I usually create a ranged tech and I always grab Gravidic distruptor.
I took Gravidic, too, but I'm thinking my next playthrough will take Thermal, instead. I don't really use Gravidic, and Thermal would be helpful for the Janeria fight.
I been leaning a bit to turret's because of how you can spam them and survivability but always feel they could get left in the dust in the future considering their damage doesn't scale, but that's probably because they would mow through everything if they did. Hopefully they can get upgraded, like to rocket pods.
You don't get it for the damage, you get it for the extra Shields/HP. Granted, that doesn't scale, either.
There was an old design document with their ideas for Levels 9 - 12. Some didn't make it in, like Shield Bubble (got replaced with Overclock). Companions receive 1/2 of the Shields restored by Power Surge/Deflector Regeneration. Nigh useless opposite Turret, but synergizes nicely with it. I'm hoping it will be a Level 13 choice. Especially if they go through with the rework to make Drones creatures.
That's why I mentioned how it seems to be good only for bursting down enemies/boss
I'm not sure it's even good for that. If you have Second Attack/Shot, it only gives 1 extra attack. (2 + 2 + 2 + 2) vs (0 + 3 + 3 + 3). It's actually better if you don't (2 extra). It also doesn't enable multi-attacks with weapons that can only be used once/turn, like the Slut Rays. (Unlike Rapid Fire/Sturm & Drang.)
Overcharge is 2x damage, can Crit (4x total) and Stun for 20 Energy.
Overclock could probably use a buff.
