thanks, this is all very useful feedback.

I thought the stealth generator was built into the combat logic. I'll take a look at that.

I didn't want to restrict resting and masturbatation as it is hard enough. however I probably should outside

Just finished the fight myself. Playing a level 10 ranged smuggler, maxed all stats, using the Supercharged Laster Pistol as my weapon. For me, the trash mobs were trivially easy, as I either one or two shot every one of them. The boss was slightly trickier due to the shield, but I just yeeted a grav cuff at it and it went down like a schmuck.

I suppose bringing a fire weapon to a fight that's explicitly weak to fire likely helped a lot.

I did the quest in the hopes of getting frostwyrm ichor, but so far I can't seem to figure out where to get it, as Dr. Lessau doesn't say anything else after finishing the quest, and it was nowhere down there.

Is it possible to get any hints for that?

You need to have frosty as a waifu. If you do than there should be a topic in Dr Lessau's talk menu after you complete the quest.

I thought the stealth generator was built into the combat logic. I'll take a look at that.
Now that Accuracy directly counters Evasion, if the janeria's attack has a high enough Accuracy, it might effectively ignore Evasion. Especially since the Depthsuit has -10. At this point a Smuggler could have say, the Gemstone Links otherwise.
Level 9 Smuggler:
Royal Shard Bow + Hardlight Dagger + Gemstone Links + Light Jetpack + Jumper Shield = 70% Evasion
Black Light Rifle + Trick Bracer + Depthsuit + Light Jetpack + Jumper Shield = 29% Evasion

Also, while testing this, Typhon stunlocked me a couple of times. 6 Willpower, but still.

level 10 tech specialist here, beat the janeria core pretty easily on the first encounter

pretty much akane's paintslut perk + corrupted for max libido = uber damage reduction

I initially tried the bread and butter combo of using FZR fire suppression system + custom shock gear, noted nothing happened against the Janeria when I punched them, so I just shot and froze them dead.
I had a saurmorian hammer in my inventory in case something resisted electric damage, so I tried it on the second Janeria and it worked just fine, then I got the card, fought typhon, froze him then whacked him with the hammer
upload_2020-3-8_11-24-47.png

if he wasn't already mangled before he was now.
did the same to the janeria core
upload_2020-3-8_11-27-11.png

I didn't take screenshots the first time through, but I had a bad feeling that killing the AI was the wrong choice considering the grey goos could probably do something, so I took the AI bead on the second time through.

As far as feedback goes, I would say Janeria should be freeze proof and immune to frost damage considering they could probably just spend minuscule amounts of electric charge to warm themselves if needed. Perhaps a secret super hard battle with like 5 janeria cores at once if you spend too long outside of the station or attempt to move west when you reach this spot

I play a Ranged Merc, and all of the fights were pretty easy at Lvl 10. I run with Ice Cappers, BDS, Pirate Shield, Pump-king's Platemail, and the Dancing Flashblade. I did notice a couple oddities, though.

First, my BDS kicked off even though my shields had not been depleted. See attachment for a screenshot.

Second, I had to fight the Janeria Core twice. I beat it the first time, tried on my new and improved Goo Armor (I keep Betty in my inventory for clean-ups and as a sidekick), then walked West from the tile where I fought the Core and immediately drowned because I was no longer wearing the depthsuit. If Steele is no longer wearing the depthsuit, the option to walk West from the generator room really should be blocked off with a hypertag that says, "You wanna die, you idiot?" Luckily, I saved just before entering.

Pushed some changes to the code to make the electric healing clearer to the player. Also preventing fapping out in the ocean.

Left the option for the player to suicide by walking back outside without the depthsuit. Just like there is no warning if you change out of it while outside, it's the players fault for not paying attention. That could change in the future if Fen thinks it should be done.

Didn't make anymore balance tweaks for now. I want to give it a bit more time once the electrical healing feedback improvements are in.

edit: stealth field generator just adds 80 to evasion, so its functionality is dealt with outside of the combat code for a particular enemy. Fen made changes to the way evasion works recently, so it may not work like you are used to.

The entire dungeon is lust immune, so I think impossible to beat with your lvl 1 tease build.
I managed to beat up the little guys and the drone though there is like a 75% I get one-shotted when it bypasses my shields (45 HP with Warden shield and some other stuff), managed to beat it down with the glacial-thing from Dhaal. It took about 50 attempts before getting the right equipment config.

The janeria doesn't seem doable at the moment. I just couldn't get the fire suppression thing to proc.

Thinking about it, the Laser Sentry Drone has both sets of weaknesses. It negates the +3 Shields/Level from the Attack Drone perk like the other Drone Accessories, and also is disabled at 0 Shields like the default Drone.
Since it's described as a 'Module' that can be swapped out for the default weapon, could it be a Key Item and/or a toggle between Electric and Burning instead of a separate Drone? As an Interact in the Inventory, maybe.

