What so I am not allowed to lament about a writers work not being finished?
nobody is stopping you. i'm simply stating that in this specific scenario, this is the sort of vehement reaction you should expect because off all the context you seem intent to ignore.

Someone SHOULD finish it if I can be honest,
But from what I am hearing from all of you its like saying a famous architect wrote down brilliant building plans, laid the foundation and then had to stop for one reason or another and having others say it shouldn't be finished as a nod or tribute to them or as a way to 'respect' them.
you are ignoring the part where it was stated that
Their depression might have leaked through in their writing. Just a bit.
would you finish a great architects work if they had allowed major structural flaws into its foundation?

I find this unfathomably idiotic and in a way disrespectful to the artist themselves.
and i find it idiotic that you, who admitted to be lacking in talent for writing, seem to disregard the opinion of people who do have talent in writing when they say its best to leave Will's work alone.
Anyone who has the writing ability necessary to finish them also has enough brains to recognize what a horrible idea it would be,

Did the author say he wanted it left unfinished?
i quite literally just showed evidence that Will deliberately did not submit at least one project that was otherwise considered complete.

Yet still you say that people wondering if it will ever be done or express interest in either completing it themselves or wondering if someone should just drop it and leave it abandoned and yet you all claim to NOT be gate keeping and white knighting? THAT is hypocrisy.
no, its not white knighting. nobody is trying to protect anybody from anything else with the moral high ground. you received a (strongly worded) recommendation to not follow a given train of thought because of established history and information.

and no, its not gatekeeping. that recommendation included a suggestion to write something else, rather than follow a bad train of thought.

and it certainly isn't hypocrisy, which isn't even relevant in this conversation. it would be hypocrisy if we were saying not to complete something and then went ahead and completed something else ourselves.

like many people, you seem intent on cherry picking and ignoring information that doesn't validate you.

Well first off that is ENTIRELY subjective. And just because something has connotations of depression doesn't mean it can't be well written or a work of art, not to mention there are a variety of books, stories, movies, art etc that are EXTREMELY depressing yet people consume it anyway.
would you finish a great architects work if they had allowed major structural flaws into its foundation?
I would fix them, if it was needed, then finish it, simple as. But as said any attempt to even look, judge for ourselves, or even just wing it is looked down on and gets viciously attacked.
and i find it idiotic that you, who admitted to be lacking in talent for writing, seem to disregard the opinion of people who do have talent in writing when they say its best to leave Will's work alone.
So the reader has ZERO input in the process? Does a reader's critique mean so little? I don't generally write stories as I consider myself a hack, I gravitate more towards singing and songwriting anyway.
i quite literally just showed evidence that Will deliberately did not submit at least one project that was otherwise considered complete.
That does not prove any intent on their part, it is ENTIRELY up to interpretation. For all we know they were just dissatisfied with it and would prefer if someone else stepped in and picked up with what they finished already.

You seem damn intent on trying to dissuade people from lamenting about or continuing a well done work, in some blind belief it will protect the previous author in some way.
and no, its not gatekeeping. that recommendation included a suggestion to write something else, rather than follow a bad train of thought.
Yes it is gatekeeping as you are denying or attacking anyone seeking an opportunity to at least TRY to work on it. Case in point our recent tiff here!
and it certainly isn't hypocrisy, which isn't even relevant in this conversation. it would be hypocrisy if we were saying not to complete something and then went ahead and completed something else ourselves.
Its hypocrisy in the sense that we are all free to work or submit anything we like EXCEPT anything related to mentioned unfinished content, because if god forbid someone makes that intention know they get dogpiled immediately. Again hypocrisy.
like many people, you seem intent on cherry picking and ignoring information that doesn't validate you.
Says the person who is ignoring any sense of practicality or logic.

Marsproject, the horse is dead. You've beaten it into paste. You've beaten the paste to it's constituent chemicals. You've beaten the chemicals into their constituent elements. You've beaten the elements into their constituent protons, electrons, and neutrons. You've beaten the leptons and baryons into a quark-gluon plasma. If you continue you will have beaten them down to their constituent quantum super-strings. While that might be interesting to the people at the Large Hadron Collider, it is NOT INTERESTING to the people on this board.
You have been told as plainly as possible that it is not happening.
Yet you continue to whine about it, ignoring reality in favor of your childish desires.

Have you considered running for office? You'd make a great Senator....

I simply ask questions and the answers given are so full of holes that a screen door on a submarine could hold back more water than they could.

I continued to 'whine' as you say because I lament about content I VERY much enjoyed not being continued and ask basic questions as to why and then get attacked and mocked out of nowhere.

I do not live on these boards like some of you apparently, why waste time going through 400+ pages of comments and replies when I can simply ask a question and then when I do I get verbally assaulted for not knowing about an author who left months if not years ago who left no specific instruction NOT to continue their work.

Then when I ask about it you all act like I spit in your face, and even more so when I point that out?

THAT is childish.

Then there is the fact apparently this SPECIFIC author's works are held so fundamentally sacred that any thought or idea expressed about them being revived or continued is held with such contemptable vitriol that simply ASKING about it is warrant for people to shit on you for it.

THAT is ignorantly childish.

Also I was raised to always question authority and to NEVER assume anything, which I feel is generally good life advice.
Have you considered running for office? You'd make a great Senator....
Hell no, I may be depressed but I'm not morally bankrupt.
