Clearly I have made some mistake here (other than representing Kaede's sex). FIRST of all I don't care if there's 500 spouses (I so wanted to type "spices" there), if they and you are not informed about their status and consent before the deed then it's cheating. That does NOT fit into the definition of Nice Time for Roo as I understand it but it does NOT make what I recall of Kaede's first and possibly several first encounters ANY less of what they are. Yes that's all very true, but at best it leads to a very bad relationship, UNLESS you happen to be the owner/operator of a quality harem. In such an environment one could use the other harem members as a control mechanism at times. You do have to be careful to not give too much power to any single member though.

Male rival having a sissyfication route would probably be the only fucking reason I'd ever pick male rival. So if that is a thing that gets done, having a male rival might not be an entirely bad thing for you if that's a thing yer into.

That's not strictly necessary, if you use TiTSed to mess with the rival's bits and gender flag, it'll trigger an email that will let you pick which gender you want your rival to be. I believe it was implemented to fix a bug that screwed up that exact facet of the rival, but I'm not sure, as I wasn't around for it.

I seem to recall facets of the Rival's code being changed. For example, before Jill was flagged as a virgin, but now that data is absent.
But they aren't in a committed relationship. Kaede fucks around, the only reason she gives Cass anything that looks like preferential treatment is because she put a baby in her after Cass took the treatment and basically forced herself on Kaede.
They are having a child together and when you meet the two of them on NT they are clearly in a deep committed relationship that allows fucking whoever you damned well please. THAT is not my point. My point is that WE, Captain Steele, are left completely unaware of this relationship until MUCH LATER. That is the point, by the definitions I know and everyone I know knows, THAT is cheating. I do NOT have any problem with it in the context of this game, it's smut after all. But no amount of quibbling and dicing it up with change the simple facts of what it is.

None of this changed the facts of reality. A thing being commonplace does not make it not in fact what it is. I believe I mentioned that this is somewhat moot in regards to the setting once already, I'll repeat that here. The point is that the topic is CHEATING/INFIDELITY. Those words have specific meaning. The context in which they exist does not actually change their meaning. Denying it will change nothing. In a polyamorous situation ALL members of the polyamory must be INFORMED and CONSENTING or it falls into the categories of cheating and/or infidelity. I'll not speak about this any further. I've expressed myself.
