I recently found out that you could recruit Shekka but don't really understand the process. What I wanted to know was how can I damage my shield emitter and what do i have to do after that?

I'm not aware of it having to do with your shield. You have to talk to her about her plans for 'fixing' the raskvel, and she'll send you a message about it shortly after. Then you basically have to keep going back and giving her creds to fund it until she's done, at which point you can recruit her.

It has nothing to do with your shields, you gotta do the steather teather quest. Once finished and gotten the probe Shekka sends you a message to help her people and you gotta give her money to help with it a couple times, when you finish every thing she gives you another message asking if she can come on your ship.

The Shekka recruitment will also take a good chunk of in game time and credits.

Complete the probe quest on Tarkus. Exhaust all her talk options and she'll send you and email. Like UN.404 sait it costs quite a bit of credits and a bit of time. Not something for early game but later on you can be practically drowning in credits so that's not so bad.
