Hello. So I have an idea for an accessory. The accessory would ideally be for tech specialists, although anyone can use it. It would be more useful in battles where enemies charge their attack or have some kind of tell for a powerful attack like the Tarkus boss. I haven't finished it yet and there is still a lot of the template wording in it. Let me know what you think. I'm not a good writer but I tried making it as wordy as I could. Anyway here it is:

Now to wait for shenanigans where it malfunctions and you're balls deep on xenocock.

Balance-wise, it didn't seem too off skimming it. I'm not sure how relocation/teleportation technology works in TiTS though, so can't speak much on the implications it'd have on that front.

Anyone have any thoughts on how I could improve the idea?
Maybe instead of teleporting, it uses up the remaining shield power and a bunch of energy to create a stronger force field thing. Maybe hardlight technology?

Unfortunately I don't think teleporting is gonna work. Gate technology has been tried to be made smaller once, but that ended up with a certain someone getting her vagina swapped with anothers dick, and said other disappeared to One knows where.

You know, I honestly thought this was a promotion for a TED Talk before I checked the section it was posted in.

So like that one ability in the earlier Halo games multiplayer where Master Chief pounds the ground and becomes invincible for a brief period of time? I don't think using up the remaining shield power would be viable. Mercs would probably be the only one that could use it since they have a huge health pool

I wouldn't know really. Haven't played Halo :p
But my "idea" was that you get a so called "super shield". Something like an improved shield, or hard light technology used to make a wall or something able to withstand one attack (Rho Aias!!!). After that it disappears and you use up some energy in the process.

Of course I don't really have a full understanding of the combat system. What is energy really? f.ex.

But it's just a suggestion of course :p

In the very least you should probably PM one of the devs about the validity of using teleporation tech.

Teleporting is done by warp tunnels, which are, last I checked, very big and expensive and not available for personal use.

Edit: Of course anything that's not explicitly mentioned ingame can be changed whenever anybody feels like it.

It might actually be better to switch it off of teleportation into a shield. Right now, since there aren't many enemies that have tells for super attacks (at least as far as I can tell), it's not very useful of an accessory if all it does is negate damage for a single turn. That's why I was wanting to add the bit about damage. It would make it more worthwhile to use it.

Ooh, idea. What if it creates a hardlight field around Steele briefly (~ the length of 1 attack). Then, damage dealt to Steele gets reflected back at the attacker when the shield pops. The damage value would be based on the damage type (0% Tease damage gets absorbed, 100% energy, 50% kinetic, etc.) and would affect the enemy, although it make more sense if it's an AOE because it would look weird if it were a shaped blast from a hardlight shield that surrounds you, unless it were made to look like a brick wall type of thing but made out of hardlight. Then it would make sense that it only hits one person. That way you still get dealt the bonus tease damage if they tease you, because you're still paying attention for the timing. But then it would be weird saying that a front-facing shield were to block, say, a grenade explosion. The explosion would still be able to go around the shield. But the only way to check for that is if all weapons and attacks were given another tag of [DIRECT] or [INDIRECT]. But then the player could be given 2 options for the accessory ability. A direct attack shield that blocks the direct tag and only counter attacks the attacker and an all encompassing shield that uses much more shield but blocks both direct and indirect attacks and damages all enemies. But, so, yeah, since there would be no feasible way to know what attack the enemy is going to use next (unless they had a specific pattern for attacks, but that's essentially a tell), just negating damage is pointless there is a loss with low chance of a payout. I'm not a gambler so I don't actually know if that's an okay gamble that people would want to make, but I wouldn't. At least with that additional thing, the damage that would have been dealt to you gets sent back at the attacker. That way you could theoretically come out ahead by trading some shield damage for, possibly more, damage to them. What do you think, also how's my writing? Is it passable?

Edit:
Wow, sorry for the wall of text

And even that can be changed. Remember what happened to Steph?

Shield cost as a % rather than a leveled/static amount makes this vary tech unfriendly. Plus, pretty much nothing announces that they're about to use that one attack that will wreck your day. So... this is pretty much useless. And i resent the "ideally for tech specialists" blurb. This is anything but techie useful.

My suggestion for making the concept that would be somewhat similar to the original idea (defensive accessory working as a shield attachment) but require slightly less fiddling and avoiding dealing with granting outright invincibility to the PC:

  • (Optional) Passive effect: exchange a certain % of PC's shield maximum capacity (before applying any perks that increase it) in exchange for a small boost to shield's resistances.
  • Active special, 1 use per combat: exchange some of your energy or current shield points for a significant boost in shield's resistances that lasts 3 turns.
  • New awful name suggestions: Temporary Energy Dampener (Diffusion Device?); TED or TEDD
  • If you really want to make it grant some lust based penalties, which I personally don't think is a good idea, you can make the active special apply penalties to some (or all) of PC's Lust resistances for the same 3 turn duration.
Other notes: you'll probably be better off if you make it a guaranteed find and place it on Uveto (or an even more late game planet). Few things tick people off more than decent gear - or any item, really - they can miss out on due to RNG and with low success chances to boot. Or you can just make it an expensive gadget for PC to buy if they feel like experimenting with new gear.

Also, change access settings of the doc to allow others leave suggestions.
