You might be on to something. While I didn't like Kiyokos sex scene I did like her class and grace. That's more what I mean. I'll have to actually get deeper into TitS to find out about the other people you brought up. Never met them last time I tried to beat the game.

But I can't stress enough that I'm not trying to kink shame or step on toes here. I'm just a decent person IRL and so I don't like being as ass in games. If I pick to play as nice Captain Steele I don't want random mean dialogue tossed in when that's not how I feel. I don't get off on calling a woman a slut or who're while making love. Even the bee women in COC2 I can't bring myself to insult or hate. They're just being mind controlled basically. Brainwashed. So what good is calling them bimbos?

I just want sex scenes with the option to be respectful and not just to some NPCs but to all of them. I'll save the insults for people I'm just gonna kill and not fuck.
That's got a lot to do with who's been writing the majority of the content so far. Savin likes to throw in that casual-insulting language (slut, bimbo, etc.) in a lighthearted way but not everyone will read it that way. From what I've seen of his content in this and Fall of Eden the Observer writes very specific content - he's not one of these that'll write up a character and give them various storylines and ways to interact with them, there's one path he envisioned and if you're not fully on board with it it's not going to cater to you. Kiyoko and Garret are both examples. If you don't want to knock her up and engage with the type of sex scenes he wrote for her there's just flat-out no way to progress. Garret scenes don't have anything in them that specifically bar them from working with different types of PCs but he wrote them one way and that's the only way to go in that content.

It could feel unwelcoming or unsatisfying for one half of the majority of the content to be casually mean-spirited-but-in-a-playful-way and the other half to be gated behind progression you may or may not click with. That does a good bit of tone-setting, intentional or subliminal, and if you're not a fan of that tone, well...

As more content fills out it may be able to shake it's quite possibly offputting first impressions.

Why does Savin like that. He just like edgy stuff?

IDK. Overall I love all three games. They're a turn on and they're RPGs so that's both of what I like. But as a private and bashful guy. I'm just not so dark and mischievous to put up with that kind of talk too much. I felt like I was in Quintein Tarantino's version of Lord of the Rings. Or just a porno with written by some generic stereotypical sleazy director with a gold chain and a Hawaiian shirt. No offense Savin, you're a god at writing in other areas, but calling girls names and insulting them doesn't tickle my fancy. Yall have at it though.

I'm gonna do what I always TRY to do: Find a handful of women or futa and that I like and just interact with them and take the game in stride. I give the game shit on a lot of subject, but believe you me, I would not be in here if I didn't like them. Nor would I play all 3 at the same damn time in 3 different windows on my laptop at 3am in the morning. When I fandom. I FUCKING FANDOM!

End of rant.

@Stemwinder Those are some good points, and it reminds me that Savin and TheObserver were the reasons I kept playing COC and FoE, respectively. Naturally, seeing them both collaborating on a project, along with other writers whose content I generally enjoyed, has been quite the exciting prospect.

As for my favorite characters, that's a tough question, since many of them check all the right boxes for me, and there's been a good variety to choose from. It's definitely an improvement over CoC1, where I honestly felt the best characters were gorgeous tropical islands in an ocean of nightmare fuel. It's much harder for me to choose this time around. And as others have poited out, it's early enough in that it's hardly fair. Characters like Cait and Brint are going to stand out more when you get more chances to interact with them, even I genuinely enjoy most, if not all of their scenes so far. On the flip side, Arona, the harpy Matron, and Garret resonate very strongly with me just due to their archetypes and intended fetishes, but it'll be a while before I really get to do much with them. I very much look forward to it, though.

And even harder to decide on is the random encounters. At the very least, so far I prefer the random enconters that are also defined characters, since that's something I think even non-porn games could use more of. So, the Mercenary band, the Wyld Elf band, Berwyn (I know he's recruitable but still, I like that he reacts differently based on your actions and comes back stronger after repeated encounters), the harpy that'll visit you at night, and the non-combat encounters like the statues are all standouts in their own right.

I guess if I had to choose one....it really would be Cait. I genuinely stuggle to think of a playstyle or roleplaying idea where I wouldn't want Cait around that would ultimately be enjoyable for me, and I don't mean from a gameplay perspective. She just seems to be such a fun character to have around, and generally flexible to the point were I feel even a chaotic-evil Gay orc would have trouble saying rejecting the notion of having her tag along.

