In the age of spacefaring, every sector shifts and changes. Wars exchange for smaller-scale warfare; armies replaced with crime and law enforcement funding. A utopia flawed with countless ways for small nations and the like to birth overnight and potentially lure the lumbering warships into action.
The foundation of the Warden System helped right this; the cross-border enforcement of laws to create a multi-racial and multi-national sphere of nations to band together like an individual world might. Wardens are assigned to sectors that may be contested by other nations, ensuring shifting borders spreads this more and more.
The Melphina Sector is the next to get the system. The construction of WS-Melphina Alpha - a station that acts like a precinct house among many roles - marked the need to hire two rangers. The first warden and their first partner and subordinate, Warden-001 and Warden-002. A ship ferrying the warden to the station will eventually become hers... the first Quotra warden. The two seated fighter was a simplistic design, with smooth curvature and forward-facing rapid-pulse lasers molded into the body. It was an ideal way to fire at something while chasing it... and the two seats meant one could fly and fire while the other worked systems and helped manage the built-in repair drones. The perfect tool for a warden to fix ships for travelers and face down criminals.
The ship gently banks, gliding into the open hanger with a soft settling. The atmosphere containment barrier in-place made it fine to open the hatch... just in time for the new Warden to see the skiff carrying her goods sliding across the ground by their tow cable.
“Welcome to your new station Warden... good luck.” The pilot climbed out in their concealing suit, taking a few steps down the pilot ladder to drop to the ground. “An Alpha-class station might be the smallest, but ferrying you wardens from those massive Zeta-class to these sure gives you an idea of how important even small steps like this are.”
The hanger was strangely empty... not even painted. It was only big enough to fit two small craft like hers but the potential it had would mean she’d need bots or staff one day. The manager aspect of her job would really need to be considered between running cases... but it seemed she was the first to make it. Still no sign of her first partner.
