can someone explain to me the difference between the downloads of swf versus air zip? other then file type of course

you'll need some kind of flash player for the swf, while you'll have to unzip the zip, but then you can just click the application in that folder to play.
The file type is the only difference, yeah. Just depends on if you want to play in your browser or a standalone window.
