To contribute to the inevitable chaos, he adds an illusion of one of the large birds to the roost, setting it up in the trees behind the rest. Two of the lizans yelp and duck, but the third immediately turns and fires the arrow, which goes clean through the illusion. The look of surprise on his face is almost comical, as the bird goes right through him. They chitter something to each other, then immediately start looking around.

Klaus tries to sidestep back into the cover of the trees, hoping to gain a guerrilla warfare-style element of surprise on his attacks. If this works, he pops only his head and hand out into the clearing, throwing a fireball at the bow-wielding lizan.