Again, I might change my opinion over time, but so far, COC2 has been a wholely enjoyable experience as far as its characters are concerned.

The appeal of CoC was very different and hasn't been replicated by anything since (maybe Paraphore, but that's even more on the nightmare fuel side). The lack of consistency and guideposts that caused it to feel like you're wading through hostile and weird territory - and all the nightmare fuel there was to see - was something striking and intriguing whether you found it erotic or just bizarre. Finding a favorite character among all that wasn't just a matter of walking up to their tile and hitting the sex button, you had to stumble on them and discover what their deal was. It made everything disconnected but also gave it a unique feel that obviously resonated with a lot of people. Later games definitely had better characters but that feel is something a good number of people still yearn for and don't get from TiTS or this sequel.

TiTS feels more like an organizational framework for homogenized smut stories with a battle system attached and CoC2 follows in the footsteps of Fall of Eden: it's an early-stage traditional RPG that also has smut. As far as the characters go it should end up being satisfying - my only complaint with them so far is that they're either in that initial "yep, that's a fetish" stage where there's not much to them -other- than that or they've got a novel's worth of content that I'm not terribly interested in.

What I think could end up being CoC2's strength is having the characters around for content that's not specifically about them, little isolated adventure-quests with a party as opposed to rotely going through one character's content in whatever way that's organized. It's definitely a problem to simply not be able to meaningfully interact with a character unless you pseudo-rape them or go through a fetish storyline you may not like or just don't have the right genitals to go through that storyline -or- just aren't into them sexually and that's a nice solution.

I'm planning to write at least one of those up once I finish up my current project.

I'm a moocher, so am playing the public version.

And it's really tough picking out a favorite. One of the first encounters is Cait. And perhaps that's why she's fleshed out quite a bit. But I really do enjoy interacting with her. Brint is one of my favorites as well. I am getting to really enjoy Berwyn's character too. Both as an enemy and as a companion.

I would probably have to say Arona now. Especially since eventually she will become a companion. I like to play my characters a bit on the submissive side. And Arona is arrogant and dominant most all the time. So we get along just fine. ;)

btw, love that dream sequence with Sugo/Ivris. My goodness that is so well done! I think I need a cigarette after reading it. :)

You should take a shower after smoking because it is one filthy scene. Savin will one day fold to my centaur-elf relations.

Futa orcs definitely bring the heat. Though I think Urka from Tales of Androgyny might have spoiled it for the rest of them; there's just no competing with that.

Gwyn amd Kiyoko; My preferences laid bare just by naming them. However as Ahmri gets more content i can see her surpassing them.

Unrelated, we have a falcon belonging to an ice elf, kinda hoping for a petshop reference down the line.

I agree. If Gwyn and Kiyoko were the same person that might be enough for me for the whole game. Well, that and having them travel with me instead of only seeing them in one location.

The traveling portion will happen for the latter since she is planned to be a companion from what I know.

Also, just so I can stay on topic, favorite character, all of them :^)

Namely because it's difficult to pick out who I like based on what I know. Kas is a good rival/antagonist for this game, Cait is a cool friend with benefits, Brint is a total bro, Kiyoko basically ticking off things with my pregophile fetishes while possibly being one of the more fleshed out characters of the game (prefer curvier characters, buuuuut fun-sized Kitsune is hot based on personality; Kinu is also adorbs, so she gets counted with her mom), Eryka has red hair, mascles, and huge tits, so I'm def. gonna have some pcs butt fucc her or be butt fucc'd. Alarune is a fun plant milf with a bit of a domme side, Etheryn is shy and meek, but has time to break out of her shell, snek girl is adorable and hot at the same time, Harpy Matron is a milf and I want to stuff her full of eggs, Harpy Wingleader has the same thing but with the added bonus of fucking her at night and seeing your kids with her at night from time to time, Gwyn being a cute, puppy milf (which also ticks off muh pregophile side), Arona being this tough, dominant orc Futa (who you can also dominate and be dominated by her), Jen for being one of the few enemies you can chat with outside of fucking (prefer chatting with her instead of fucking; reverse can be said for Arona and her band), Sugo with his whole trappy goodness, Hirrud is a character you love to hate and is possibly your other (potentially incompetent) rival. While I'm missing some characters, that's basically the gist of a lot of them in a quick summary.

