Act 2 Warrior Build: Parry this you filthy casual!

Intro

The question of builds gets asked quite often,
so here's a gelatin's take on a Tank/DPS that excels even on [Dark] difficulty.

I present to you... the Casul Perrier [sic]. Yes, you are the casul.

The professional Perriers get access to (1)Blade Block.

The best you can do is (6)Deflection from equipping the [Dawnsword].
Sad :( I guess your weeb stat is just too low.
But don't worry.
This jelly will still teach you how to eat faces.
(Faces, not feces, you coprophagic fuck)

Through the power of friendship [Etheryn & Viviane] aka (2)Blessing + (2)Elemental Fury,
(add (5)Arcane Blessing + (5)Aurora Arrow if you are feeling extra spicy),
you'll be shanking enemies with a roygbiv's worth of elemental damage,

Meanwhile by stacking penetration resist % and high armor,
you'll be shrugging off attacks with the determination of Grandma cashing in on an expired coupon.

Don't be surprised if enemies do less damage to you than what you'd auto-regen through your [Mare's Ring].
Also enjoy being functionally immune to [Sunder Armor][Disarm][Silence] and Blight damage (95% resist).

Twice a round, you get to parry weapon attacks against you and riposte while juiced up by (2)Blessing [+100 atk pwr].

CEDRIC from the Colosseum wants to fight!
CEDRIC from the Colosseum wants to give you battered wife syndrome?
CEDRIC used (2)Pummel!

It's not very effective...

for CEDRIC.

Anyways here's the build.

Min/Maxing Boons

Go to the Vulperine Village, Windy Peaks. Talk to the Natalia, the priestess to apply [Sorran Blessing], a party wide Agility boon.
Afterwards drink [Honey mead] to override the redundant Agi buff for a boost to Cunning.

For extra spiciness:
Apply [Blood Iris] before a battle. Give [Conjurer's Concoction] to Ryn & Viv.

How to use: A guide to your average encounter

Round 1
Champion: (6)Bullrush to knock down the enemy healer or high danger target (think someone who uses AoE stun like (2)Grease)
Also establishes high threat even on a miss so enemies target your champ for (6)Deflection. Very important!
Ryn: (2)Blessing
Viv: (2)Elemental Fury on your champ

Round 2
Champ: (2)Blessing boosted (2)Cleave
Ryn: [Attack] while blessed if no one needs healing
Viv: Summon (1)Wolf Spirit, the bestest boi!

Round 3+ - Cleanup
Ryn: Heal as needed, if not, poke with stick, buff on cooldown
Viv: Set everything on fire with (3)Immolation.
Champ: Attack or (2)Lightning Fist to stun something with a really stupid looking face.
Looking at you Ocean Sunfish.

Ocean-sunfish_Mola-mola_24medium-960x640 (2).jpg

How to use: A guide to [Dark mode] Captain Eyslaine who has 60% damage reduction (before any of his other def stats are factored in), 4 actions and regens 72+hp per round, and oh yeah unbuffed attacks against him do ~20dmg.

This is it. An enemy worthy of your ultimate powers!

Get the (1)Spirit Wolf out before (2)Blessing + (5)Aurora Arrow/(5)Arcane Blessing.
The bonus from (2)Blessing affects the output of other powers even when (2)Blessing itself has worn off.

While getting setup with the power of friendship, rainbows and whatnot, your party may find itself low on HP.
And poor Ryn needs to cast (5)Aurora Arrow before her buff runs out.

Fear not, that why your champ brought (5)Inspiration to heal everyone to full and give them 20% bonus HP for the rest of combat.
Good luck losing threat after that! (You don't want that. You're tanking goddammit!)

tl:dr

Pros
  • Very high survivability & also counter attacks
  • Protects your delicate waifus & soft skinned husbandos
  • Mixes Penetrating/Crushing/Magic damage. Effective vs all enemy types
  • High damage when buffed by allies
  • Rechargeable crowd control. KOs faceless ninja girls beautifully

Cons
  • Unremarkable damage when unbuffed
  • You will not be shaking your well sculpted buttcheeks at your enemies

Conclusion

Well you made it to the end... Good talk.
Use this knowledge as you will.

Interesting. I play a fairly similar build but instead of Tank/DPS, I play a Leadership Tank.

My Primary is Ashe paired with the Shield of Absorbtion.
Armor is Conqueror's Breastplate
Cloak is Cloak of the Deeps
Swap Lucky Strike with Guldring

Powers are
Shielded Stance
Holy Shock
Cleave
Rime Veil
Unyielding

Level 7: Tough Skin

This build makes you incredibly Tanky and your companions super effective. Unfortunately, it's not entirely fullproof since on the offensive it's not that strong and Arona spikes her threat so high so actually draws it away from the PC. This only really becomes annoying with the Queen Alissa fight where if Arona goes down then it devolves into an unbeatable stalemate.

Btw: You can't stake blessings and booze.

Excellent build though I am curious what exactly is the stat distribution? Seems like this would benefit a lot from a high presence or willpower, but also through a good amount of strength and toughness.

Agreed. Leadership is such a strong stat, and investing in it takes away your champ's own threat generation.

Food for thought.
Have you considered running (1)Lay on Hands? Honestly it's the best threat management tool.
Steals aggro from however is running too hot and heals decently too! Even with no investment in spellpower.

Yes good point.
24hr Boons don't stack.
The reason why you'd want to get the [Sorran Blessing] first is so Etheryn & Viviane maxes out their agility,
then your champion overrides the agility buff with something else since it'd be redundant for a warrior.

I'll make an edit to reflect that.

Core Stats: Strength, Agility, Toughness. Drink for Cunning or Presence.

If you wanted to swap in some powers that scaled off %spellpower, then drinking for Willpower would be a good choice.

If you really want to min/max - chose these setups at character creation:

+2 Str/+1 Tgh -> Lupine Warrior with Soldier background
+3 Tgh -> Orc Warrior with Barbarian background

I gave it a shot and I think I really like it. Closes up the Arona problem. Does make threat management a more active thing thou.
