So would you wanna live there or what?

You know I also thought of "Repo! The Genetic Opera" (It's not called Repo-men) while thinking about living in the world of TiTs, but for a different reason. Remember the villains daughter played by Paris Hilton, Amber? The one addicted to surgery and drugs? Replace surgery with mods, and that starts to sound more familiar right?

I imagine that a lot of the rich in TiTs are like Amber, addicted to mods and drugs, constantly changing faces (Vic is a shining example of this). Some might be like Amber's brother Luigi, who goes around murdering people, or the other one Pavi the rapist. Since they're rich they can pay any fine thrown at them, while the poor peons squabble outside trapped in life-long depts that can drag them even further into hell if they stop paying.

Better to just put 'Ballard-esque' here. And yes, that's pretty much how I imagine most of the U.G.C.'s upper class operate. Certainly it was the vibe I was aiming to give Vedice and some of the other party guests.

Pros and Cons of living in the TiTS-Verse.

Pros
  • Puppy girl aliens
  • Kitten girl aliens
  • Cowgirls (Modded, not treated)
  • Bunny girls
  • Exploration of a vast universe
  • Lots of opportunities to make something out of yourself, if you have the guts to do so
  • Mods, make yourself to be who you want to be
Cons
  • The frontier of the Rush is wild, where anything can go and laws are optional
  • Corporate Hell unless you happen to be a high ranking member of a corporation
  • Mods, very easy to bury yourself in debt (Reaha, Sera spring to mind)
  • If people want to make a fortune during the Rush, how bad must things be in the Core?
  • Slavery, while not common per se in the game, seems to still be a thing
  • Life seems cheap and bodies even cheaper
The TiTS-verse might be a nice place to visit, but I don't think I'd want to live there.
That said, if I were to get a nice, quiet continent on a paradise world, populated by some Ausar and Kaithrit, maybe a few Demon-Girls and a money pit ala Scrooge McDuck's to swim in, then yeah, I could see myself being quiet comfortable there.

Huh, did not know that. Interestingly both films were released within two years of each other, with Repo! coming first followed by Repo-Men. Both share a very similar premise too... I would accuse one of copying the other, but the one that came second is based on a book, but the book came out a year after Repo! o_O

Yeah the vibe Vedice and co give off is very much in the "Fuck the rules, I am /made/ of money" section.

I believe it's called "working at Walmart".

I mean really work you don't like doing is pretty much prostitution. Though I wouldn't want to be an actual whore and perform services for anyone doing anything they want for that sweet cash I genuinely think doing naked housework for some horny old cougar would be way less humiliating than working in retail.

And of course you then have socialism where the government owns you and everything you'd normally own and you just pray the bread line is short enough you don't starve waiting in it.

I was just watching Sargon talking about "Authority and the Individual" and it pretty much summed up my feelings: government and corporations are so big at this point that an individual has no recourse against them, be it the government slowly stripping away your civil rights [hate speech laws, NFA, Hughes, NDAA] or retailers making it so "customers" can treat you like some sort of sub-human garbage and if you assert your humanity at all you face firing.

At least in TiTSverse you have the "Bread and Circus" of lots of kinky sex with most anyone you meet to distract you from the crushing knowledge of your own insignificance.

Well in a future ruled by expansion and money, human life or rather life in general after a certain point becomes expendable.. Especially when you have unruly settlers who only want to keep their planets resources for themselves instead of giving it up to the Core.

That bit you quoted doesn't sound like it's been done legally.
That's just an extreme case for you.

The true scope of prison labor goes beyond personal development and public works: It's good business. Prisoners scrub products for Wal-Mart, package coffee for Starbucks, sew clothes for Victoria's Secret, and man call centers for AT&T.

Corporations cut deals with both private and public prisons, which gives them access to a labor force that has no choice but to work for, say, 20 cents an hour. Businesses and governments in turn save big.

As tempting as it is, please don't segue into your IRL political views on here. If you bring up whatever Carl of Akkad or Prison Paul thinks about something again there's going to be a serious argument.

Yeah, I cut a lot out to keep it from being too much about IRL politics and more about that seemingly any entity with power over an individual [be it public or private] becomes pretty oppressive when it grows larger as you become a smaller and smaller fraction of a percent to it.

And the video I was referencing was pretty much just Carl reading Bertrand Russell's paper, not expounding much on it. My brain wasn't awake yet or I'd of just referenced Russel and left out the middleman.

Not really necessary for it be bad at all in the core for folks go on the planet rush. Many folks we meet in the rush space don't seem to be that badly off.

Its like the American gold rushes, some people are just attracted to high risk/high reward situations.

If I could bring two people, I would love to go on the Rush! But without them I'd just visit, mod up, and get back.

If we brought the mods to our body back I'd be slamming those Estroblooms

That would be ideal wouldn't it, you'd have a small crew of friends and you take on the galaxy at large sounds like one hell of an adventure.

If I came back modded I'd probably be mostly Ausar though mainly because I'd love some wolf ears!

Whereas I would most certainly be having fun with Knot-a-problem.

Oh, believe me, I'd be tempted to go full Liamme but I doubt pupper ears, tail, and donger would do well in this universe.

Oh, I'm sure you'd find someone to collar - I mean accept you.

I guess I could just live like an anime catgirl always wearing a hat to hide my ears and pressing my tail tucked under my shirt

I get the feeling that what we see in the TiTS game is not at all what we'd experience if we were to experience it for ourselves. There's very few Bad Ends that I'm aware of that consist of Steel being executed gang-land style or slipping on a slick rock and giving him/herself a permanent concussion (which makes sense - it's a sex game). The problem with reality is that Reality Ensues (WARNING: TV tropes link).

As crazy as it may seem, I'd be down for a one way trip to the TiTS-Verse. While there may be a lot of cons to going there one way, It just takes some common sense, self control, and well thought out actions to survive the frontier. My only problem would be having to go back to planets to wait for Fen to finish another planet really.

The main things to avoid would be getting bimbofied by Badger and the Treatment... oh god Jerynn's bad end happening to a real person...

The possible language and education barriers are probably a bigger problem than the hostility of the setting tbh. And I doubt a "I come from another universe" is going to be an excuse you want to pull.

Yeah, the second some megacorp catches wind, they'd probably try to bridge the gap between universes themselves,in order to exploit the resources and peoples thereof.

Why go to the Gym at all when you can have...

While I agree full heartedly, I can think of at least 1 reason to go to the gym!;)

If our two universes merged that be pretty great, then I could walk around with doggo features "normally".
