I like CoC II more than TiTs and here's why

First of all, I just want to get this out of the way. I don't think TiTs is bad, on the contrary I think it's quite good, I just like CoC II more. Additionally, I'm not here to snipe at any developer of either series, I'm just here to give my opinion.

1. CoC II has way more pregnancy content. Some people love it or hate it, I love it.

2. CoC II tends to be clearer and more open about its quests. This is mainly due to the fact that CoC II started with the quest log while TiTs did not.

3. CoC II team members tend to be way more involved in the story and plot and have narrative arcs. While TiTs has more crew members and some have longer arcs, I find that CoC II is generally more consistent in this regard.

4. CoC II villain is to me personally, way more interesting of a character than TiTs villain. Kasyrra, I find to be an incredibly nuanced villain.

5. TiTs has a more episodic structure in comparison to CoC II which has a more overarching narrative. This is mostly a matter of personal preference.

6. CoC II has a more interesting power and equipment system than TiTs. Weirdly, I find that despite CoC II more expansive in choice of equipment and powers, I find myself facing less choice paralysis than TiTs. Probably because while CoC II has more choices, fewer of them are actually permanent.

In the interest of fairness, I will give a point to TiTs for having way more content and more varied content. Also, the fact that there is a secret hidden family tree in TiTs is also cool.

Hmm, not to invalidate anything that's been mentioned in this thread:

The thing about CoC2 that from a narrative perspective though - is unlike with CoC & TiTS - the PC in CoC2 is just a random person that happened to be in a tavern at a specific point in time (to get wrapped into / involved with the plot). If you literally choose to not get involved Garth goes in your stead then the PC presumably leaves Hawkethorne - Game Over.

The only character that kind of makes you feel like you matter in a narrative sense (at least somewhat consistently) is the game's main antagonist - Kasyrra (Kasyrra of which at least as initially presented, probably realistically Tollus would be the main antagonist more so now - especially given the option to romance Kasyrra). Otherwise it kind of sometimes feels as though you're just tagging along with your Companions - or fulfilling some duty that has been foisted upon you.

It also makes it a bit weird if you're actively romancing Kasyrra - what goal does the PC really have in that context? To help Kasyrra achieve her goals (to potentially reclaim her soul / have actual kids of her own (not including her adoptive kid(s)), aside from imps)?

With CoC & TiTs - your PC has a goal, the backstory clearly defines your character's motivations - but with CoC2 it feels more abstract. Presumably that is more freeing with people being able to head-canon it - but it also kind of sticks out in the sense that otherwise, if one doesn't theorize their PC's motivations, there seems to not much else aside from "obligation".

There are also other Champions such as Leofric - who are written in such a way as they seem to be "better" than the PC - so it kind of begs the question - why is it the PC who has to save the world (presumably depending on the path you're on with Kasyrra)? Surely there are more apt people for the job.

Anyway sorry - don't mean to derail the thread. These are not gripes either, but it does make the PC in this game seem a lot less "important" in a sense - which also then can be weird as it doesn't always seem consistent depending on the area of the game (or NPC you're interacting with).
Could all be intentional either way.

EDIT:
To mention one thing that I do prefer about CoC2 - as with point 6 in PalletTown's post - I also prefer the fact that theoretically one can just use the starting gear the whole game, whereas in TiTs that is not the case (you technically can - although it will not necessarily be as feasible). I appreciate the way the CoC2 devs try to balance around most gear - regardless how early on it was introduced.
