I like CoC II more than TiTs and here's why

First of all, I just want to get this out of the way. I don't think TiTs is bad, on the contrary I think it's quite good, I just like CoC II more. Additionally, I'm not here to snipe at any developer of either series, I'm just here to give my opinion.

1. CoC II has way more pregnancy content. Some people love it or hate it, I love it.

2. CoC II tends to be clearer and more open about its quests. This is mainly due to the fact that CoC II started with the quest log while TiTs did not.

3. CoC II team members tend to be way more involved in the story and plot and have narrative arcs. While TiTs has more crew members and some have longer arcs, I find that CoC II is generally more consistent in this regard.

4. CoC II villain is to me personally, way more interesting of a character than TiTs villain. Kasyrra, I find to be an incredibly nuanced villain.

5. TiTs has a more episodic structure in comparison to CoC II which has a more overarching narrative. This is mostly a matter of personal preference.

6. CoC II has a more interesting power and equipment system than TiTs. Weirdly, I find that despite CoC II more expansive in choice of equipment and powers, I find myself facing less choice paralysis than TiTs. Probably because while CoC II has more choices, fewer of them are actually permanent.

In the interest of fairness, I will give a point to TiTs for having way more content and more varied content. Also, the fact that there is a secret hidden family tree in TiTs is also cool.

Hmm, not to invalidate anything that's been mentioned in this thread:

The thing about CoC2 that from a narrative perspective though - is unlike with CoC & TiTS - the PC in CoC2 is just a random person that happened to be in a tavern at a specific point in time (to get wrapped into / involved with the plot). If you literally choose to not get involved Garth goes in your stead then the PC presumably leaves Hawkethorne - Game Over.

The only character that kind of makes you feel like you matter in a narrative sense (at least somewhat consistently) is the game's main antagonist - Kasyrra (Kasyrra of which at least as initially presented, probably realistically Tollus would be the main antagonist more so now - especially given the option to romance Kasyrra). Otherwise it kind of sometimes feels as though you're just tagging along with your Companions - or fulfilling some duty that has been foisted upon you.

It also makes it a bit weird if you're actively romancing Kasyrra - what goal does the PC really have in that context? To help Kasyrra achieve her goals (to potentially reclaim her soul / have actual kids of her own (not including her adoptive kid(s)), aside from imps)?

With CoC & TiTs - your PC has a goal, the backstory clearly defines your character's motivations - but with CoC2 it feels more abstract. Presumably that is more freeing with people being able to head-canon it - but it also kind of sticks out in the sense that otherwise, if one doesn't theorize their PC's motivations, there seems to not much else aside from "obligation".

There are also other Champions such as Leofric - who are written in such a way as they seem to be "better" than the PC - so it kind of begs the question - why is it the PC who has to save the world (presumably depending on the path you're on with Kasyrra)? Surely there are more apt people for the job.

Anyway sorry - don't mean to derail the thread. These are not gripes either, but it does make the PC in this game seem a lot less "important" in a sense - which also then can be weird as it doesn't always seem consistent depending on the area of the game (or NPC you're interacting with).
Could all be intentional either way.

EDIT:
To mention one thing that I do prefer about CoC2 - as with point 6 in PalletTown's post - I also prefer the fact that theoretically one can just use the starting gear the whole game, whereas in TiTs that is not the case (you technically can - although it will not necessarily be as feasible). I appreciate the way the CoC2 devs try to balance around most gear - regardless how early on it was introduced.

I've been gravitating way more to CoC2 over TitTs for similar reasons. It just feels more "honed in" (?). Also, I like the more rpg feel with the party vs lonewolfing content in TiTs. One day I just looked at all the potential crew members (clown car cheat go burr) and thought "Why can't they come along?" I still like TiTs but yeah, I get where you're coming from.

For me, it's quite simple - I prefer fantasy over science fiction, and TiTs started to have too extreme sizes.

Biggest plus for CoC2 for me over TiTS is the fact you can actually be helped by your party members instead of going it alone, not to mention many of them have some incredibly varied scenes depending on your species, build, intelligence, capability, gender etc.

Also it feels easier to get the specific transformations you want in CoC2, in TiTS you just use the transformative and hope you get the exact bits you want, and if you don't you save scum.

Among some of the other points made, I vastly prefer the UI layout in CoC2.

I'm predominantly a keyboard and mouse kind of player, and prefer using WASD to move about and then clicking on any elements when required. coC2's elements are all in that sweet spot area of ideal imo - the map's in a solid ratio on the screen to see where I can move to, the characters swap into that slot and are a good size to be able to clearly take in who I'm interacting with, and every interactive (including stairs) is contained in the button tray so I know where to look for what I can do on the current tile, and have a good hitbox to be able to use those features.

TiTS somehow feels kinda cramped together by comparison. In favour of removing the displays on the right, everything ends up getting pushed into the left side. The map I find you have to keep constantly zoomed in to get a good idea of where you could (or should) be navigating to, and to get a better look at the character and then also minimise that view, you have a tiny hitbox in which you can click to do so. Navigating upper or lower floors sometimes feels a bit confusing when it's relegated to a dedicated button, even if it's to remove the slot it's taking up on the button tray.

I dunno, could just be growing pains to the change in UI between the two, but CoC2's UI just feels more comfortable to make use of while playing.

I find the RPG mechanics to be considerably more interesting and nuanced in CoC2 than in TiTs... which is good, since literally none of the sexy content in CoC2 appeals to my super-niche tastes and I therefore play it as though it were a regular text-based RPG. I can spend hours just theorycrafting character builds/party composition in CoC2, whereas each class in TiTs has two, maybe three good builds and little room for experimentation.

TiTs actually has a few scenes that are of prurient interest to me, though, so, y'know... bonus points for that.

TiTs has some of my all time favourite npcs, I've stopped playing because most patches just seem to be male npcs and no real story content or futa/female characters. No NPCs can beat Anyx, Shade, Luca and Syri, Ardia and her mother.. hot damn I wish she had more content. And of course Azra.

CoC2 definitely does pregnancy better, the best part is the unique kids and the acknowledgement of pregnancy by the sire. I think TiTs has only 1 unique kid which we have with the dragon lady. Of course we can actually interact with the kids in TiTs compared to CoC2.

Biggest upside for me for TiTs though is that I don't feel like I'm missing out when playing a pure female Steele.. while for me I have to play futa to get access to interesting content in CoC2.

One major thing TiTs doesn't have is Kas. The bestest futa I have ever stumbled across in porn games.