You bring up your FZR Fire Suppression System as you roll out of the way, bracing yourself. A shot strikes the pile of fuel cells, producing a plume of orange fire as they explode right under Janeria. The blast is powerful enough to send you flying, knocking you against the corner of the room with enough force that you black out for a second.

It may be that not everyone sees the problem here, but it seems strange to me to arrange an explosion with a fire extinguisher.

I also find it difficult to imagine a living creature with natural shields, but I still will not argue about the realism of such creatures. What if it turns out to convince and my Valeria will lose hers new quality, which is a plus to the shields.))

Level of difficulty?

You overcharge your “Black Light” ultraviolet laser rifle and land a hit on Janeria Core! (S: -112)

“Enemy detected, mistress Allison! I will defend you!” Tam-wolf announces, leaping into the fray. He hits, biting Janeria Core. (S: -12) Good boy!

One of the jellyfish’s tendrils elongates as it sweeps out towards you, stretching from four feet long to dozens in a heartbeat.
The slap connects with a sharp whip crack, sending you briefly staggering before you recover your stance. Your shield crackles but holds. (S: -78)
One of the jellyfish’s tendrils elongates as it sweeps out towards you, stretching from four feet long to dozens in a heartbeat.
The slap connects with a sharp whip crack, sending you briefly staggering before you recover your stance. There is a concussive boom and tingling aftershock of energy as your shield is breached. The attack continues on to connect with you! (S: -8, H: -40)

The slap connects with a sharp whip crack, sending you briefly staggering before you recover your stance. The attack directly impacts you! (H: -45)

You fall to the ground, defeated.

Characteristics: Level 8, 40 all stats.
Equipment: weapons and accessories are visible in the quote, the armor is obvious due to the (location) of the enemy, the shield generator is Ozone Aegis.

Didn’t mention something? Unless immobilization, from which physics 50 does not help, two moves in a row.

A techno melee specialist with characteristics of 50 passed the first attempt, but this is not surprising. After all, if such a build with such stats equipment did not pass, then it would be completely idiocy. Not mentioned equipment?

Melee Weapon: Predator Talons
Ranged Weapon: FZR Fire Suppression System
Armor: Akkadi Armored Depthsuit
Shield: Prototype Pirate Shield
Accessory: Light Jetpack

The base drone didn’t interfere in the battle, the command was given not to attack (when the command was forgotten during the second attempt and not given immediately, then the shield booster had to be used and almost no health left).

Perks? Common (?) melee build with attacking drone.

Attack drone
Charge weapon
Deflector regeneration
Gravidic disruptor
Second attack
Drone control
Boosted charges

so, lvl 10 Ranged Smuggler. Petra's Phasic Whip, Teyaal's Heavy Plasma Caster, Prototype Pirate Shield, Goo Armor and Mk 2 Aim-Assisting Eyepiece.

have to say that I had very little problem as a range character. despite warnings I jumped into it first time with the Lash Cannon and managed to reach Janaria where I lost the endurance battle (oh and apparently she can start the fight with the Lightning Flood, don't know if that's intentional).
went back to the ship to grab the Plasma Caster and gray goo (since I forgot her the first time) and absolutely demolished everyone. Typhon got lucky once and killed me by spamming his shield-piercing move. the Plasma Caster made for a very entertaining fight against Janaria since she seems to soak up fire dmg better than cold dmg which made it a very dynamic combat encounter that forced me to not just spam shoot.

other than that I love the overrun sealab's atmosphere. the creepy feel that an emergency evacuation leaves behind was captured really well. Love what you did with corrupt Typhon and the description of the Janaria when you see it in the distance leeching off the generator was perfect (and the new transformative did become a personal preference). Overall great dungeon. not too hard but will kick your ass if you treat it like any other.

Thanks for the feedback and glad you liked the quest. Couch did a great job writing it and I've done my best to make the mechanics and balance live up to the story.

There is currently no limitation on when the janeria core can use the lighting flood. I might consider limiting it to turn 3+ or something at some point.

I spent a few more time for battles as an eighth level tech specialist.

I was very "pleased" that Typhon stuns for 4 turns (is this legal at all?) and has immunity to the stunning effect of EMP grenades (the only opponent without electricity immunity, but this one is also cheater...), which is hard to explain. Is the protection of local AI shielded from EMP impulses at the army level of sustainability? But then how did Janeria manage to break it?

Janeria core and its spawn...

Advice was given from Dr. Lessau bring fire or ice weapons, but where is at least some information about the arsenal of the foes ?! I took a shield Ozone Aegis to protect me from electricity (electric fish after all?)...
Is it powered by electricity, treated by electricity, but has KINETIC damage?

