So she won't ever have feelings for the PC?

That is the only thing stopping her getting pregnant right?

It was the same with Helia in CoC.

Wow. Wanting kids isn't a prerequisite for love.

Also worth noting that not every named character in a porn game needs to fall for the pc.

Seems the curse of the Pale Flame was inherited early...

Main thing I am looking forward to is being able to have Terry knock up my female pc. :)

Three words: The Pale Flame.

Now, don't presume to argue with authors over who understands their own works better.

Now what would be the reason for that? If I remember right The Pale Flame starts once a salamander is with that special someone.

Are you saying that Cassidy would never feel that way towards the PC?

Someone's been better brought up than that, yes.

Or that falling head over heels for a transient vagabond isn't really the best life choice one can make

Or that it would get in the way of her physically demanding work.

Or that spawning the bastards of a transient vagabond would be a slap in the face of the deceased grandmother she looks up to.

Or to mention that the character was created in part as a big middle finger to all those who continually demanded Helspawn incest by canonically denying it to them forever.

Just a small sample of the reasons why it will not happen.

Your tone seems rather harsh. I'm just basing this off of how The Pale Flame worked in CoC; it seemed like something that happened whether they wanted it to or not. In fact Helia seemed rather distraught herself over it.

So basically she doesn't give two shits about the PC which is why she'll never go into Pale Flame? Well, that's disappointing. I was hoping something could be done with Gemstead and hiring her as a blacksmith... I mean, that place basically becomes a home and a place of operations right? You wouldn't really be a vagabond then.

And creating her as a middle finger? I hope you'll forgive me for saying that's rather childish, about as childish as the constant clamoring. I don't mean to start a fight, I just dislike characters created for such reasons. Because then shit like this happens. I was really looking forward to the character as I liked her, but I guess that's out the window now. Just my luck I suppose.

EDIT: And by her not giving two shits, I mean it remains really just friend with benefits and nothing more serious? No matter how hard you'd try to woo her?

Haha, yeah.

I'm just disappointed if that's the case, she's right up my alley. I just want a good enough reason she won't go into the Pale Flame. I'd still romance if allowed and reciprocated, I just like some consistency.

From the impression I got, Savin wasn't enthralled by the Pale Flame in the first place; that it was actually more a case of giving into teh internetz peer pressure. And shortly after having completed it had a "what have I done" moment, and so backed away. Seen as a mistake, or perhaps even a regret; this was either not noticed or ignored by those captivated by it. And so a painful to watch tug-of-war began. The kind rebuffs for new content of that sort eventually became "Fucking knock it off already"- and that's all those captivated by that content see, and so declare he's being unreasonable. This venomous situation is being drawn out and exacerbated by the presence of the mod. This mini-history is relevant. Or maybe I'm waaay off.

As Observer mentioned, there are a myriad of practical reasons why Cass won't have that content. Seen out of context however, these reasons aren't likely to convince given "it's a porn game so reality doesn't matter and I want pregs". If I were to give a solid reason, I'd say it's the divide between how creators and players see characters. Players see content to devour. Creators may become attached, and may will want to craft characters that are more than just a warm blow-up doll. So final destination: 1) There's a lot of history surrounding Helia and her lineage. 2) Creators don't want to make empty characters; it doesn't matter what genre it is. If a creator feels something doesn't fit a character, it doesn't happen. Asking them to compromise to sate player wishes is pretty bullshit.

tl;dr version: You wouldn't call a novelist and seriously expect them to revise their character cause you wanted something else. Creators create, the player's job is to enjoy the ride.
tl;dr tl;dr version: Porn-game players be entitled yo

Yeah, see, I get that. I'm okay with that.