Will say I'm looking forward to seeing our Dullahan companion.

Like the harpy leader I find it odd that some of the coolest or more interesting designs don't have names. I guess it's to add to the enigma they have.

My current favorite character would definitely have to be Berwyn.

A cute femboy with a sassy attitude and a huge, knotted dick? That's four of my fetishes covered in one character. He plays off the 'cute femboy' appearance perfectly, but avoids the common femboy stereotype of being meek and submissive. However, he is not limited by his preferences and is willing to play a submissive role (albeit with copious amounts of sass) for someone he trusts. He might be cute, but he is certainly not helpless.

I hope we get to pursue a potential romance option with him in the future! Perhaps even some threesome content with Cait or other future party members? I'd love to see him dominate or be dominated by someone other than the player character.

Other characters I enjoyed were Cait, Kiyoko, and the various plains encounters.

Cait is just a cool character to have around. She is an ambitious and peppy character who always tries to see the good in other people. Her white mage abilities synergize well with just about any player build or teammate, and she has definitely saved my bacon more times than I can count. Her backstory is interesting yet simple, and the CoC2 team did an excellent job of building her up as a close friend and powerful teammate in the game's prologue.

I dislike Kiyoko's sex content because of the pregnancy stuff, but I really love her personality and backstory. She is deliciously lustful and exudes a certain 'mamono-like' sexual charm, but remains in full control of her monstrous nature with her top-quality classiness and maturity. She serves as a perfect example of Keros's good traits, and is an excellent way of introducing the player to the positive interactions of the setting's unusual pantheon.

The plains manticore, orc warband, and harpy queen all exude a pleasantly familiar 'mamono' charm. Not much to say about them, but it's wonderful to see that even the random encounter characters of the game have their own personalities. It helps give the impression that the world does not revolve solely around the player character and their motley crew.

I definitely can't wait to see what else the CoC2 crew delivers in the upcoming followers!

Berwyn has threesomes with Cait already. When at the FrostHound, sometimes Cait's button will say "Cait?" instead. Try clicking it when it does.

I think my favorite so far is Kiyoko. I know big shocker right. But I honestly like her. The only think I don't like is that brief madness she slips into when she getting some. Giggling fits? Crawling on you? I don't get it. Is she holding all that in all day as she conducts herself with class then when her switch gets flipped she taps into a altered personality?

Kiyoko is effectively a demon.

That's the only thing about her I don't like. It takes a nice calm loving scene and turns into an excuse to throw around "fox-slut" this and "slut-wife" that. It ruins it, IMO (in my opinion). I swear "____-slut" is the catchphrase of most writers on COC1,2, and TITS.

I just want to comfort her and get her out of the jewel. Not have poltergeist sex with her while she kills my boner with cackling and demanding her ego stroked. But of course that's the only way to help her. SMH I can't win.

EDIT:
Why didn't the champ in COC2 just jerk on in a bottle and hand it to her?

Hah! Whatever. It's all a metaphor, right?
For that matter, chi could be swapped with a kiss, or by just a touch as they held hands. Or maybe by thinking of transferring chi and it would manifest as light going into Kiyoko.
What? Not sexy enough?
My bad. I'm just saying if someone wants Kiyoko free, but doesn't want to make sweet sweet love to her, they're screwed. You can't get around it.

Besides, if this is all a metaphor happening in the astral plain. Then maybe any kid you have vanishes when she leaves? The kid is a metaphor made from a metaphoric show of transferring life force. The aim is to free her, not have babies. So that kid you make is a key. Not a child. It's a tool to get out of the phantom zone. So why get attached? Why put her thru that?

Seems …corrupt.

But then how will Kinu grow up and hook up with one of these two fine lads?

He won't. Not in my game. That's that.
The guy in blue looks like a character from Frasier. And the red one look like Naruto's Madara if he was a hero and his father was a cat.
No sale.

I do. It's a pick a path book. If he tries to exist outside the jewel I'm gonna reset the game and just stop visiting the astral plain so that storyline never progresses. Done and done.

Judging Kinu's potential future suitors just by their looks? For shame!

(also that armor is basically traditional Japanese armor. And both of them are kitsune)
