Wands and Witches 0.76 Public is out!

We worked hard to release a new version as early as possible. It took less time than usual, because the script was ready in advance. And the size of this version is smaller than the previous ones.

lb.png

- A new character with full questline. Her questline (3 quests) is complete and available for both male and female player's character.
- New Hermione's quest.
- 8000 words and 5 erotic scenes with 14 variations in this four quests.
- All these scenes are animated. These animations are less blurred and much more smooth then before. We will use such animations for all of the following versions too.

I know that you waited a long time, but we released another public version. We did not continue the main storyline, so the game still ends on December 20th. You will need to use early save to see the new content, or start a new game. Saves from previous versions must be compatible.

What's new?

Compared with the previous public version:
- 16k words in eight new quests. One of these quests is for female character only. Three for a male character only.
- Eight new sex scenes featuring Ginny, Hermione, Astoria, Nymphadora, Harry.
- Now you can work at Hogsmeade on weekends.
- Quest 32 has been heavily redesigned and expanded.

After version 0.77 alpha:
- Added animation, English text is fully read.

After version 0.78 beta:
- Bugs fixed
- Added two small random events with pictures.

We are released new public version of our game. We did it longer than expected, but it's ready. Despite the fact that there are not many quests in this version, they are very large. In general, this is the biggest update we have ever made.
Game time increased to December 22. However, we recommend using the saves from mid-November to be able to see all the new content. Or start a new game. After that, we recommend saving on December 21 to continue in v 0.85+.

What's new compared to the previous public version (0.79):
- 18k words in eight new quests. Two of these quests is for male character only. Optional gender bender quest for your main character.
- 20 new scenes featuring Hermione, Astoria, Irma, Draco, Harry (FemHarry too) and a couple of new characters. M/F, F/F and optionally M/M too.
- We redrawn and animare two old scenes.
- New sprite for Snape.
- New gossips.

Is there a way to transfer saves from an older version of the game to the latest version?
I have tried copying over saves from WaW0.52-Public-pc to WaW0.82a-Public-pc
but when I try to load them the game crashes

I see. Are there any cheats then I can use to catch up to where I was in my old saves?
You must first enable console commands on Renpy, of which you can find tutorial on the internet, then on the game and use this.
player.a_int = Intelligence
player.a_coord = Coordination
player.a_agil = Agility
player.a_curage = Courage
player.a_atl = Athletics
player.a_char = Charisma
player.a_luck = Luck

player.b_looks = Beauty
player.b_arouse = Arousal
player.b_control = Restraint

player.gal = Gold

Skill List:

player.s_charms = Charms
player.s_dada = Defense Against Dark Arts
player.s_fly = Flying
player.s_potions = Potions
player.s_trans = Transfiguration
player.s_comm = Sociability
player.s_spot = Quick Eye
player.s_sexp = Sexperience
player.s_hide = Stealth

House Scores.

gscore = gryffindor
sscore = Slytherin
rscore = Ravenclaw
hscore = hufflepuff

A new public version is ready.

Despite the fact that this version includes only half of the initially planned content, it is already quite large. As I wrote earlier, the new version was too big, so we divided all the content into two parts. This is the first of them.

What's new here?

- 12.5k words of new content.
- A new big quest in which you can romance Snape. This quest is completely finished and available for the female and gay characters. This quest contains three new scenes. We also significantly improved the background for Snape's personal office.
- A new quest that includes gossip girls. It is vailable for male and female characters, but the male character has more features here.
- We have completed a Colin's 'good' quest line. We didn't do a new quest, however, we significantly expanded his previous quest. Three new scenes are here, with two different animations.
- We added two new events to Hermione's quest. One of them contains a completely new scene, and is only available for the male character. In the second you will meet a new character, but the scene will use the old animation.
- Now you can bring the other two witches to the Witch's Sundew.
- We also completely redone Rolf’s main sprite and the robes shop in Diagon Alley.
- We added six new small events at the early game. We hope they help you better understand NPC's personality.
- We have seriously redesigned navigation at Hogwarts. Transitions between locations will now be faster, and without visual effects. We also removed the "Closed" alerts.
- Now you can turn off hygienic and non-hygienic if you want this.

