If you mean actually autistic I'd be wary of someone writing a character like that unless they were that themselves or did research, as potential stereotypes and all are still a thing that can happen.

Yes; I’d definitely want an autistic writer to be the one to write that. However, considering this forum, there should be a few people on the spectrum here besides myself, so I don’t think it would be too difficult.

Stereotypes (and just plain getting it wrong; even with research, sometimes) are always a thing that can happen, no matter what is being written about. You (generic you) are just less likely to notice if you don't have deep knowledge of the subject.
