Not really, long story short william (her writer) wasn't able to make the deadline due to working full time on TiTs since it was in the process of shifting over to JS. There was several places in game that was future proofed for her companion status that never came to pass.

It's also never a bad thing to accept that projects might be able to change in scope. She'll never be a companion, but she's not banned forever. If einin was needed to further the plot, she would be an npc or a guest if needed in combat, but not a companion.

It sounds like Einin is completely dead since Williams mention that Kura would be their "one more CoC2 project" after which, they'll be focusing on TiTs.