Wands and Witches 0.91 Public release

screenshot0001.png

It took a lot longer than we expected. However, we have released a new public build of our game. What can we say? You have not waited in vain. This update is very big. The size of the game has grown by 17,000 words and 27 scenes.

We remind you once again that all new content takes place after December 21st. The game time has been extended until December 25. You must use the old save, or play again before the end of December to see the new content.

We strongly do not recommend using cheats to change the date in the game, this can completely break it. The events of this update are very variable, and it is almost impossible that two playthroughs will lead to two identical balls. Due to the fact that the new update is very complex, you will not be able to see even a third of all scenes in one playthrough.

In general, our game event's is quite kind in nature. However, even though this is a parody, you may encounter some not-so-nice things over time. These things will always be a consequence of your actions or your inaction. You may have seen the atmosphere of despair and hopelessness in the final books of the original series. This will never happen in our game, but don't expect all the finals to be happy ends. With some of the consequences of your actions or inaction you can face during Christmas ball.

What's new compared to the previous public version?
- Two new quests. The first is the Christmas ball, and it is huge. The second one takes place during the ball, and you will fail it if you can't manage to complete it before the ball is over.
- New outfits for almost all characters.
- New, more varied sprite for Ginny. So far we have only used it for the ball, but we will replace her old sprite in the rest of the game in the next versions.
- Four backgrounds have been redesigned or redrawn to better match the holiday spirit.
- Three new soundtracks.
- We've fixed a lot of bugs from previous versions.

We are still not sure if this version is completely bug-free, so we ask you to report any bugs you may encounter.

Been a long time since i looked into this and it seems like you've got a lot done. Pity that somehow having more content makes me less forgiving of the things I perceive as flaws. The biggest of course, being that you can opt out of having homosexual experiences, but not only can't you avoid straight ones, they're shoved at you so hard it's painful.

To put it bluntly, if a chick wanted my dick inside her, she'd have to chop the damn thing off first. So naturally, I don't really appreciate being locked into having sex with some genderswapped former-dude in a closet. When this could have been the result of a dev oversight or a missing feature in a game that was still early in development, I didn't sweat it too badly. Now, I can't ignore it anymore.

Keep in mind, the only reason I was interested in the first place is that the premise suggested you could enjoy whatever pairing suits your fancy. One might suggest that isn't mutually exclusive with a lack of filters, and that argument could even hold water... except that there clearly *are* filters if you belong to the privileged class.

Coincidentally, I get the strong sense that what few m/m scenes I saw were written by a straight girl who has watched too much yaoi. The dialogue was stilted, especially the Weasley Twins. And the sex itself hewed about as close to a legitimate experience as a softball toss comes to rocket science. My advice; if you're going to try to reel in a diverse crowd, you need a diverse crew. Get a bi/gay guy to write or edit those scenes. One who is both fluent in English and has actually had a dick up his ass, preferably.

I'd normally suggest myself, but I'm up to my damn ears in work right now, and I just don't have time to volunteer myself unless there's gonna be a reasonable paycheck in it. That, and most adult games think they can pay editors in gratitude rather than money.

Well, I thought I'd give some more, uh, positive feedback... I'm not sure which critique style AGL would respond to better.

The game is actually well done but it has some significant 'situation check' issues. I realize that at some points you are depending on timing to do this for you but I'd suggest that you re-think that. Hard coded checks to make sure some problematic combinations don't happen are always a good thing to put into your code.

Players can get themselves into trouble by trying to force certain issues that are timing based which can result in infinite loops caused by not doing something in a quest and not being able to get out of a classroom. You should ALWAYS have the 'exit' function available before you do a quest completion check or exit to the corridor prior to the completion check so you can always go do the quest. (in my testing I was able to get this issue regularly at different points).

There need to be more Quidditch based quests/events once you are on the team. These should happen earlier in the timeframe (after you get onto the team) and you should also have a hard 'player reminder' (in the form of "Qudditch Tryouts are this evening, you sure you want to skip them? Yes/No" with No taking you to the tryouts) that triggers on the Friday Evening for tryouts, so you can't accidentally miss the tryouts.

