This one-shot is a present for @RanmaChan for helping me be apart of this community. Seriously though not just him, but you guys have been really swell, and even with one of my threads being locked, I honestly have nothing but gratitude as I have never thought that I can actually be a part of something that I can enjoy without feeling left out. Here's something so as not just to exercise my muse, but as I said a gift.

Starring of course, the Tyranids!

The End of Galactic Civilization - The Great Devourer

A Warhammer 40K/Mass Effect crossover
---

It was the end...

Purple blood is spilt on the temple's sanctuary

An end to all life...

The Salarian's final memory was looking into the gaping maw of his nameless killer among millions that swarmed his home

The end to all that was good...

He raised his family's ceremonial knife in some grand hope that he would leave a memory only for acid to coat his body, and unimaginable agony being his final thoughts before feeling something pulling his very essence and he saw the THING!

CONSUUUMEEE!!!

The Turian could feel his essence being drained from him and he knew that he will be suffering long after his mortal body has passed, and that even the afterlife offers no peace, not when this abominable affront to nature continues to exist and the entity tastes the delight in the Turian's suffering knowing the fate of not just his species but all life that will fall to this monstrosity.

The end to even villainy...

Aria was not going to die like some bitch, even as she could feel their teeth ripping into her marrow, she would not beg-or was it because she was in so much pain that her brain shut down the nerves for pain. She would not die like crying little waif, she was supposed to be the Queen Bitch of Omega, she would give the final fuck to whatever these bugs were called! She would have the last laugh! She flashed a smirk at her killers chuckling in dark amusement when she finally saw what her own entrails looked like as she triggered the kill-switch on her omni-tool that would cause Omega to go supernova, she closed her eyes for the cleansing fires.

That never came. Aria opened her eyes, and desperately pressed the icon with her lone surviving finger why hasn't Omega gone up in flames! She looked up as a shadow loomed over her and saw a sight that would be branded in her memory. The Patriarch...but he looked wrong his skin and eyes bore same colors as the infestation that is rampaging all across Omega.

He looked at his long time frienemy and pulled out a small device, that spelled out all her fears no bigger than his palms. The detonator to the power core of the station. As if to further insult her, he kneeled down, and starting patting or rubbing her head like some dog or some misguided lamb.

"Fear not Aria, I have asked our god to spare your life so that we may be renewed and be reborn! Rejoice for their coming is nigh!" His declaration is met with a dark cheer from the monsters surrounding him that echoed all throughout the station.

Aria could only scream as she knew that what should have been a glorious end. Her body, her spirit, and everything that defined her will be no more as she will soon become a slave both in life and death...

This was the end of all things, the galaxy drowned...not in a blaze that lit the stars knowing that the natural life cycle of the galactic core has reached its time, not because in a glorious time when sentience has reached the furthest possible evolutionary zenith...

No...

It ended with a swarm of teeth, blade, and crystal as blood was spilled in such numbers that stained the very oceans, raping and corrupting the planets that once sustained and nurtured life for those that had once its home into a poisonous and violent abomination to suit the violating monster's needs.

This ignoble end began when the omen came from the far reaches of the galaxy, a threat that swarmed and consumed everything in its path and all life but the invader's own knew that their demise was coming

When the day the Citadel fell...

All was lost...

Shepherd was too weak to fight...he could not move...he could not even speak...he looked upon the souless yellow gaze of his killer. The monster's four crystal swords gleamed in the light of the local sun where the monsters who came from the dark space outside of the Milky Way Galaxy haven' t enveloped the world as of yet, but soon will be, he could only glare pitifully in a last ditch effort to spit his defiance at the monster who doomed the planet he valiantly tried to protect

The Swarmlord looked upon the little morsel, one more life soon to be consumed, but this one has value. Yesss this one will do nicely...

---

Phew! This is as far as my muse can coherently go for, sorry if it feels short as any further, my excitement would have gone out of control and into a mess! But what a joy it was writing this! Tell me if you want me to continue this, and let me know what I can improve upon.

@Endwar There's a lot of cutscenes and dialogues mentioning the means of comunication in ME universe, but none of them are conclusive.
There is this scene, when Liara explains some Prothean theories and Shepard has the option to ask if she could translate her explanation to Common Galactic. In ME 2, when Thane tells Shepard something in his native language, he asks Thane if he could repeat because his translators didn't catch what he said.
These are the ones I remember, maybe there's more.

Hi guys! Another day, another fine time to be apart of this wonderful site! For today I just wanna pitch in on one of my most favorite and controversial chapters. The Black Dragons!
210

Created as one of the cursed 21st founding, they are basically a chapter of armored Wolverines and Barakas, coating their over active bone-blades into adamantium in order to increase the lethality of their affliction from the Emperor's Design. Though they are afflicted they are no less one of the most fervent of Space Marine Chapters as they dedicated NINE COMPANIES to aid Cadia against Abaddon's 13th Dark Crusade.

