 Just let your handy AI Hand So take care of most of the ship's functions. Anno is a scientist and Bess apparently is capable of tuning up your ship too.

Oh yeah I'd forgotten Anno was actually a scientist (blinsided by the cuteness I guess). But I was actually thinking that if we ever got a very big ship, part of the upgrades could be hiring techs and engineers and helmsmen we would interact a bit with and who would help run the ship smoothly.

+1. Space combat is, at this point, a "When Geddy and I can pencil in a couple hours to sit down and hash it out." Followed by a month or two of design work and me hammering out space encounters. Is definitely the priority before Uveto, though.

The Captain Khorgan fight on the stellar tether seems like a good baseline for space encounters, it doesn't require a lot of thought to get in the way of the porn since a ship computer would warn of incomming fire like the codex did, and the rest of the systems and keywords can be ported right over.

Though there's still a bunch of stuff to hash out like lust, or boarding parties (for both sides) and all the ship design stuff if you went that way.

Nah, space encounters will probably look much more like a streamlined version of Silence's spessfites.

That works too, I just tend to obsess over game design. And space combat is something I've been waiting for since I heard about TiTs.

Nya..I more think in this fight it was about some warining about incoming super-mega-ultra-fabulous-killing enemy attack. Probably we see more such warining in futre boss fight and mayb something similar we get into space combat...but well in sapce would be harder to come with such treatening attack been realistic and potentialy dangerous when ignored than on ground. Probably something with 3rd dimmention of fight added fully here.

As for space fights system itself I start to belive we not see it ingame before nearest New Year :(

Start by learning the power of necromancy, then use your new mastery of the dark arts to resurrect a thread from a year and a half ago.

Then don't go anywhere, because you still can't upgrade the ship.

Um, mind quickly reminding me what the biggest ships capacity will have, because at current, the tiny RV is holding 13 people, including pets and the player

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing talk about the first ship apparently being able to hold everyone at the time of the implementation of the ship mechanics, but that's probably changed due to how ridiculous it would be.

As far as maximum capacity, we're probably going to get a capital ship as an option at some point, where room is unlikely to be a problem.

Wow, it's a necromancy of a necromancy. Necromancy-ception.

Anyway, the very biggest ship will have functionally unlimited capacity. The current ship will not be able to hold the amount it does now once new ships are implemented; it will be reduced to a more realistic amount, along the lines of four or five two people (plus the PC) at maximum.

Unless something has changed, the starting ship will hold two crew members. Gedan did mention the possibility of a test ship that would be able to hold everybody.

I reccomend adding some of the eve online ship classes. Specifically carriers, supercarriers, and titans. Cause nothing is better than stealing/earning/buying an 18+km giant space ship the has ammo more expensive than a EVE battleship. In the famous words of CCP, "A titan isn't supposed to be cost effective, it's a giant dick.

How can it be necromancy when it hasn't even been 2 weeks since the last post? I thought there was a limit to how many weeks a thread is inactive for it to be considered necromancy.

Ships that are bigger than a small moon would be hell to code with such a small team. I imagine the absolute largest we'll be getting will be something along the size of the Javelin from Star Citizen. Less than 0.002% the size of an 18+ km ship. I'm sorry to dash your dreams against the ground, but it just isn't going to happen.

Yeah we want more ships but fuck we don't need to be captaining fucking city ships. I can see at most any large ships we get to be from 1000 meters or maybe up a little higher than that but nothing in the double digits of kms. 1 km is 1000 meters after all btw.

@Zevos Given that those ships are all at most the size of a long range fighter, it's unlikely that those will be the only ships we get, if we even get those specific ships.

I never saw any sort of confirmation of that. In fact he jumped the gun on making that doc. Hell, I'm pretty sure the main team will pump out at least a few each to start us off with, not to mention Kiro's Leaf maybe at some point.

They (devs) I think said their already got those few new ships more or less ready so it now waiting when mechanics for space flight and ship management will leave space region called "soon(tm)".
