If this kind of spelling is found in dialog, it's okay if its spelled that way so I'll give it a pass for now. Spellings like that could be an indicator of how the speaker talks, like speaking fast, or having a certain dialect by using alternate spellings for certain English words, depending on the character speaking. If it's an out and out typo or if the misspelling in the quote is egregious, that would be worth fixing. Outside of quotes that spelling would be a mistake.

This is actually parsed by your character's personality. If your character is kind, they will always slap the left cheek to appease his preference for males. If your character is mischievous, they will slap either cheek depending on your character's defined gender. If your character is hard, they will always slap the right cheek to troll him. So it's not that the text isn't respecting gender preferences, it's just what fits the context of the scene.