Ever since I had the pleasure of reading their book, I find it a shame that because there are no codex around them and their activities are only found in books if you are lucky enough to find them. Its understandable they get the flack that happens to them because of their mutations; but I can never forget the passage where Captain Volos blew up his flamer, just so that his Jump Pack can give him the necessary boost to fling himself into the brain of a gigantic mountain-sized Neverborn called the Doubtworm and using his adamantine coated bone blades carved his way through corrupted Warp-Flesh and out the other side of its cranium!

In short, they are practically a chapter just begging to be purged for the very mutation they possess, and despite sharing a possible common lineage in saurian background, the'yre relations with the Salamanders surprised me that they were tense, yet accepted by the Space Wolves (probably because of the shared mutations and how unstable they are that they can sort of get along with the Black Dragons).

What do you guys think? and do you have any factions that you think is worth mentioning that others might not know?

Geneseed taken from Salamanders, from what I read there aren't many new chapters created from Salamander's Geneseed since most new chapters geneseed comes from Ultramarines.

Btw... I have a Free gift code for WH40k Eternal Crusade, I don't know very many folks on steam since I friend list is limited to three people lol and the only other person I know of who's into 40k is my brother and he's already gotten a copy of EC.

I used to love Blizzard, but what you said sums them up perfectly now: "universe to milk." That is what they do now. They have taken Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo, and destroyed them in the name of making money. They used to create good, fun games, that would also sell well, but now they create games to only make money. WoW killed all of the good characters, destroyed every inch of the lore, had to resort to going back in time, and now just magically bring back characters that they have killed off. Starcraft is going the same way, especially with the return of the Xel'Naga, and Diablo 3... *shudder*

There is an old rumor, don't know if it is true or not, the the original Warcraft was supposed to be a game for Games Workshop, about the Empire fighting the Orcs in Warhammer Fantasy. But that just shows you how much older Games Workshop and their properties are, in comparison to other games and groups.

Also, Starcraft is only 19 years old, not 25.
The Tyranids became an official Codex Race in 1993, 24 years ago, and were first created back in 1987, 30 years ago.

Aww, thanks @Endwar that really means a lot to me. I am glad I was able to help you find a place here.
The one question I have about your story is that, you, maybe, have the misconception that the people who are consumed by the Tyranids continue on as a part of the Hive? At least, that is the way it seems you wrote it. Unfortunately, as much as I love the corruption aspect, where former allies get turned against one another once one has been consumed by the swarm, it doesn't work that way. They are broken down and their biomass is added and recycled. Once someone is melted down, that is the end of them. But that is where I also love the Zerg, they corrupt rather than just consume.

I love the story though, I always like to see the Tyranids able to go around, destroying and consuming everything in their path! In the end, no one can resist the Tyranids, with every new world they grow more powerful, and with every new species they grow stronger and more diverse.

I like this chapter, and other chapters that have bizarre geneseed mutations. It makes them so much more interesting than 'perfect' chapters like the Ultramarines, the Imperial Fists, and their successor chapters. One chapter that I really like that have a mutated geneseed are the Carcharodons, also known as the Space Sharks. They have pale skin, pure black eyes, and a propensity to become incredibly violent. It isn't really known who the founding chapter was, some people think it was the Raven Guard due some shared features, others think they are connected to the Blood Angels due to their rage. I like to think that maybe they were created with geneseed from the World Eaters.

Though they do kind of share a theme with the Salamanders, I don't think that their chapter was spawned off of them because of just how many casualties the Salamanders took during the Dropsite Massacre, and the resulting fighting throughout the galaxy during the HH. They also don't share any of the other mutations the Salamanders have. Though, I honestly can't think of where their geneseed would have came from, if not from the Salamanders.

Geneseed taken from Salamanders, from what I read there aren't many new chapters created from Salamander's Geneseed since most new chapters geneseed comes from Ultramarines.

Ah, you beat me to the punch on the Salamanders and their geneseed. Yeah I completely agree with you, it is hard to believe that the Salamanders were able to create successor chapters, but then again, where did the geneseed of the Black Dragons come from and how did it get it's mutations? I think just calling them 'cursed' chapters is kind of silly. I also have an extra copy of Warhammer 40K Eternal Crusade gathering dust in my Steam inventory, lol.

Stop writing Warhammer fanfiction and start writing porn damnit! Your time is being wasted!

inbr4 "y not do both huehuehue"

I don't have any ideas for porn. Everyone is already working on all kinds of different characters that fill all sorts of different niches, not to mention the number of characters already in the game. I can't think of any new or original ideas that don't already step on another character's toes. That is why I went with weapons, it looked like I could actually do some good there.

Imperial Guard do them staying with the good old fashion style warfare..............it's the large amount of armored vehicles they can bring to the field plus my most favorite character (and right hand man) is part of them, the badass that is Commissar Ciaphas Cain and Ferik Jurgen.

