Huh, alright. I guess I'm just used to CoC more or less handing me everything; though with how much of the rest of the game is slowly revealed I should've seen it coming.

Yes, lack of hints about possible plot development is sort of a problem too, especially with unusual conditions.

I can tell you that some creatures (for example the Zebra, demon brute and Mul the orc warrior) you got to beat up multiple times to reveal their scenes. There are some extra scenes for specific player body shapes in a number of cases too...

There's also the randomness aspect adding a lot of uncertainty. For example, I encountered a researcher who requested I collect rhino cum and cheetah milk, and gave me directions to the zoo. I found the cheetah enclosure in no time, but it just said that it was empty and that I should go. I went in a couple more times and once there was a cheetah that nuzzled me, but nothing else happened. I must've gone through the cheetah enclosure over a dozen times before it gave me a vial of milk. And then I found the rhino dude and he wont have sex with me since he's not gay, and I have no idea if I just have to spam talk with him enough times or go get some quest item or if I'm locked out entirely (unless I turn myself female, which I'm not planning on doing. Transformation isn't my thing) or if I simply have to get the rhino cum from somewhere else.

Yes, I know. And you'll never know if there are such scenes unless you accidentally meet conditions. CoC actually had it too, and in TiTS it is fixed by placing disabled buttons for currently inavailable options. Actually, there are places where such hints are present in FS, but there are few of them.

Ah, yes, this too. One thing if you know some thing has a chance to occur, and other just to bash the every solid wall with your head for a chance to find a secret passage.

Further to the northeast in the zoo is a hunting area with random encounters and events. It should be a room where many paths cross and where you can explore. Go there, then "hunt rhino" and "hunt cheetah woman"

Well, I generally put such scenes in besides "regular" versions - so they're mostly easter-eggs for those who like specific forms. Same thing with scene variants for "submissive" players. There are hints in the multi-part encounters where the enemy will escape 2 times or so, then be caught. And once you've learned the name of an event (or event chain) you like, you can hunt for that too. For example the "soldier squad" event in the warehouse district has 6 parts...

I didn't even know hunting was a thing, there's no button for it (unless I use the hunting cheat, and I assume maybe it becomes a thing later? Trying it now with a fresh character via typin it seems you can do it from the start, even if there's nothing indicating so), and most all my runs at the crossroads ended up just killing 3 hours of in-game time and making my character hungry/thirsty. The few encounters I did get didn't do anything either so I tried to avoid doing that too much

Traditionally, FS is a text-only game, any button was a later add-on. You can check out all commands by typing "help".

A simple button doesn't cover hunting, since you hunt for something specific...

button like the nav button. I assume that when you don't have hyperlinks on you can't click it, but it's still something that tells you when you can do it. When you use the unerring hunter cheat, a bit that says "hunt" appears next to the bit for "saveword" when you're somewhere that allows hunting.

You should have it so that the hunt menu shows up without using the unerring hunter cheat, except maybe that it only shows things that you've encountered before (which would make sense. Hard to find something if you don't know what you're looking for). Mainly to make the game a bit more user friendly, since otherwise there's nothing telling you that you can hunt

I concur, this would make hunting easier for those who use hyperlinks (like me).

The game does not log what you encountered or not, sadly. I can look into adding a hunting button over the weekend - as an indicator that you're in a hunting area, but you will still have to type what you actually want to hunt afterwards.

There are Infection Terminal at Dr. Matt's lab with list of known infections and areas. Why not use it? Once you've got access to it - show possbile infected encounters list for area.

The terminal is showing the complete list of creatures. There is no list of what you already know and have found. So either you'd get a full hunting list (like with the cheat) or nothing.

Well, technically teminal IS giving you this full list. You just have to save it somewhere.

how hard would it be to alter the way encounters worked so that it set a flag or something like when you discover a new place you can nav to? It seems like something that shouldn't be too hard but I have zero knowledge of what this is coded in

Having the full list never was the problem. It is just that a partial list of only the creatures you encountered before does not exist.

It is most likely possible and you're welcome to try your hand on it. FS is open for new writers and coders, and the Inform language is easy to learn (which comes from its primitive structure)

I for one am pretty busy with work, life and stuff - so when I got free time, I concentrate on writing the porny bits of FS. And well, hunting already is a working system of the game - its all explained in the "help" text too. One could sink some hours into figuring out a more comfortable hyperlinked way to do so, but since some of us are already working on a new flash engine for the game, it's debatable of engine upgrades are worth it at the moment with the old one.

Thanks mate I was able to play it again and I am quite impressed :D but the installation and process of running it on my laptop here is kinda confusing so I think i'll just wait for the browser version (or find david again miss that fucker) anyway Thanks!

If you miss David, check out what he's up to these days:

Brutus & David.jpg

He's got a whole plotline with Brutus the demon...

0_0 I was talking about a missing forum user but that is fucking kinky.

Ah, misread that "or find David" to "and find David" - and well, a soldier I wrote for FS is called David. That's him with Brutus the demon up there ^^ :)

I'd still recommend using the interpreter & game file - you pretty much have to plop them all into one folder and use the interpreter to open the game file. A Flash version of FS will still take months to implement (it is just two guys working at it in their free time, after all) and the game is also a bit big to run in a browser (the newest compile has 33 MB). So just go ahead and play it offline now, that'll save you lots of waiting and hassle.

Maybe a brief note somewhere on the wiki would help? I kept clicking around on the wiki to no avail, eventually assuming that it was something that would be unlocked later on (like Microwave).  I only figured out how to hunt after my fourth attempt at googling brought up a blog update post that stated to type "Hunt xxx". Somehow my earlier three google searches didn't turn up anything...

In hindsight the whole hunt thing seems obvious, and the fact that it's covered in 'help' only makes me want to headdesk more. (I blame being a noob who only recently getting into MUD/non-everything-is-hyperlinked-text-based games)

P.S. I adore this game, so much content. *_* Thanks so much to the creators for your hard work!

I've played the Single Player version of Flexible Survival quite a bit, but recently I've noticed the performance of the game using Zoom on my mac seems to have degraded a lot. Is there any way to optimize the Flexible Survival.gblorb file so that it will run faster?

Hey all, long-time player and supporter of FS here (both single player and MUD).

For both of these: FS has a playable Single-Player version on the dev blog here: http://blog.flexiblesurvival.com/p/play-flexible-survival.html Just click "play in browser" and wait for Parchment to load (works for me on Chrome, Firefox, and Dolphin).

There's no real way to unpack a gblorb other than extracting the media files. You can try to tweak Zoom a bit for the game, but since I don't have a Mac, I'm not sure what would work best. Or the online version above.

I see dragon on this list, but can I actually become a dragon?

Yup. Easiest way: there's a quest that involves freeing an oversized dragoness from a tight alleyway. After some horny hijinks, you wind up completely transformed as a dragon/dragoness.

I never recieved an activation email when I tried to register to the Flexible Survival forum. It says to contact the admin, but how do you do that when you need to login to view any details about the member in question?

I wanted to say, that I can't get the save words to work right when using the game with Git as an interpereter. It only reads the first line of the code words.

To add to the previous conversation, you can also turn the Dragonness into a futa, by giving her a spicy meat found on the floor in one of the mall rooms.

I don't know about Gluxe, I was using a thing called WinGit 135, Windows Git 1.3.5. I run Git.exe then load a gblob file.

If Git is giving you troubles then switch out for Gluxe, see if it works any better.

Nope, it is still doing the same thing in Gluxe as well.

Say my save word was this.
