Not necessarily, they could have gone the way of the Vanae or the Kerokoras, with their ship just barely hanging on over time due to some auto-maintenance routines.

Nah, the rival is a piss-weak starter villain that could certainly be sac'd (with significant consequence, but it could still be an option) before the second act even begins.

The Rival is an important character integrated into many events. Most notably (so far) getting the Myrellion probe.

I know a lot of people have their murder boners going, but most of us are firmly in the "fuck Tsunderjill when" boat.

I'd rather have Jack getting the treatment that Lepidus had at the end of the 3-4th Roman Civil War, powerless and humiliated until his death, but he retained his money, his title and over all his life. No harm done to our cousin besides losing the money race, and a good chunk of his dignity in the process is a soft-moderate approach that many would like.

Given how things go in the forum, an incestuous ending with Jack is likely, and even could be part of Victor plans after all: lure his nephew into his lusty son hands/paws/claws/etc.

I feel like you greatly underestimate how long Steele Jr. will live and how often they'll reproduce. Especially if one considers species with a much faster rate of maturation. Even assuming that Steele lives as long as Tricky Vic and makes it another 200 years and that their descendants all manage to reproduce at around 20ish, the kids just growing up will be 10 generations removed from Steele jr. Assuming I can actually do math correctly.