I'm disappointed, but I'm not going to force. I just want a good reason with the lore, a writer can write what they like and like I said creating her as a middle finger is a childish move in my eyes. I bitch about the same shit in books if I don't like it, it being a character used as an author's mouthpiece rather than be their own character... in this case it's more about what doesn't add up or make sense. I've been led to believe that her grandmother is from CoC, so then CoC's Pale Flame laws apply. That law being - if I remember right - a female salamander just goes into heat once they realize their feelings for someone - in denial or not. I just want some sense made from there. Like, Eden is a new world, maybe there's a magic that actually keeps the Pale Flame at bay. Or maybe she was born in Eden so the Pale Flame no longer applies on a biological level or something and she takes contraceptives.

I'm still gonna hope that maybe something can be done with Cassidy for Gemstead, but like I said; I'm not gonna force it. I want the writer in the zone.

Mostly, though, I just like the character and would rather they not be so easily discarded. If it won't be preg content - BOOOO, that's my fetish, yo - then I certainly hope there'll be something else.

Oh, well then: Helspawn is Cass's grandmother, which makes Helia her great-grandmother. That makes Cassidy only 1/8th CoC Salamander. Mega-heat is now mini-heat, if anything at all- more than enough for a modicum of willpower to overcome. If it's not mentioned in FoE lore, that's because that information was not passed down. Cass is certainly not gonna fourth wall break to tell the player information she wasn't privy to about something she may very well not experience. Tada~!

It is.

So basically she doesn't give two shits about the PC which is why she'll never go into Pale Flame? Well, that's disappointing.

As I said, falling in love with a wandering vagabond, which the PC is, is not a good life choice and she was raised better than that.

Well, that's disappointing. I was hoping something could be done with Gemstead and hiring her as a blacksmith... I mean, that place basically becomes a home and a place of operations right?

And this is an example of the problem I speak of, which is pretty much on the level of another guy who asked if Cassidy would give the PC the beautiful sword. The beautiful sword, which, I don't know, is a treasured family heirloom and a noted symbol, or at least a replica of such, to her people, with considerable history behind it. Yeah, she's just going to pack that up and give that to you.

No.

The first instinct when a lot of people write characters for TiTs (and CoC in the past) is to try and make that character a follower, at the very least. The impulse for this is completely understandable - followers are on the highest "tier" of characters seen to be close to the PC. Everyone wants their character to be important. Everyone wants to have the most excuses to write a variety of situations for their character.

The shop was carefully bought and paid for, a reputation established over years, and carefully handed down to her...and you think she's going to spit in her dad and grandma's eye to pack it all in and go traipsing around. You want to be serious, then be serious; not everyone is going to toss out their lives at the drop of a hat. People have responsibilities. Note that the people who tend to join you are already out for their own reasons, or don't have anchors rooting them to something else.

This is an example of what I meant earlier on when I said some actions would be, I don't know, "out of character".

And creating her as a middle finger? I hope you'll forgive me for saying that's rather childish, about as childish as the constant clamoring.

Savin rather enthusiastically approved it all, and his opinion is the only one which matters on this issue.

I mean it remains really just friend with benefits and nothing more serious? No matter how hard you'd try to woo her?

At the very least, there will be no pregs, and she will not abandon the shop. Cassidy's document is already over 200 pages; the only bigger projects that I've had are Cveta and the Air Plane.

If it won't be preg content - BOOOO, that's my fetish, yo - then I certainly hope there'll be something else.

Go bother Cveta, or Isla, or the gryphons theme room. I've already catered enough to that.

Oh, well then: Helspawn is Cass's grandmother, which makes Helia her great-grandmother. That makes Cassidy only 1/8th CoC Salamander.

Cass herself theorises that eventually her line will stop resembling humans together, and end up more like this:

I understand your annoyance, but I'm not exactly privy to most of the drama. Which largely seems IRC related? I barely stalk the forums let alone IRC. I just wanted to figure out what the plans was for this character, this is the most I've used the forums for since the old one got deleted. And even then, that one wasn't particularly entertaining, either.

As I said, falling in love with a wandering vagabond, which the PC is, is not a good life choice and she was raised better than that.

That's another thing; love isn't rational. You love who you love. It's an emotion, not reason. However, given the range of what the MC is or can be, I can see why you'd limit it to just fun times.