Those are some of my most favorite books, though at times the different situations, how the stories work out, and just the sheer amount of soldiers who actually survive, kind of stretches my suspension of disbelief. Still though, great books that I have read many, many times over, just because the characters are so awesome.

I'm conflicted in installing EC damn game requires so much HD space and my SDD is limited lol

It is a good game, so long as you don't play Space Marine. Everyone plays Space Marine, so it is really hard to find a game if you play as them. Play as a different race and it is easy to find games.
Also, watch out for clan stacks, they usually destroy pub groups.

RULES:
Third rule of Warhammer 40k club: You MUST tell us why you have voted, if you vote. This helps to keep the thread alive and create more discussion. If you do not explain why, your vote will be invalidated and we will call you silly names. Like smurf, or blueberry.

@MilitaryAaa @FelixDracc Why did you guys vote for the Imperium, and what faction within Imperium do you like?
@Savin @DoctorNova @Byronhunter Why did you guys vote for the Tau? Only one person has actually come forward after voting for the Tau, it is really odd.
@TheRedGuy Why did you vote for the Necrons?
@NotYouNorI Why did you vote for the Eldar?
@Rhodeo @Doots @ProperGit Why did you guys vote for the Orkz?

I can't believe how many people voted, but didn't say why they voted. Unless you guys explain why you picked the race you did, your vote won't count!

@RanmaChan *Rubs his head sheepishly* Haha to be honest I kinda took creative liberties on some part (lore conflict I know), as I wanted to think it would be just nasty and delicious what would it be like for a Krogan Genestealer, leading his own genestealer cult on Omega, before of course losing all sense of self, a process that takes several generations, but I just couldnt help myself pitting that poor patriarch against his former frienemy Aria, now reduced to Tyranid meal.

Y'know what would be hillarious though? What would the Mass Effect people call the Tyranids? I mean while Tyranids is an apt name for a species like the Tyranids, it came from the first planet that fell to them called Tyran. Cause I am fairly confident that ME didnt have a planet called Tyran (although it would be hilarious by coincidence if it did). I mean if took a large amount of Eldar biomass to start creating the Zoanthropes Tyranid strain; I wonder what the other strains would look like, now that would be interesting.

I guess if the Tyranids were fully native to the ME universe, then a whole bunch of things about them would change. I mean, the Tyranids had Zoanthropes before they came in contact with the Eldar, it is just that Eldar genetics enhanced and refined their abilities. Instead of psychic powers, I suppose they would utilize biotic powers. They would have creatures similar to Zoanthropes, and through devouring the Asari and harnessing their genetics they would become more and more powerful biotic users. Krogans would be especially useful to the Tyranids. They would end up creating creatures like the Tyrant Guard probably.

Maybe at first the ME universe would think that they were some form of the Rachni, but they would quickly learn the difference. So maybe they would just keep calling them that? But they may just do it like the Imperium did, and name them after the first planet they devour. What populated planet is closest to their Eastern fringe? Lol

Yeah, your additions made it really dark, but that is how we like Warhammer 40K! Grim Dark!

@NotYouNorI Why did you vote for the Eldar?
Because I like them and their aesthetic? *shrugs* Why does this need more explanation than that? Isn't this poll being answer to the question "who's your favorite?" enough.

And since names of the voters aren't apparent on the poll results display, I was under the impression that this was an anonymous poll.

@RanmaChan And Blitz now thinking of new universes to milk or make old one merge (that Moba name I forgot atm name...heros of the storm I think). I loved 1st SC and DIablo. Heck even liked play D2. Not managed finish D3 yet lol. But at elast in SC2 I only need finish Protoss campain.

At least Tyranids aren't so much played down to be only part of milking machine for WHverse owners like SCverse is for Blitz. Hopefully they will not turn into this either in next few years.

I personally liked them better as SPEHSS terminators. I just wonder why they had to work in the Warhammer Fantasy Tomb Kings into their design. Was it really needed? Still though, an excellent choice.

Because I find the orks to be really funny, and I like the simplicity and the strength that they're design has.

The Orkz are hilarious. I would love to see a Black Library book written from an Orkz perspective but the dialogue would all just be grunts and hitting each other.

Because I like them and their aesthetic? *shrugs* Why does this need more explanation than that? Isn't this poll being answer to the question "who's your favorite?" enough.

Sure, I suppose voting is enough, but I am just curious as to why people voted for the race they did. It helps to create discussion, which is (supposed) to be fun. People like the same faction but for different reasons, and it is always really interesting to see why. Also, when I made this thread I didn't really put much thought into how the poll would work, hence why it works the way it does.

Cause I dislike them the least.

That is, interesting... So you don't like Warhammer 40K then, or...?

Orkz because theyz propa mean & ded 'ard. They have the best lore/fluff, units, voice actors & dialogue. And because I couldn't vote Squats.

Yeah, I didn't include Squats cause I thought they would be a little too obscure, plus they aren't technically an official faction anymore. They are just sometimes a part of the Imperial Guard like the Ogryn.