I've had a hard time trying to get much content with Rolf. I've taken the relationship with him to max as either gender and have only gotten the fluffy quests beyond his normal interaction screens. I don't know if I missed a hint on a certain day but other than the two quests... nada. I don't know if there is much here. You need 'hard stop' reminders if you reach the end of an arc with an incomplete non-player character storyline so that you don't waste game time pursuing someone that doesn't have any more gameplay to give. I'd just put it on their normal interaction screen (non-clickable text that says something like "NPC is at relationship limit, save and check back for more next update!")

The below are spoilers, if you haven't played the game, do NOT open these if you like to play games with the appropriate level of fun and surprise. This is a fun game straight up so I strongly suggest only opening these after a couple of play-throughs using different genders and answers to the quests. If you get stuck on the first 'Find Harry' quest, open the first spoiler, it tells you why. You can't fix it, it's bugged if you get it on a certain day or have made other choices before that seem to not allow you to finish the quest. The first spoiler might give you a hint on what day to actually trigger the quest (during the break), but don't do the second half the the school day until you've found Harry. If it works for you and this isn't an issue, then you didn't his the bug, YAY!

The find Harry (first quest) should only be done either on a Monday morning at first wake up (prior to Potions class) so the room is available *OR* must always have the potions room available when the quest is active. If it is not, you can never complete the quest as you end up in an infinite quest loop like previously mentioned (you can't finish out the day). It wouldn't make sense to allow the quest to go for up to a week to wrap around to the next Monday, so just make sure the room is available when the quest is active and it fixes it.

Prof Tonks should be like Prof Snape once you've gotten intimate with her. In fact, both should be 'available' after hours, perhaps at the same or even opposing evenings after class or on weekends. You already have the background and the action sprites, so it should be a 10 minute add to the game which gives it a different boost.

All NPC characters, once they get the lover tag, should have an available sex option in standard interaction mode. Only giving it to a few characters limits things unnecessarily. You have the backgrounds, allow fun to happen at other places than the broom closet. Shrieking Shack or Forbidden Forest, or the lake glen would be super easy to add. You have the sprites and actions already done, you're just changing backgrounds you've already got. Again, around an hours worth of work and you expand the feel of the game easily.

You already have difficulty levels (I'm assuming it affects either the roll stats or success levels) but you need to add one more: Story Mode. This is a step before easy. It makes all random checks automatically succeed. Yes, it can affect things like getting caught in the hall at night, but you can overcome that by allowing yourself to BE caught, so you've already fixed that. It just allows a player to see all the scenes and do multiple playthroughs to see the results of each choice, thus expanding the game again and letting people see all your hard work without becoming save game freaks each time they hit a check.

Okay, you've set your trap for the player with a certain NPC. You need to provide more hints on how to get the quest to rid yourself of that NPC. I'd also suggest a VARIANT quest be created for that NPC. Since that characters' reputation with the Students is of a certain disreputable type, that NPC would be perfect to turn into a submissive, leash, collar and all. The Marquis Ghost already suggests this style of play, so instead of flipping the NPC emotionally, allow them to be dominated, they are already 80% of the way there with how that person acts dependency wise. This would allow the other Students to 'use' that NPC and approve of them openly so you can bring the player back into the main storyline fold with all the relationships intact without putting the NPC out of the picture. It's actually a great NPC, well done, drawn and the owl messages are great fun, by turning the NPC into a sub, you can keep that up. Oh, the Hermione kitty outfit would be a great 'walkies' outfit for the sub version of the NPC. Thus you can cannibalize the art.

Okay, that's enough for now, thank you for your hard work AGL. If you'd like some more feedback from me, I'm happy to play test for you.

Cheats really mess this game up unless you know what you are doing and have a good grasp of how the logic of the game works. I don't recommend them for this game if you want it to be stable...
Honestly, they don't get you much either. I used them to troubleshoot the game, but it plays better without them.
