Keros might have taken the form he has after consuming a bunch of kitsune victims. Or perhaps he liked the look.

Up until now every god seems to have taken a form that resembles the victims they were absorbing at the time they awoke.

I had this thought, too; in fact, I think the wraith that became him could very well have been involved in the attack on Kiyoko's den, maybe even have been the one that "killed" her body. That would be another reason behind him turning Komari into a yasha: he knows (or at least suspects) her liege is still alive on some level but still feels guilty about separating them like that (Like Nareva did over nearly killing Ander and Ria), and making her practically immortal gives the best chance of reuniting the two eventually.

IIRC, Kiyoko is one of the descendants of Chizuru, who had kits with Keros. I assume that by this point in the Godswar Keros already existed in his kitsune form, for him to be able to sire kits.

Actually, the Keros that sired Chizuru's children is not the Keros we meet in-game; the latter is the one I was talking about, while the former is the one who generated all the pre-Godswar legends of Keros and might not have even existed in the first place.

Though now that I think about it, I recall talks with Kiyoko where Keros (re)appearing to the public of Kitsuhon was the primary point of discussion, and that Kiyoko, Komari etc. were out in the Frost Marches by Keros' orders; that would completely invalidate my previous post. Then again, IIRC Komari accompanied Keros on his massive re-shaping of the Kitsuhon government after the Godswar was over, and I thought he would've done that as soon as he appeared rather than waiting until some overseas problem was resolved. Either I'm missing/forgetting something, or the canon timeline of events changed between when Kiyoko's initial content was written and when Komari's was written. @The Observer, what's the case?
