Tech Specialist Builds?

So what are some of the optimal tech specialist builds? I have gotten interested in doing my first one with the new Siegwulfe as the accessory. Can anyone give me some tips?

Drones are pretty much the least optimal build in the game, and domwulfe ain't changing that.

Note that 'Unoptimal' does not mean 'Unviable'.

The nice things about drones are:
1: As far as I can tell, they can't miss. (With the caveat that Tam-Wolf and the non-bimbo Siegwulfe are melee only, and so can't hit flying targets, but the default Drone is ranged.)
2: They have their effect even if you can't take an action or don't attack (grappled, stunned, stood up that turn, swapped weapons, etc.), making certain enemies much easier.

Keep in mind Dommewulfe does Lust damage, regardless of which Siegwulfe model you upgraded. Doing some quick testing, the Attack Drone and Drone Control perks don't seem to increase Dommewolf's Lust output.

Melee techs are pretty good. Charge Weapon shreds shields and mechanical enemies extremely quickly. You can almost ignore Physique and base weapon damage, so you can go for special effects instead of raw damage (I wouldn't ignore Physique entirely, but you can deemphasize it). Equip a Vamp Blade and you restore your shields at the same time (the Charge Weapon bonus damage counts), making your shields effectively inexhaustible while you're still doing damage to theirs. Charge Weapon also lasts for the entire fight and persists through phases (Round 1 and 2 of the Captain Khorgan fight and Roz, for example).

Personally, I go for Deflector Regeneration because it nets you more energy (40 instead of 33).

The problem with Deflector Regeneration is that once your shields are full you don't get the Energy boost, so I use the other one.

Charge Weapon is awesome and the better shielding at level 2 is impressive, so pure shields and melee is probably your best bet. I don't use the best equipment, but I think it's pretty close.

Custom Shock Gear
Shock Bow(super weak, I know)
Augmentation Weave
Shield Bracers
Pirate Prototype Shield

You can use pretty much anything, though.

I think that was a bug that got fixed. Or maybe it got changed in a rebalancing pass. In any case, you do get the energy regen if your shields are full.

Tested against a Gray Goo on Tarkus (they prefer lust attacks).

Deflector Regeneration on shield techs can be overpowered as hell. You basically drop a heal over time on your (substantial) shields. Makes a huge difference in a DPS race.

That's good, I was super annoyed by that last time I played, so I edited it to the other ability, but if it works now then I'll switch back.

Additionally, at the moment, the best way to maximize stat gains via anything that causes Soreness (i.e. Ten Ton Gym) is to wait until Zheng Shi and pick up a suit of Augment-Weave Armor, since that doubles Soreness recovery when resting/sleeping.

If you eat the food at the roadhouse/brothel, it reduces soreness.

Gotta eat big to get big.

Secret asked specifically for "optimal" builds, so I felt it was worthwhile to mention.
Also, considering the Augment-Weave Armor is easily one of, if not the best, armor pieces for Tech Specialists, your argument against my suggestion actually works in my favor in this specific situation. Not to mention that you're going to want to wait until level 10 to start grinding stats because that's when you stop gaining them naturally, so you probably won't be that far away from Zheng Shi and the armor regardless.

The Dumb4cum perk increases max intelligence, so it improves the wulfe and several tech specialist skills. Requires drinking cum periodically.

I'm pretty sure the Fuck Sense perk combined with the max Libido of 200 both outclasses and overrides Dumb4Cum. I don't know if there's anything that intelligence as a stat is used for that Fuck Sense doesn't cover with Libido (please correct me if there are), but in terms of the Tech Spec abilities themselves, Fuck Sense provides a far greater bonus. It's kinda just up to whether or not you're willing to suffer the side effects of such absurd libido in exchange for a boost in overall effectiveness with the class.

Dumb4cum is better because it lets you go over the 5 stat points per level cap, something Fuck Sense doesn't.

Fuck Sense is the perk that does it. The exact mechanics are you use the higher of your intelligence or the inverse of your intelligence (so the lower it is, the higher it counts as) + libido/10. "Bimbo intelligence" is capped to 5*level however, so it will never exceed the max for your level.

Quick example, Clara the Curious Collegiate is level 10 and has 50 intelligence. For all tech specialist abilities, 50 int is the number used.

Meanwhile, Bob the Brainless Bimbo has 0 intelligence, 200 libido, and the Fuck Sense perk. Bob's Bimbo Intelligence would be (50 (max int) - 0 (current int) +1 (it's in the code because I don't know why) + 20 (200 libido divided by 10), or 50-0+1+20=71. However, the max intelligence at level 10 is 50, so Bob is treated as having 50, not 71, int for all class abilities.

True, but if you're going to wait that long, you want to be effective enough to get to Zheng Shi and defeat the Cyberpunk Security Operatives to get the armor in the first place.

The big thing with slow stat gains is they greatly decrease in effectiveness as you reach your level based stat cap, so you want to avoid grinding near the stat cap until you've reached level 10, so you'll spend awhile in 'good enough' territory.