And this is an example of the problem I speak of,

I really can't think of a better reputation than "the blacksmith who aided the grand hero and saved the realm", etc. I understand what you mean she won't pack up and leave, but if the world is endangered what good is her shop? It's not so much spitting in their eye as protecting what she has using the skills she has. I'm not asking her to abandon any of that but rather put those skills to use to help save the world. If I suddenly acquired a place like the Gemstead I'd try to get the best whatevers to work there. Blacksmith, Alchemist, Wizard, General, etc. It's just what you do. If she still says no, though, then that's that. I just hope you understand where I'm coming from there.

People really asked for the Magical Sword, though? Yeesh. That seems pointless, it'll just get replaced by something stronger down the line.

Savin rather enthusiastically approved it all, and his opinion is the only one which matters on this issue.

I still find it childish. Warranted or not. I don't know all the specifics of what pissed him off, but something involving teasing with Anthro-Helia?

At the very least, there will be no pregs, and she will not abandon the shop. Cassidy's document is already over 200 pages; the only bigger projects that I've had are Cveta and the Air Plane.

That's fair. I just wanted to know what to expect.

Go bother Cveta, or Isla, or the gryphons theme room. I've already catered enough to that.

I wasn't being serious, I mean it is one of my fetishes, but I just said it to lighten the mood.

Seriously, though, I wasn't trying to get under your skin or anything... being polite doesn't hurt. Besides any of that, I already reached an accord thanks to MESeele. Nothing more is necessary.

Then call it a day. This conversation accomplishes nothing, so stop trying to get the last word in. If you like the character, don't be passive agressive toward the author.

Less "internet peer pressure" and more "Got commissioned by a good friend when I was a college student eating ramen." I enjoyed working on The Pale Flame at the time (enough to go way over what I was commissioned to do), but in hindsight I regret it pretty thoroughly from a creator standpoint, for several reasons. Not least of which being the incest hook, which I'd put it right before getting to a place where I couldn't write anything substantial for a lengthy period and CoC was suffering the early effects of temporarily becoming abandonware. Being hammered at by people demanding more from me literally every day for months when I really needed a vacation served to pretty decisively make me not want to do that, ever.

Part of me the last couple of years has really wanted to refund Hedrah her $300 or whatever and con Geddy into just ripping Helspawn out of the game wholesale. Happily, though, Fen's at least agreed to let me go back and revise late-state Helspawn and cut out the incest hooks for the 1.0 release. Actually, I should go do that right now while I'm not doing anything...

(Also Observer, <3 that avatar. Is there a high-res version anywhere? Me want. Nevermind, Alder hooked a 'mander up).

Is there a chance of getting a better relationship with Danie in Act 2? I wondering if all future farm related activities will be postponed until said Act.

What I like most about FoE is that most of the characters have enough self respect and depth that they don't reduce themselves to just being the PC's disposable plaything.

The most rewarding thing I have read recently is the defeated Lagon rewrite stuff, I loved the fact that Vena effectively says "Thanks PC for liberating us, you have our eternal gratitude, but this is my husband that I love, so we will be working at our relationship and not going with your crazy ass vengeance/torture/kill plans...Thank you very much."

And I am a guy who voted for Lagon

What I think I am saying, other than don't mess with the muse, is this is a porn Role-Playing game not a Porn role-playing game and is far the better for that.

My list as follows:

Fera: she's an adorable kitten and falls for the MC fairly well and I think could open her own shop in Gemstead if the writers wanted to go that route. (could easily be she wants to stick in out in Rigard though, abandoning one's home is not for the faint of heart.) She's adorable regardless and the kittens would be too.

Gwendy: been looking forward to her content in that regard for awhile now (that's if it's still happening. I'm not up-to-date on a lot of things so plans may have changed.). I have to admit that I like that she never completely loses her fire in the "MC dominates her" route.

