Kari frowns for a moment, clearly trying to dissect your feelings. Her face softens and she reaches for your hand, giving it a squeeze.
"You can tell me things, you know... If you need to that is. Come on, let's give the place a once over."
Cart manages to pry open the front door and you all enter inside. The mansion's insides are marginally more appealing than the outside. A spiral staircase soars overhead, leading to the upper chambers while a series of archways open up to the dining room, kitchens, and drawing room. Soon Kari begin bossing Cart around, directing the positioning of furniture and unpacking of her equipment. Your companions, thus occupied, give you a few moments to explore.
The floorboards creak ominously at times, but the house seems otherwise structurally sound. If Kari's estimation of the cost of renovation are right, this place will be more than suitable as a base of operations. It is remote enough that no random passerbys will notice suspicious activity and the numerous rooms mean free housing for any employees you might choose to acquire.
...There is something a little unsettling about the place though. More than once, you whirl around, certain that someone was watching you, only to find empty air.
You return to the drawing room where Kari has situated herself. All the unpacking that Kari doesn't insist on doing herself has been accomplished. A long table occupies the center of the room, stacked with boxes of alchemical supplies. Clearly this is where the Alchemist intends to set of shop.
"Oh Ash, it's just perfect. I'll have the workmen by later today to start renovations. Give it a few days, and this place will shine like a polished copper, you wait and see... In the meantime, I'll set up shop here. Soon you'll have the best alchemist, this side of the empire open for requests." She gives you a mischievous wink. "I might even give you a discount, partner."
