[your shape's special move is mauling people, ignore hack and slash and just roll damage +1d4]

[Tori the multiple knolls attacking your lovers are wounded but none of them are quite out of the fight, you may need to focus on just one, also their is an alchemist's fire being thrown your way so defy danger]

[Psy what is Larek doing during all of this?]

Larek woke up groggy from all drinking and sex he had last night. Still a bit out of it he heard screaming from afar. He grabbed his gear and followed the rest of the party. Charging into battle he saw some of the villagers being assaulted by the gnolls. Recognizing one of them to be Uta he rushed in to help her. With one of his hands he plunged his axe into the nearest gnoll.

[oh yeah that Guy is beyond dead]

Larek swept off the Gnoll's head in one clean sweep, freeing Uta from its grasp. She fell to the ground and let out a weak cry as Remorse glistened with the blood of the fresh kill. In the distance Dillon was mobbed and carried off by another group of assailants. The imposing Gnoll commander with the reptilian features ordered a squad of bloodhounds set upon the orc in the name of "The Queen" 6 of the fearsome red painted bastards advanced on him,

[Kealys your in a good position to aid either member of the group, but not both]

The druid felt conflicted for a moment but the decision to make was clear. She gritted her teeth hoping the higher ground would be enough of an advantage to keep her safe from the two advancing gnoll, one of which was already wounded and dashed to help Larek. The single orc was mighty, of that she held no doubt, but even the mightiest of heroes could succumb once surrounded and outnumbered so the least she could do was even the fight a little. The charging bear was a sight to see, surprisingly fast and graceful for a creature that weighted over half a ton but her attack had no finesse, only momentum and strength as she mauled the fastest of the approaching gnolls. [4+2=6dmg, one hold left]

The two gnolls advancing on Tori merely provided her with closer targets. Loosing another arrow at the one who had been on Dan [volley 11, damage 6] she caught the foul creature square in the face, before loosing another arrow at the one on Rocky [volley 6]. She underestimated the brutes speed, however and before she knew it he was upon her. Taking her bow by the end, she swung for the gnoll's head, [hack and slash 5] but it proved to be an ineffective weapon as he caught it in his hands and threw it to the side before grabbing her by the collar of her shirt with a laugh. His laughter was stopped, however, when Tori's head snapped forward [hack and slash 13, damage 4] and her horned skull connected with his nose with a sickening crunch, and he fell backwards onto the ground.

With Kealys making short work of the closest bloodhound the fight was starting to look a little less one sided, with 5 armed opponents against a druid bear and a big dick swinging blood orc,

[Remember Hack and Slash can apply to multiple enemies if you can justify it]

As Tori loosed off more shots her bow string gave her enormous mamaries an unceremonious SNAP! strait across the nips. The sting of it lingered and smouldered for a moment, it seemed she may need to take greater care in the future what with her new found shape. Running low on ammo only some of her shots found purchase, Dan had been able to fight his way free, but Rocky and Sophie were being tied up as he fled. After giving her melee assailant a taste of her horns it appeared he was knocked down, but not out. As he rose to pounce again he swiftly caught a knife in the back as Dan drew in closer.

"Tori there all over the village, what do we do?"

[also it occurs to me that you didn't evade that alchemist's fire I threw at you, so go ahead and do that now, also gain 1xp for one of those failed rolls]

Just then a rectangular bottle of vile green liquid came sailing right for them,

[Defy danger 9 for alchemist fire.]

Just as the green vial was about to connect with her face, Tori's hand shot up, catching the projectile [defy danger 10]. Turning to Dan she called out, "Use your shapecraft! Gnolls are cowards, if you can scare them they'll break!" Looking at the gnoll that had thrown the vial at her, she snapped her arm out, sending it flying back at her assailant [volley 7] only for it to land just to their side, before drawing her sword and charging the gnoll on Sophie [hack and slash 7, damage 2]. Slamming into the beast with all her weight, the two tumbled down, and she found herself rolling on the ground with the creature.

Faced with 5 bloodhounds Larek did not hesitate. He readied his axe to swing at the pack of bloodhounds. He tried to hit the one furthest to the right in hopes of using the force of his axe to cleave as many of the bloodhouds as he could. or at least knock a few of them into each other.

