I've noticed for many months now that the game has been really laggy for me, but most others I've asked about it haven't really noticed. I've been trying to get to the bottom of it for a long time and I've finally figured it out.
Essentially, the more active stances there are in combat, the more time it takes for the game to actually process the damage calculations and step combat forward to the next character's turn during a round. This can easily be observed by harpy combat always being a little laggy, but you can confirm it by having a full party with active at-will stances and going into any combat. Every single character's turn is delayed, almost like the game is freezing for a split second, and this delay becomes approximately twice as long for every character that takes their turn in a round, until you end a round and start a new one, at which point whatever bug causes this delay is "cleansed" and combat runs at a normal speed for the next couple turns.
Because this is a text-based game with no animations during combat, this was incredibly hard to get to the bottom of, and is even harder to notice if you don't put as many stances as possible on your team like I do. I promise you this is a real bug, and has a pretty big impact on the game's performance during combat.
