dude who got pwned by the priestess of a dying power, or, worse, Sanders, the dude who was willing to let an innocent girl be sacrificed provided it meant he didn't have to hurt the cultists doing the sacrificing.

Sorry, what I'm worried about is the possibility that K Dash mentioned. That she chose to hire a group of apparently unreliable mercenaries for the sake of local rule. If she chooses to hurt the townspeople for her own power, then I must consider the propriety of accepting her title of champion.

that what i worried. Marked Merks not just a defensive force, it's a controlled deterrent to the locals. If this is her idea then the champion has to be careful about being betrayed.
Of course, this is just speculation.

From what I gather (again, take into account that due to the order I played things my playthrough's arc for the Marked Merk is all over the place), the MM weren't really unreliable. Their previous contract decimated their cavalry forces, so Leofric hired a bunch of newbies to fill in the gaps, took the Baroness's contract as a way to train them, and it's apparently the newbies that are the source of the issues, because, again, Leofric fucked off for his vision quest and Jen has all the commanding ability of a dead vole. That previous contract was apparently against orcs, so they were probably hired on their good reputation and orc-fighting experience. It's just that the current incarnation of the MM's is responsible for neither of those.

I don't think she wants them for the sake of local rule, either. I think the MM's were hired specifically to deal with the Kervus and the increasing demonic presence. It's not like she's using them as a show of force against potential rebellion in Hawkethorne. And, pre-empting your next question, no she can't just get rid of them, for 4 reasons:
1 - they're currently the non-MC biggest fighting force in the area so it's not like she can force them to do anything;
2 - Jen isn't leaving without Leofric;
3 - the rank-and-file (but mostly rank; take a fucking bath, Dale) MM's aren't leaving their current hunting grounds now that they've found them, and
4 - I want more Lusamine content.

hey man, you don't get the point. What matters is not what MM going on, but is why Carmen choice them. You told that people need to work for food. But for Lupines which have a mercenary tradition, I think is not too hard for them to balance the work and battle, like Garth's wife.
Yes, MM could restore their glory with some real change. And is no doubt there still some good guy here, like Len. But that doesn't explain why Carmen chose a method that not optimal. Are you trust orc can turn the lupines down easily? I'm not. Hawke Thorne doesn't need mercenary. She need, because as the vassal of the empire, people live here is the person she never rely on.
I remember that the Lord use to stated that Garth's family are nothing but violent beasts. Maybe not in such strong language, but is that means.

No offense, but it seems like is Gweyr who caused the last Lupines group to break up. Through her determined method.......

That's not how a mercenary tradition works. Remember those lupine ghosts you meet in the Foothills fortress? Those dudes did absolutely no work. They didn't farm. They probably did a bit of hunting, but certainly not enough to keep themselves fed. Mercenaries fight (or garrison) to get money, and then they use that money to buy food so they don't starve. If they can't use money to buy food, they pillage. In fact, they probably pillage anyway. But both pillaging and buying presumes there's food being produced, and that doesn't happen when every local spends their time fighting orcs and demons and the roads are so absolutely fucked up that you can't get any merchants in, except if those merchants are Kohaku who'd make an absolute killing bankrupting these people by selling them food. And she WOULD bankrupt them, because if all these people are fighting and not pillaging, then they produce absolutely nothing of value to trade.

Gweyr didn't balance work and battle. She did battle, and then she quit battling, started the Frosthound with Garth in a period in which she did absolutely no battling, and then she quit the Frosthound for YEARS to do battling. At no point did she do both for an appreciable amount of time.
