"Protect the mistre-grk...glkk..."
The gurgling of one of her human servants falling away filled Lilith's ears, the most recent of casualties put to the sword. How close had she come to achieving power, her home in the cold wastes magnificent and unchallenged?
But now, wounded from her extended battle with the invader, the vampire felt her left breast pinned beneath a steel boot, a mere mortal scowling down at her as he pointed his bloodied lance at her and prepared the final blow...
Thud.
The sound of her head striking wood as she awoke left her feeling true stinging. It had all been a nightmare, right? Seeing her imp companion slain and sent away, her castle fall, her cattle robbed... it hadn't been real, had it?
But she wasn't in her castle's bedroom. Her things were gone, the servants absent... and her room nothing more than a stone cell. And one of her walls was absent, replaced with silver bars.
A room built to hold her kind.
Whining hinges sounded out of her limited view from the cell, a click of a door closing as soft steps sounded down to her. And not but a moment later, a human entered her vision. The attire he wore wasn't too strange, black hair cascading just beneath his shoulders with the front tied into braids and tucked behind his ears. The man's skin had the color of warm flesh, tinted from working in the sun but pale from the weaker rays of the tundra. Green eyes peeked over to her, a single sensation shooting through her core.
This had been the one who attacked her.
"I struck you with a weapon that should have killed your kind... but I guess you're not some regular vampire or demon. Your clothes burned away so fast that I hardly knew what to do with you since you were still alive... it seemed a waste to just throw you away."
The man turned, grabbing at his cloak's binding to unfasten and remove the garb, then set to removing his gloves. The armor he had wore was absent, but his muscles were thick in just the right places to make doubting his status as a warrior foolish. The man finished baring his arms not that long after, approaching the bars and raising a hand to tap the side of his neck.
"The collar I've given you binds your magic... I can't take too many risks sparing your life... particularly when I even brought you back to my home and tended to your unnatural body. Not that it needed much... I just trickled some blood for you and you seemed to heal naturally."