Also, I don’t quite understand the boss’s excess damage for the quest of the eighth level, in the case of a techno-specialist class, the average character of the eighth level will have approximately 85 health and 100-175 shields (60..95 shield generator + 40..80 perks) with their restoration only two times (+100 instantly an approximately +30..45 for 4 turns) per battle. Therefore, up to 100 of damage per turn...

Perks:
Attack drone
Overcharge
Deflector regeneration
Gravidic disruptor
Gun tweaks
Shield hack
Second attack

Equipment:
Black Light Rifle as a ranged weapon (the entire battle was used overcharge). Trick Bracer in the melee slot for a plus to shields and evasion. JoyCo Shield Generator (Elite) as a shield generator.

Black light.png

Rocket Hammer as a melee weapon (not used), FZR Fire Suppression System as a long-range battle (used the whole battle overcharge), Hammer Shield as a shield generator (since these opponents suddenly have kinetic damage, and not electric).

HP 17.png

Rocket Hammer as a melee weapon (not used), FZR Fire Suppression System as a long-range battle (used the whole battle overcharge), JoyCo Shield Generator (Elite) as a shield.

HP 19.png

Rocket Hammer as a melee weapon, FZR Fire Suppression System as a long-range battle (at the beginning of the battle, a normal freeze shot), JoyCo Shield Generator (Elite) as a shield.

Rocket hammer.png

In all four cases
Armor: Akkadi Armored Depthsuit (Dressed for battle with Janeria core, before that was Suit of Gray Goo Armor.)
Accessory: Light Jetpack
I had a Prototype Pirate Shield, but was not used as a item obtained near the end of the so far written part of the main quest. Similar logic has been applied to weapons: no unique or insanely expensive.

In the first three cases, a shield booster and Deflector Regeneration were used.

Due to the enormous damage of blunt weapons at a frozen enemy, the last attempt was easy and simple. I won’t be surprised if in future versions this "exploit" will be removed to "equalize" the melee and ranged fighters.

And I find the ability to freeze water completely strange for a creature vulnerable to cold. Indeed, according to the logic of things, such a trick with carelessness is more dangerous for it than for me!

Reflexes Save Critical Failure.
Failture.png

In my opinion this should not be. After all, if I have with reflexes 40 (a quest of level 8 rather than 10, therefore it is more appropriate to look at the capabilities of a character of level 8) this is possible, what can we say about those unfortunates with reflexes below 40?

P.S. In my attempts, I did not use the Nova shield, since the Hammer shield with 45% Kinetic resistance seemed to me more effective than 30% Kinetic resistance and +25 to shields. The Hammer shield turned out to be less effective than the JoyCo Shield Generator (Elite) with its Shield Defense 7.

Just do what I do when a Boss cheats: throw the joystick at the cat and ask my mom make me some chocolate milk and a grilled cheese sammich (No crust, mom! You know I hate crust!).

Your ridicule is inappropriate. The combination of stunning + ignoring shields is really dangerous. If you are a technician of the eighth level with shields that fell strongly at the time of stunning, you can die even without this sound attack ignoring shields.
Yes, accident is the enemy of the player in any game, but in such battles it is not at all funny. Or are you pleased when the victory is affected not by your tactics and equipment, but by RANDOM?

You might make a case for a particular enemy or attack being overpowered, but cheating? Unless the program achieves sentience and decides to discard its rules and guidelines, it can never cheat. It can only do exactly what its programmer tells it to do within a framework of rules. If those rules allow too much freedom to decide which attacks and/or weapons to use during any given turn or if the probability of said attack occurring based on...drumroll...random rolls of the digital dice is too great, then again, OP, not cheating.

Cheating is when you tell your friend you don't have a 7 when you actually have two, or peek between your fingers to see where your brother's hiding before you finish counting to 20.

please keep things civil in here. all feedback and experiences are valid and helps give me an idea what needs more tweaking.

normal stun duration is 2 turns, the 4 is only on a critical hit ( 5% chance)

while the janeria are powered by electricity, they also have psionics. this allows them to do other attack types. varied attack types make it a more challenging enemy. the cold slurry attack by the janeria core is just around you , it doesn't do the entire room.

keep in mind the janeria core is a 10th level boss and should be difficult for an 8th level character to beat.

thanks again for the feedback. it will be considered when I do some more balancing

I'm sorry but for me it's impossible, the problem is that I didn't know that I was going to fight and need a precise equipment and know I'm blocked and can't go out, my last save is in just before Janeria so I can't just use my last save but to just fight it again and again since the last hour, I need to know what I can do to teleport outside or if something else can help me fight it, because with my 200shield and 205hp I can't fight him

I have the same Shield and HP stats (or close enough). Attach a save here and I'll take a look and see if you're truly boned or if I can find a way to fight through.
