Sprinting across the property, Lazarus made it to the cellar door just as the hounds caught sight of him. Barking and howling, the beasts charged, and Lazarus just managed to pull the door shut as one of the huge dogs slammed into it. He cursed as the sound of barking and scratching came through the door. If the guards hadn't known about his presence before, they certainly would soon.

He decided he had to move quick. He turned to the cellar and set off, looking for the prisons or whatever they were using to hold the people prisoners.

Descending the stairs, the smell of earth and salt filled his nostrils. Fumbling around in his pack, he quickly produced a torch and lit it. The cellar looked no different than any other he had been in. Earthen walls surrounded him, and the area was piled with boxes of preserved food. Upon rounding a wall of boxes, however, all sense of normalcy vanished.

Built against the far wall was a large stone arch covered in glowing purple runes. A shimmering wall of pink and purple light danced within it. As he looked at the thing, Lazarus found himself growing strangely aroused; his cock coming to full erectness in a matter of moments.

He looks down at his dick, then the portal, instantly making the connection. So the men had lied. That, or... They had been thrown through. He takes a deep breath and steps through it.

A wave of vertigo washed over Lazarus as he stepped through the portal, and he suddenly found himself standing in a forest unlike any he had ever seen. Some of the trees looked familiar enough, but others were strangely colored versions of trees he knew, and still others looked completely alien. Most disconcerting of all though, was the red sky overhead. Glancing behind him, he saw another arch identical to the one he had found in the root cellar. This one was, however, was lacking the curtain of light dancing inside it.

He was a little unnerved now. He had heard of the existence of portals, but had dismissed them as nothing but fiction and children's fantasies.

How ironic he just went through one and wound up in a totally different land... He looks around, looking for any clues as to his whereabouts.

The forest was old, and dark, and Lazarus was sure he could feel eyes upon him. As he looked around, he realized that he was dreadfully exposed in the small clearing he had emerged in.

He looks around for shelter, or failing that, a high spot where he could get a good vantage point and survey the land.

Seeking a high point, Lazarus spotted the tallest tree in the immediate area.

He immediately jogs to it and climbs up as far as he can, carefully balancing his weight on the uppermost branches, and looking around the area.

The area immediately surrounding him was indeed densely forested, but it did not stretch to the horizon. In the distance he could see the woods give way to badlands and in the furthest distance he thought he could make out a large body of water.

Hmm... A lake... That would be an ideal place to head for. Food nearby, water... It could work. Checking his pack, he realised he had brought rations enough to last only for two days, three if he skipped dinner. He wasn't really expecting the mission to last longer than a week or so. That wasn't good at all... Judging by the distance, it would take maybe two days of hard travelling to get there. But... He had no choice.

He climbs down from the tree and makes a quick check of his equipment before setting off in the direction of the lake, looking along the way for food he could eat.

With few game trails heading in the direction he was headed, travel through the thick forest undergrowth was slow going. As he ducked under a fallen tree, a low growl issued from above him. "Well, well, something new in the woods," said a deep masculine voice.

Lounging on the tree he had just passed under was a large black jaguar, with burning green eyes. Its lips were curled up in a mockery of a human smile. "My, you're much better armed than the last one who came though my woods. I wonder if you will submit as readily." The jaguar rolled onto its side revealing its thorny red penis, and seemed to be trying to bob its eyebrows.

"Me. Submit? You must be crazy..." Lazarus calls out dryly, drawing his staff. On the surface, he was cool and collected, but inside, his mind was racing. What exactly was this thing? It looked like a jaguar but it talked? How strange... And it seemed to want to fuck him. Definitely not happening...

"Oh? I defiant one? Well, they all submit sooner or later." As it spoke the jaguar's eyes flared with light and it looked deep into  Lazarus's own.

Lazarus shuts his eyes and shakes his head hard, trying to get rid of the hypnotic effect.

When Lazarus opened his eyes, his vision was nearly blotted out by the midnight fur of the jaguar that was sailing through the air towards him, claws spread wide. Falling backwards to try and get out of the way, the creature flew over him, but not before raking one of its claws across his chest.

Lazarus yells out in pain and rolls of over, getting to his feet with his staff at the ready, dashing at the jaguar and slamming the staff into his left front leg before twisting and kicking him in the head. [6 for the first attack, 10 for the second]

[Yep]

The cat was thrown to the side by the force of the blow as Lazarus's boot connected solidly with the side of its head. It let out a shrieking roar, and leapt forward, clamping its jaws down on Lazarus's staff.

[Rolled an 11.] Lazarus twists and wrenches the staff out of his mouth, then swinging it powerfully at his jaw, dealing 7 damage.

[Apparently my luck is only good when it comes to combat. Figures. -_- ]