[The leader is closer to Larek and Kea, and was that one or two rolls for the fire? because I kinda only intended one but whatever, 7 on a hack and slash exposes you to their attacks as well]

As Rocky was dragged away screaming Tori dove into the Gnolls accosting Sophie, giving her time to struggle free. The pair of Gnolls began biting and pummeling her mercilessly

[Damage from multiple attackers in this game works as such, Roll 1d6 twice and take the higher then add 2]

Meanwhile,

Larek lunged forward swinging remorse in wide wild arcs, reducing three of his attackers into a macabre confetti of dismembered limbs and fountains of blood (I'm a big fan of this game's messy tag)

The two remaining bloodhounds dove in and got their licks where they could

[Same deal, 1d6x2 and take the better +2]

[Kea what is your next move?]

The great bear, whose hide was now thoroughly bathed in blood, roared furiously as she saw her companion be attacked by the remaining bloodhounds. That did, however, give her an opening to explore and so she did. She launched her hefty body against the two attackers going for the moment they lost balance to maul them mercilessly. [6+4, no holds left] As she lost her hold on the lent form, Kaelys jumped back to stand side by side with Larek, spear in hand preparing to morph to a new form.

As the two gnolls bit and spat at her, Tori reached up and grabbed each one by the side of the head and pulled with all her strength [hack and slash 10], slamming their heads together, before thrusting her head forward to smash it into their noses [5 damage]. As the two assailants stood up in pain, Tori snapped her legs up [hack and slash 12] kicking each one in the groin, before grabbing her sword and swiping it across the crying dog-men's stomachs [ 7 damage]. Looking to the gnolls that had taken Rocky, she saw that they had been stopped in their tracks by a twelve foot tall Dan, made of rock. Taking advantage of Dan's illusion, Tori charged the two attackers and swung her sword, not at them, but at the sack hold in Rocky, letting him spill out onto the ground. She then brought her blade back around at the two brutes [hack and slash7] cutting into their backs before snapping her leg forward to kick the freshly opened wounds [7 damage].

[Yeah I'm gonna put my foot down and say that's not how hirelings work, because their are clear rules for hirelings, and make no mistake that's what Dan and Sophie are, Hirelings. Hirelings can only add slightly to your moves' grandeur, they don't have moves of their own. They're not the heroes here. Now you definitely laid down a solid ass-whooping on those two Gnolls, but that took time, time enough for Rocky's assailants to get lost in the chaos. Much like captain Kirk you seem to fail to realize that sometimes heroes are presented with no win scenarios. I needed to trim down on excess NPCs and I wanted to see which one you wanted to keep most, if your not getting the vibe here "all of them" isn't an option, at least not without help from the other main heroes. It's my job as the GM to dangle things your character want's over your head, so if you want to embark on a quest to save Rocky that's fine, just know it also means going off and dealing with the actual threat (all this dragon queen malarkey). Secondly its important to remember that when your fictional description triggers a move, it prompts me to add something on top of that move that you then react to, so while a preemptive or follow up roll to some actions is usually fine, its important to not get carried away before I chime in. Look to the other players when estimating what is an appropriate roll per post ratio.]

[Also you forgot to take your damage, so I rolled it for you, the total was 3 (lucky)]

Meanwhile;

The reptilian Gnoll captain drew a pair of scimitars and brandished them with a sickeningly wicked grin,

She flew into a whirling dervish of death putting both Larek and Kealys on the defensive

The captain put out a splendid display of dexterity and speed that forced the druid to leap back before the tempest of steel reached her. [Defy Danger 9, so darn close]

Her deft sword play maneuvered inside the reach of Keaylys' spear, forcing her to kite backwards right into Larek, with the two on them penned in like a couple of breeding hounds they were limited in their capacity to bring their full force of arms to bear, and flanking was definitely out of the question.

[Larek what's your take on all this?]

As Kaelys bumped into Larek. The big orc tried to hold his footing to not get pushed to the ground thinking of it as nothing.

[Larek the "dogs" are dead, now you are fighting the captain.]

