He keeps running until he reaches the edge, then collapses right onto the ground, the momentum causing him to roll a few times, and probably tossing off Hina in the process.

"Y-yeah. Just exhausted." He groans, sitting up, and getting to his knees before scanning the tree line intently. "We... Have to go to the left side. That's where Aila ran, right?" He murmurs, before coughing. "Damn. Need some water..."
"Oh. Thanks!" He grunts, before taking it from her, taking a big swig, and then putting it down. "Buaaah. That was sorely needed..." He groans, before looking around. "Crap. Now... How are we supposed to find Aila...?" He mutters, frowning with worry. "I mean... We could either wait here for her to get back, or we could go looking for her. Both options have their pros and cons..."
"Yeah... We'll wait till I get my strength back, and then we'll go look for her." He says, lying down on the grass and trying to control his breathing.
"Me either. Who knew this virus could evolve and replicate at this rate... This really was something deadly enough to wipe out most of the human race... And all the different kinds of mutations... Mom called it something... Fragmentation, I think? If so, it would have to be breaking itself apart and repairing itself at an incredible rate. I... Doubt it would be possible to cure it..." He mutters, still panting.
"Definitely nothing universal..." He mutters, sighing. "Maybe this was the whole point. This virus was created to mutate so fast that there was no chance of stopping it." He murmurs, sighing. "In that case, it's like I said earlier. Evolve or die."
He looks at her for a moment, then sits up and pulls her into a hug. "Look... Whatever happens, you will never be useless in my eyes. Remember that." He whispers, squeezing tightly.
"Hina, I'm not a robot. I have a mind of my own. I don't have to follow commands given to me by long dead researchers who didn't know that they were looking at the next stage of evolution." He murmurs, cupping her face in his hands. "I'm not going to get myself infected by just some random feral and become one of them. No. I'll find a good match, and become stronger... To protect all of us. You, Max, and myself." He murmurs, looking into her eyes.