Ophelia: the hot and brainy bunny girl we fight an entire warren (3 bunnies at a time) and a berserker bunny for and arguably one of the first characters the MC makes a connection with beyond "I beat and boinked you" or the nomad camp group. (she's one I'd like to bring with to Gemstead but figure it's all but certain she won't. She spent who knows how long trying to get her mother back and help her warren set up as a stable colony. I can't imagine her just up and leaving without profound reasons.)

Mother tree: I copy an earlier post and say the name sums it up.

Orchid: not at the same time as mother, but she does have a crush on the MC and maybe could join the MC to establish her own grove in Gemstead (again, only if writers decide that way. I have no idea if there are plans for her to stay in the glade or not.) and have lots of little saplings.

Miss Nexelle: could use a good humbling and expand her business into baby-clothes...the MC is going to need them.

Maria: First meeting, can match strength with her and if MC plays cards right...much sweating of different kinds hehehe, plus she can fight and sneak and is an all-around warrior woman. What's not to love?

Lucille: And insurmountable mountain that would look even better with more "peaks" as it were. Know it won't happen but still fun to imagine.

Kia: She needs a lot of support before it can happen so while it'll be nice, for story reasons I'm willing to wait.

Jeanne: Gorgeous, smart and magically powerful....must make babies! Joking aside, she seems incredibly lonely and puts up with a lot at court, an empathizable character and one that helps a great deal. Not hard to become attached to the voluptuous elf.

Isla: I have no idea if her preg content is happening, already happened, or not happening at all (although her dialogue after the initial sex scene seems to suggest it.) but I like how dedicated she is to her job, how she has a plan to make sure the kids would be safe and cared for, and I have a thing for Sable/martin morphs.

Momo: This is a purely "it would have been awesome" part of the list as I completely get her character has been...ended(?) I suppose the term is. She has a stable bit in the game with the restorative food and while I grew attached to her and her large family inclinations, she had a fairly minimal presence as far back as 0.2 something.0 which is when I started so I'm not broken up about her not making it.

Rosalin: One I DON'T want as a baby-moma in game, holy gods after all she's done to herself she'd be spawning D&D 3.5 Chaos beasts. Just figured since I mentioned Jeanne Rosalin should get an honorable "Aw HELL NO!"

Mothgirl: Why should Dragons get all the fun?

Asche: Yeah, if Lucille is an insurmountable Peak, then Asche is the Mount Everest of FoE and getting to impregnate her would be worth w/e excruciating tasks the devs would come up with if it were actually happening.

Now to Cassidy. I like the character, I like the history of the family in relation to CoC...and I have to say I agree with TheObserver that it would be out of character. I didn't really like the incest hook/potential to begin with (not knocking those who do, but the squick I felt when it would come up...and after seeing Cassidy's family history I felt that confirmed.) or the sophie daughter bit either, so the recounting of Helspawn's escape gives a harsh but not dishonest mirror of the behavior of the MC and Helia.

I have to say I didn't consider the bit about the shop but at the same time once it was brought up...yeah her family is stubborn by nature and giving up the shop her family built and bequeathed to her would not only be out of character, but break her part of the story. As for the beautiful sword...meh, never got attached to it beyond easy early level item.

All in all, would it have been nice, yes. But I actually respect the character more for sticking to her guns and while enjoying her time with the MC, not losing herself to the MC and the MC's goals. She and the MC have a good thing going and there's no reason to ruin it. Although I will say I am curious as to the criteria for the special moves she is supposed to teach during the spars.

For those wondering what Observer was hinting at, he's working on a set of nameless unique NPCs who'll serve as random encounters in the hills, including a girly-boy catmorph mage and a female centaur - those two have both, to my knowledge, been written, coded and pushed on github.

Ditto, taurs aren't high on my list of kinks but it's always fun to have new characters to interact with in FoE.

Side question relating to the main topic...How badly is the sound barrier going to be broken the moment Cveta has the "all-clear" from her father to be with the MC and she tackles him for some serious baby-making?

Hmmm, good point. I tend to play male MCs so it isn't an issue for me but still a valid question to be sure.
