As some sort of compromise, the authors can mix the casual interactions with just enough heavy flirting and/or sexytimes that wouldn't necessitate a tonal shift.

Set-ups like Kaede's New Texan/Myrellion encounter or helping out Canada can also be a decent alternative, allowing the player to choose what dynamic to emphasize.

Given the emotional aspect of sex and by extension getting off, wanting to jump to the sex seems counterintuitive unless you're in it for a quickie. It gets better for me when I have an attachment of sorts to the character. Or rather, that's when it's actually pleasurable now. I'm to the point where anything that goes straight to the fuckening is basically the last resort. I think CoC and TiTS played a role in inexorably raising my standards. ;c
