He nods and taps his spear against the ground. "Ready to leave, we are." He says, grinning. "Time to drag my brother back home." He says, chuckling and shaking his head a little.
"Aila... If I might ask... Why are you humming that tune?" Kai asks in a whisper as he walks next to her.
"Ah. Okay. I'll be quiet, then." He murmurs, nodding and dropping back so he's walking next to Hina. Seeing her stumble a few times, he holds out his spear, offering it to her should she need support.
The darker it gets, the more nervous and alert Kai gets, unsheathing his sword just in case something attacks. His eyes are constantly shifting around, looking for the slightest movements of leaves, grasses, and branches.
Aila suddenly stops in her tracks and grips her axe tighter while humming. In a blink she turns around, swinging her ax at Kai's head! Instead it goes barely over the top and with a wet crunch imbeds itself in something above him? Quickly moving away and turning around, a feral slowly fades into view, its skin had matched the greenier almost perfectly!
"Okay that- is fucking terrifying." He says, gulping as he sees the camouflage fade away. "We can't even attack them if we can't see them..." He mutters, walking over and pulling the axe out before decapitating the corpse. Then, he walks back over and hands the axe back to Aila. "Thanks again, Aila. I really gotta learn to do what you're doing..."
"I hope you have a few years to learn it then... it is not easy to do and is certainly not fun to learn." She says as she takes her ax back and starts humming once more.

"Well, nothing is ever fun to learn, that much is known." He says, before looking at Hina. "Hmm... I wonder if a droid could learn it faster than a human...?" He muses, rubbing his chin as he quirks an eyebrow.
"Which is true. And I can't traverse this place alone..." He mutters, sighing. "I see the point of this evolution now... Nature also provided us with a way to defend ourselves against the ferals, which she also created. Tough love, I suppose." He grumbles, sighing.

Kaizen's eyes go wide. "What the fuck would be powerful enough to break a fucking tree? Excuse my language." He says, looking at the shattered remnants of the bottom of the tree's trunk.
"Obviously. It can clearly rip a big freaking tree right out of the ground..." He says, gulping. "At least... If it's huge... We could hear it coming from quite a distance away, right...?" He asks, wincing.
"Yeah... Or... What if he... Didn't...?" He mumbles, looking more than a little afraid for Max at this point. "Maybe he's already been infected somehow...?"
"I suppose so... Let's just keep looking. He's bound to be around here somewhere..." Kaizen murmurs, looking around the place.
The group continues onward, moving slower and more careful now with the increase of threat. All they can see is more trees and plants no matter how far in they go and it is starting to all look the same.

"Yeah you are. And... It's a forest. Obviously things are going to look the same. Not like Aila has no clue where she's going. Come on. Be a little trusting." He says, smiling and putting his hand on her shoulder.
"I hav ebeen trusting this whole time, thank you very much, I just like to see results every now and again."
As she finishes her sentence an axe flies right by her face and impales itself into another feral that had just started slinking from the bushes.

"T-t-t-here you g-go. R-r-results." He says, shaking, since the axe flew right past his nose. "S-see, we're... Perfectly fine!" He says, walking over and decapitating the feral before handing the axe back.
"Yeah... The prospect of getting infected by a powerful, sentient carrier of the virus is starting to look more and more inviting... But... There's no point in having power if you can't use it, right?" He asks, looking up at Aila.