I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say with that comment. I'm merely suggesting that you just go through the game doing everything as normal and then just max everything out at the end once you get the chance. Nothing about what I said has any impact on the early game unless you want to grind up your stats early, which you can definitely do if you want to, but is really just a waste of time because TiTS isn't exactly trying to be challenging with its gameplay.

I'm saying if you want to wait until the Augment-Weave Armor, you need to grind stats, you need a character that can defeat the Security Operatives with what you get from levelling. Roz and the Rat's Raiders are more dangerous, I think. I agree that's not hard. Maxing your Intelligence and main attack stat is enough. (In testing, I beat Bored Jumpers with Tam-Wolf II, only using the Wait command with a Drone Tech, without dropping shields. I wasn't even using the Prototype Pirate Shield or A-W Armor. You have to be level 10 before it's reliable, though.)

As for stat grinding timing, I was slightly disagreeing on 'why' you want to wait for level 10, but I agree that largely you should.

I'm probably trying to add nuance that doesn't actually matter.

I use a Tech Specialist. Though it seems that they were intended for range, melee is what they are gods at. You go for stats that you think would useful for your melee output. For gear I currently run: Custom Shock Gear, Shock Bow, Modded Yellow Clothes, Reaper Armaments Mk 1 Shield Generator (some say go pirate shield but I forgot the reason why I chose this shield over that), and a Shelter Drone (the shelter Drone doesn't replace the Attack Drone if you get that perk). As for undies there are some Frost Resist and and heat resist ones you could get but depending on the size of your character it might be safer to go Hardlight.

I find it odd that not one single person has mentioned the Dancing Flashblade yet. I actually use the Custom Shock Gear myself because I find it way more aesthetically fitting for my tech spec character and it has an inherent stun effect that I really enjoy, but if we're talking about optimal gear, the Dancing Flashblade does approximately 30% more damage, has a ridiculous +8 to accuracy, and has 4 more crit chance than the Shock Gear (which is already no slouch with a whopping +6%). Combine that with the fact that all tech specs already get free stun on demand from the Paralyzing Shock skill and there's basically no comparison between the two weapons if optimization is what you're after. I know you only get it late in the game, but it's EASILY the best melee energy weapon in the entire game (which really makes it the best energy weapon in the game considering the Saurmorian Railgun puts all other ranged weapons to shame and it deals kinetic damage) and should have been one of the first things people mentioned when discussing optimal builds for tech specs.

The Shelter Drone also effectively renders you immune to Uveto's cold. (50% is the threashold for Frozen Tundra.)

However, if I'm reading this right:
* Resistance, Kinetic: 60 % HP, 45 % Shields
* Resistance, Electric: 60 % HP, -25 % Shields
* Resistance, Burning: 60 % HP, 0 % Shields
* Resistance, Freezing: 60 % HP, 0 % Shields
* Resistance, Corrosive: 60 % HP, 0 % Shield
* Resistance, Poison: 60 % HP, 0 % Shields

The 60% resistance only applies when taking HP damage. The -50 Shields might not be worth it, unless you're facing something that ignores Shields to begin with.

Dancing Flashblade is a great weapon, but if you're using Charge Weapon, base stats don't really matter that much. Also, you have to do Akane's quest, which is not to everyone's taste.

My point was that the Dancing Flashblade wasn't just raw damage. 30% more damage on its own is already idiotic, but it's the crit chance and accuracy advantage that really sets it apart. It mostly just comes down to how highly you value the Shock Gear's stun chance, which I really don't considering the class has its own build in stun ability (and personal preference, of course).
You are very right about Akane's quest not being to everyone's tastes, though, but it's really not that hard to just click straight through it just so you can get the weapon because, as I keep saying, the original question was "So what are some of the optimal tech specialist builds?"

According to the wiki the Reaper Shield has a Shield defense of three and the pirate one has a defense of 0 but with a 15% burn resist (which honestly what you need to worry about is electric attacks more and more shielding). I don't know if the stat is hidden or not or even has a affect but I can say at this point of the game nobody has made it past my shields. The Drone was incase anyone did make it past my shields I won't go down before recharging. There is also -3 evasion for Pirate and No Penalty for Reaper and 15% increase in kinetic resistance compared to Pirate. I guess it comes down to preference so I dunno

More shields is always better than stronger shields. This is primarily because it's easier to stack shield bonuses rather than shield defense.

Honestly, shield defense as a stat barely matters. All you're doing is subtracting 3 damage from every hit you take, which really doesn't matter in the slightest against the enemies that you are actually concerned about surviving against.

By stun ability, do you mean Paralyzing Shock? If so, you're using a turn and Energy to use it, where a Stun chance on the weapon itself lets you attack each turn. While you could take Deadly Shock at level 9 to have it also do (a respectable amount of) damage, if you've already decided on a Drone build, you're probably taking Drone Control instead. Custom Shock Gear also has the Crushing flag, which is interesting (not that relevant at the moment, but potentially useful later), 3 evade and 10 fortification (bonus HP).