[ 9 is good enough to get into melee with her and deal damage, but now describe how you roll to defy her onslaught of sword blows]

The deft maneuvers of the reptilian Gnoll denied them any room for large movements and even standing their grounds was made awkward as each twirl of her swords pushed one of the heroes against the other. Kae's mind had to think fast she needed a a form that was small enough to break away, fierce enough to intimidate and sturdy enough to survive being hit in case everything went wrong... there was one she knew was perfect but she hesitated. There were many forms she had found in the course of her life that could be considered "troublesome" due to particulars of their anatomy or to how they affected her persona inside them but this particular one was one she would like to avoid at all costs. To put it simply, it was just nasty. There was no other choice so she would have to try really really hard not to kill everything in sight.

As the captain's sword approached her in another deadly arc aiming to decapitate the druid, Kae let herself dive to the ground as her nature magic worked and folded her lithe elven form into another far sturdier, far more dangerous and completely rabid [Shapeshift 9, two holds]. Once the blond elf once stood there was now a black coated mammal covered in white streak of dense fur and limitless rage. The honey badger needed no time to consider her position before it leaped straight into the tornado of blades searching only for flesh to render and blood to spill. [Hack and Slash 7, 6 damage]

[nice pick, tho we all know the wolverine is the most fearsome/compact of all animals]

Kealys's in her new form went to work viciously rending the flesh of the enemy commander, but even in this form there was no escaping retaliation.

The captain's sword dug deep in the ravenous beast's flank opening a huge gash but it did not lessen the creature's assault, if anything, the small critter looked far more enraged.

[12 damage taken, 6 HP remaining. (What a time to roll 10 on a d10 >.>) The wolverine and the honey badger are so close in the mustelidae family they might as well be twin brothers. =3 But what is my special move?]

Larek got up from being smacked on the ground by Kaelys. He then stood up and rushed in to attack the commander. As he approached the commander unleashed several blows towards Larek. The big orc tried to power trough the sudden onslaught of the commander so he can land a solid blow using his axe

[That's enough to kill the captain, after she dies the rest of the gnolls will bugger off with their captures and the raid ends. Go ahead and write how Larek kills her and If you like take a stab at narrating how the party regroups and how the scene transitions.]

The commanders flurry of blows didn't seem to phase Larek. He powered trough with his axe ready to slay the commander. With a sudden swing he hit the commander in the chest, breaking her ribs and damaging her heart. She tried to let out a small cry but was unable to talk. After a few seconds the life in her eyes vanished and the commanders lifeless body slumped to the ground at the orcs feet. Brushing her body aside he then looked around to see if there was any foe left.

[sweet kill]

With the death of their commander the Gnolls turned tail and ordered a full retreat.

The village was still smouldering in places as people rushed to put out the fires.

They were safe for now, but the loss if their kin weighed heavy on them,

Whitney, Reiya, Dillon, Rocky, and many others were taken captive to be used as slaves or worse.

The three remaining heroes gathered together in the center of town to regroup and plan their next move.

Kae's lips were furled in an open snarl that showed her pearl white teeth. "How did they even get here? This place is really harrrrd to find." She tried to steer her mind away from the possibility of a daemon working together with the kobolds, that was something for later. "I rrrreally like those furry buggers but keep in mind going that to the rrrescue will mean leaving the people from the fort to their luck. I doubt even you or I could track them after they aaaare sold." The elf bit her tongue trying to correct her speech. "Sorry, honey badger is a stubborn shape to leave behind."

"We already didn't have the numbers to take back the fort, even if the whole village were to help, but a gaggle of gnolls is another matter. Especially, if we can catch up to them before they get back to their lair, and regroup with their tribe," urged Tori.

"I suppose I owe them that much." The girl agreed openly. She had no love for those from the Fort and while she would like to help them simply for being in peril, she would not let these people who had welcomed her with open arms and treated her like she was kin to be taken be a gang of gnolls. "Lead the way then, the sooner we go the less chance we give them to recompose." She knew Tori would choose the same path she did but could not say the same for the orc as his beloved were among the Fort's prisoners. The elf bit her lip before asking the hard question. "Larek, are you coming?"
