How the hell does anybody beat Amara? Should I just never bother to use anything that doesn't do lust damage ever again?

Even if I kill the other three guys and take down her shields, Emmy's first upgraded rifle reward thing does 1 damage and the best I can do is 5 with Khan's arcwhatever. That's all assuming I don't just get stunned for eight rounds in a row at the beginning of the fight. At this point, it seems like literally the only thing I can do is start a new character because I was dumb enough to not be ready for an inexplicable difficulty ramp at the last possible second. Fuck me, I'm even playing on crybabybitch mode.

It's a text-based porn game. There's no "gitting gudder", that's like telling someone to get better at their choose-your-own adventure book. You either know the correct choices or you don't.

I obviously don't, so I was hoping somebody else could enlighten me so I could come back with Steele 2.0 and grind her into fluffy red paste.

Well, uh, you gave yourself an answer, I think.

Every character has two basic attacks, plus whatever talent BS. A weapon attack... and a tease attack.

Judging from how frequent this complaint is I'm starting to think that the Celise-tutorial about how some enemies are easier to defeat by teasing them into submisson was kind of lost on people.

I edited the post after I realized my Dark Souls was showing.

First and foremost, don't use energy weapons against Amara.  Her thermal and electricity resists are absurd.  If your a mercenary, try and go after her with penetrating weapons.   If your a smuggler, you shouldn't really have any problems facerolling past her,   If your a tech specialist, pull your dick out and put on a show for her.  Alternatively, go after her with the bio whip/goovolver (whichever one your more trained for) until she relents.

It's not lost on people, they just don't want to use it because it doesn't suit their character. I tried to use tease but since I've not used it once this entire playthrough, I've always died before I could get her to 100. I guess I'll just go slam buttons and pray to RNGesus and never ever make a new character who doesn't get the Queen's bow or the goovolver or some shit.

You can also use lust damaging weapons. That melts that lust meter.

Go level it up then. It takes about ten minutes to get tease to an appropriate level. Or as suggested above buy a lust weapon.

I'd love to, but like I said, I wasn't expecting the game to just go LOLNOPE YOUR PLAYSTYLE IS INVALID so I've just been using one save. You can't go back out through the lobby and exit via the sewers, your only path is past Amara and onto the shuttle. I don't have a choice but to just hit keys until I get to scuttle past with my shattered dignity but at least now I know to just buy the goovolver and use that for the rest of my natural existence.

Pretty much how it goes for Tech Specalists.   If you rely upon energy weapons and don't have smuggler's aimed shot perk, Amara will hit you like a brick wall.  As many times as it takes to reduce your will or your dignity into tiny little pieces.

What wise guy thought giving a boss both Mirrored and Grounded would have any semblance of balance?

Amara's total resists are: 40% Kinetic, 45% burning*, 30% electric**, 15% corrosive, 15% poison, 90% lazer*, grounded** and -15% freezing.

*pretty much all obtainable thermal energy weapons need to slog through both the 45% and 90% resists before dealing any damage.

** 30% plus whatever number is attached to the "grounded" tag.  Presumably 50+%

Your experience as a Tech Specialist in the far future where technology rules pretty well every aspect of life:

As it were said, it is literally the point of the tutorial - there are foes who are immune or nearly immune to combat damage. If you don't get the point and have no tease skill and no lust-based sidearm, it's your problem. The only real problem with Amara is stunlock, so you can be simply held stunned until death without even a chance to move.

My own brand of less then sane reasoning is that teases are the only realistic way of getting past goos, and by the time you reach bosses that are undefeatable through normal means like queensguard and Amara, you have had ample time to collect the right tools (goovolver).  Although methinks for future playthroughs i'll replace the goovolver with dancing when i can get away with it.  Once its fully implemented, anyways.

Even as tease master, always keeping Slut Ray with me, just in case. Volley with it is truly devastating, Yes, don't forget about Goo Prime, who is also very hard to beat by force. So Amara is not the only one.

Just shoot the Goozooker a couple of times if you received that weapon. Beat Amara in a couple of shots with it.

Which is strange, BTW - how it works through power armor, which should be sealed.

Goozooka require grey goo to work.  Not something most people keep on hand.  It also hits its glass ceiling around the time you leave Tarkus, by the time you reach Amara your better off waving your dong again.

-15% resistance to freeze, huh? At a point where no weapon available does freezing damage.

Seriously, the fight against Amara was frustrating, but beating the crap out of her with sheer force of my merc character was quite satysfing. Anyways, the fight put me on a pretty bad mood. Usually I prefer to spare the life of a character, but having her escaping from me after that fight (spoilers!), reaally annoyed me. I supose that the reason is that she's gonna play a role in the future, but after the frustrating fight that she gave me, I hope that, at some point, and she being a pirate and all, we could end her...or at least kick her on the jail forever.

But, I don't know well her personality, so, is mostly my frustation talking..

1)  You absolutely can be good or bad at CYOA aspect of games if the games in question do their job when it comes to relaying information about the choices. And if you don't cheat.

2) More importantly, TiTS has a turn based combat system. One you evidently don't use to its full potential for some pretty wonky RP reasons.

It doesn't mean that the balance is perfect or that leaving precisely one pretty counterintuitive route to victory isn't questionable game design.

I managed to murder the fuck out of her with my merc, although I have no idea what weapon I used. Headbutts and raw testosterone, I suspect.

Edit: Took a few tries though.

You know, I think I've still managed to hack every single enemy in the game apart with my Vampblade. It was long and drawn-out, yes, but the shield leech kept me going. Personally I don't consider combat in the game to be much more than an inconvenience standing between me and the fucking. I dunno about you guys, but I don't play a porn RPG looking for a deep, involved combat system. I have ACTUAL RPGs for that.

It doesn't help that literally everything but Amara and maybe a few of the Nyrea bosses are more easily beaten by being beaten to a pulp. Especially since the early mobs are far more easily beaten by beating them to near death, unless you throw all your starter cash at slutwear, which only encourages new players to solve all their problems with violence.

I'm just puzzled about the amount of players who complain about this online before even trying to use tease once.

I'm trying to get a fix approved for that, for what it's worth.

Something like Darkest Dungeon, where you get a 70%ish Stun Resist buff after getting stunned. Should fix that up a bit, for PCs and NPCs.

I dunno about you guys, but I don't play a porn RPG looking for a deep, involved combat system. I have ACTUAL RPGs for that.

This guy gets it.
