"Oh? I won't have to worry about feeding Periwinkle today, then." He says, chuckling as the owl hoots and flies to someone's shoulder before picking bugs out of his hair and gobbling them down.

Sadie can't help but laugh as well, running a hand along the length of her ear as she settles down for class. Still watching Periwinkle go to work, she decides that she wouldn't mind getting debugged, especially if it means hanging out for a second with that owl.

"Alright class. Today, we shall be learning about a topic that I believe you shall find rather interesting. The history of weapons!" He says with a smile.

"Aw man. First we gotta use them, and then we gotta learn how they came to be!?" Someone from the back groans.

"Why of course we do! You think it's as simple as sticking a blade into a hilt to make a sword? Oh no no, my dear students. There's a very rich history behind it!" He says with a smile.

Sadie sets a hand under her chin, admittedly interested with the sudden talk of weapons. The blacksmith of her home village had always caught her eye through his practiced use of his trade, and she decides she doesn't mind opening her mind to sit through some history after all.

"Now... The very first sword was created, believe it or not, by the canines." Tevoran says, hiding a grin as some of the dog morphs in his class howl.

Sadie rolls her eyes, betting anything that if the dogs built it, the history has something related to sex involved in the sword's creation.

"But of course, the prototype wasn't refined. A warband of humans attacked the camp where the sword was rumoured to be held, killing half the village and stealing the sword. Once in their hands, the humans, being more technologically advanced at the time, started to refine and create better models of the sword. Back then, they used iron for stronger, but heavier blades, which, ironically, was mined from the mountains controlled by the canines!" He says, chuckling.

Sadie's smile turns to a side mouthed frown. That's the thing that really takes the wind out her sails when hearing about history: everybody's killing or stealing from everyone, and then those who were killed and stolen from start doing the same to everyone else.

"Over the years, the humans came to realise that the canines were not all savages, as they had assumed, and began to open up trade with them. The tribe that had had the sword stolen from them was long gone, which may have been beneficial to the initial trade offs. Both parties came to benefit from this arrangement, as the canines supplied them with iron, while the humans supplied them with food and seeds so they could grow their own crops. Basically, through the wiping out of one tribe by chance, something better was born anew. The Universe works in mysterious ways, does it not?" Tevoran says with a wry smile.
Periwinkle the owl moves over to the next bug-infested student, who happened to be sitting right behind the previous one, and starts picking bugs off her.

Sadie can't not keep an eye on Periwinkle at all times, throughly engrossed by the little owl. The canine human agreement ended up working better than expected, so it seemed, but she's skeptical of how it's going to end.

"So one day, a young pup from one of the villages decided that he would like to know what the humans needed all that iron for. So he packed up and decided to travel down to the human cities to see just what there were doing with it. Once he got there, he was greeted by the sights of people walking through the towns with strange metal things on their belts. Asking one of the citizens where he got it from, he was directed to the local blacksmith. The pup, interested as he was, would spend all day staring at the blacksmith working. Then, finally, when the man got sick and tired of his staring, he decided to bring in the pup as his apprentice. Years went by, and the pup grew smarter, bigger and stronger, and he created the very first polearms! But he didn't stop there. He went on to create the very first armor, the first shields, and even discovered how to make the steel you all use today! Oh, and speaking of which, his name is Urakan. Again, the Universe at its strange work again!" Tevoran says, laughing as the canines howl and bang the tables thrive before clapping twice. They had probably already heard this story before.

"Urakan, huh?" Sadie pipes up, waiting for a chink of quiet in the howling. "Are any descendants of his still alive today?"

"Yes, actually. One of them is in this very class with us!" Tevoran says with a mischievous smile.

Sadie's eyes gravitate to Jacob and Jason, being the only two canines she can remember from training.

"What? Who is it!?" Someone calls out.
"Him." Tevoran says with a smile, pointing to...

Jack!

A laugh slips out at Sadie stares in disbelief at the wolf. The plot twist certainly tickles her fancy, and she throws in the first snarky statement to come to mind. "Shocker." She yawns at him.

"Wha-? I- Really!?" Jack exclaims, his mouth hanging open in disbelief. "But- But I thought he was a German shepherd!" He exclaims.
"Close, but not quite. He was a Siberian Husky. They share a close friendship with the wolves." Tevoran says with a smile.
"Oh... Wait a doggone minute!" Jack has to pause here to duck as he's suddenly bombarded with random items for the unexpected, shitty pun. "How the heck do you know!?" He asks.
"We keep a record of every family's genealogical history in the city archives, dating back to the first settlers of this particular area. I happened to see your name has been added to Urakan's line." Tevoran says with a chuckle.
"Oh... Thanks for the info?" Jack says sheepishly, shrugging.

Of course, leave it to Jack to not realize his own stellar ancestry. Come to think of it, Sadie doesn't know much about her own, either, but she sets the thought aside in favor of messing still with Jack. "Hey, I hope you don't have a bone to pick with any of the humans though."

This time, it's her turn to get bombarded with random crap and even a few bugs from the canines for her crappy pun by the classmates.
"That's a no." He says with a chuckle.

Periwinkle flies over and starts picking bugs out of her fur, hopping over her body as he pleases to get at them.

Sadie brushes off the dread of getting inevitably bombarded as the owl hops his way all over her. She coos, distracted from the class conversation as she pats him once on the head.

The owl shakes his head, hoots at her, the flaps up to sit between her ears, pecking out bugs on her head.

"Anyway... Urakan had invented only the prototypes of these weapons. The spears, warhammers, and different kinds of armor as we know them now were made by blacksmiths that he subsequently trained, some of them from far off lands who had heard about his genius in metalworking and had come to exchange ideas with him. And with that, we wind our lesson to a close." Tevoran says, clapping his hands. "Any questions?"

Sadie doesn't say anything, not quite yet anyways. She appreciates the feeling of Periwinkle between her ears, sitting comfortably with him perched on her head.

"Alright then... For your homework, I want a detailed report on the history of your weapon of choice! My library is yours to use if you wish." Tevoran says.

Sadie shrugs, there are worse things to write a report over, and she nudges Matthias gently when she gets the chance. "You partial to any ideas? I think halberds are pretty cool."

Sadie nods, smiling back. "Sounds like the kind of thing with a rich history." She whispers, before waiting on Tevoran to finish up and dismiss them.

"Hmm.... Alright. I don't think there's anything else to cover today... So you're all dismissed!" He says, waving his hands. Periwinkle, expecting Sadie to leave, hops off her head and flies back to his perch as the class starts to file out.

But before she can get up to leave, she feels a tug on her sleeve. It's Matthias. "Umm... I'm gonna do my research now... So... Stay with me? Please?" He asks with a sheepish smile.

Sadie smiles back, hoping to comfort him with her compliance. "Of course! I actually planned on staying to ask Tevoran something anyways, but I'd love to put a dent in the homework if it means hanging out with my favorite batboy on the block. Speaking of which, Master Tevoran?" She steps a bit closer to the teacher, swallowing as she prepares to ask the question. "Are there any rabbits who have done anything like that? Like Urakan, I mean. Shaping history."

"Hmm... Well... There was Fleetwood the Wise. He was the one who invented the game hopscotch, as well as the very first running race." He says with a chuckle.

"Well, it's something." Sadie smiles weakly, chuckling once before continuing. "Let me know if any others really jump out at you. I want to know anything there is to know about my ancestors, if it's even possible. Thank you anyways. Alright Matthias, lets get studying!" She says back behind her, cracking her knuckles as she takes her seat again next to him.
