Scholar, be a nerd, know stuff other people might not be aware(despite this we don't know what frickin sodium is, how?!).
So much knowledge lost in the aftermath of the Godswar...

Based on the times when the Scholar background gives you some insight on a topic and the times when it notably doesn't, it seems that the Champion's formal education mostly focused on history, politics, and basic magical theory.

Noble Scion is my go-to.
What can I say, Dragon Age Origins spoiled me.

I'd love for your background to come up more often in this game, but it's still present here and there, and that's nice.

Speaking of, is there like a master list of where which Backgrounds come into play? I'd looooove to try some of them, but a lot don't seem to make mention at all. One that comes to mind is the Slum Rat being able to do pretty much everything in the Mage Ship's Captain Quarters without causing a Strike.

I just open the .json files with a text editor, look for the background flag and read the scene variation.

Can't remember the exact flag from the top of my head, but I'm sure just Ctrl + F "background" gets the results.

Not perfect, I'll admit, but it works.
Having it all available in one place would be SWEET

I didn't know that was even an option! I'll just peek at the jsons if I'm ever curious to how a scene changes... thank you for the wisdom, Judge Magister Gabranth.

Arcanist backround causes your character to always be considered a mage, even when your class isn't black mage or white mage.
