He laughs and follows her up the stairs till they reach the top floor. When they exit the stairwell, they see that they are surrounded by ancient, leather bound scrolls and parchments, most of which look like they're about to fall apart.
"Oookay... We have to go through all of that?" Khorvis says, nudging her side and pointing to a kit that looks like it was specifically designed to be used with extremely old books.

"Yes. Don't actually touch any of them... use the kits over there. The oils on your skin may very well cause the books to fall apart." She say while grabbing a kit for herself before stepping over to start looking. "These things will be old.... very old.... though not the oldest things here as... holy shit, that is the first verse of the damned up there... That predates this city!"
"Eh? I have no clue what you're talking about. What the fuck are those?" He asks, wandering around till he picks up another one of the books, which looked like it had been bound in the skin of a living organism. "Uhhh... A Concise... And... Clear... Compendium of... The Royal... Bottles? No.... Battles. Okay this looks interesting..." He murmurs, sitting opposite her.
The book details the rules of the challenges, before going into detail about the fights between the contesting rulers, and then into a little extra detail when it came to what happened to whoever lost the fight.

The rules stated that anyone could challenge the ruler, but that they also had to have a sufficiently large following to do so. They could use any weapon they chose. The battle would take place in two stages. The first would be the stage of physical combat, and the second would be a stage of magical combat. The challenger could, if they wanted to, bring exactly ONE person along, and that person would fight in only one round, and not the second. For example, she could fight in the physical, but someone else would have to fight the magical battle. If they failed, she would have to take their place.

"Hmm.. so I can bring one person with me to fight one of the phases. Obviously I would want someone to step in for phsycal combat... if that is the case I could focus on magic training and over power her there."

He snorts. "Yeah. Figured. You sure I'm strong enough to go up against a Queen, though? I mean... I don't think I'm that strong." He murmurs, chuckling.
"Khorvis... you just went through an army of chimera... and she wouldn't be able to use magic against you so no cheap spells... just straight up fighting! Even if she tries to fly that leaves her very open to counter attacks. It's either you fight her... or I have to get more hulking strong than an Ultima!"

"Still, I highly doubt the Queen is in charge of what the historians write down." He says, replacing the book before walking for the stairs, and then pointing at the wall. "I saw timelines here on the way up. Didn't realise what they were at first, but I do now. Keep an eye on them. Tell me when we reach the one in which the Queen came into power." He says, standing to the side to let her go ahead.
Eventually, they find the one that had the Queen's name on it.
"Well, here we are. I think what we're looking for should be right in the start..." He murmurs, narrowing his eyes as he looks at the bookcases.

It merely details the fight between her and the previous ruler, and what she and Jackal did afterwards.
"Okay, maybe a little later? I mean... She didn't kick Jackal out almost immediately, right? Might have taken a year or two?" Khorvis murmurs, walking along the shelves, his fingers running over the spines of the books. "Bedtime Romps? What the hell...?"

"Well, no, but who the fuck would record this!? I mean, imagine sitting there in the room while there's an orgy going on, and trying not to touch your boner, while documenting what's going on. In detail. That sucks, if you ask me." He says, shaking his head and moving on.
It's detailing her policies. Interestingly enough, Jackal was nowhere to be seen. Hmm... Perhaps she was very close...
This one details the period in which she had cast Jackal out. In fact, the entire book was related to only that case. Apparently the author had also filled it with his own comments on what he thought had happened.
