"Indeed I should... Farewell for now, Elder..." She spins on her heels and turns to leave, giving the old coot a little wave from behind.

"I shall return with the head of this beast, rest assured." Mia leaves as well, carrying 5 of the rations. [how much weight are they, just 1 per 5 like with dungeon rations? or 0 weight?]

[Rolled a 5+5+1][What here is useful or valuable to me?] Knowing something isn't right here, Derek tries to decrypt the secrets buried in this village.

While the others made ready to leave town, Derek decided to take one last look around. Aside from the arrival of him and his companions, the village didn't seem to be expecting anything big at the moment. Although, given the cold looks he was getting from the villagers it was probably best not to tarry. Just as he was about to rejoin his friends, a strange sight caught his eye as he was walking past the village general store. Almost hidden in the narrow ally between the store, and another building, was a small nondescript door leading into the back of the general store. Above which was a simple wooden sign that said 'Melmen's Magics'.

"Well then, isn't this very, very, very convenient?" Derek lifted his hood and entered the store.

Inside the door was a very room, little more than a closet. The floor and walls were bare, and the only light came from a candelabra tat sat on a glass case that stretched from wall to wall on the other side of the room. Behind the case was a door which clearly lead to the rest of the general store, as well as a bald, rather pudgy, little man with thick glasses who was reading a book. Upon noticing that someone had entered, he dropped the book and stood up. "Ah, a customer. What can I do... for... you?" Upon realizing that he didn't recognize the one who had entered the little man's face sank a bit. "Oh, wait. You're one of those travelers that just came into town. Well, that's just great. Here I was hoping you wouldn't notice my shop." With grumble, he reached into the display case and pulled out a rolled up piece of paper, and three glass vials containing a bubbling pink liquid. "Here," he said, pushing them toward Derek. "A potent battle scroll, and something to keep you warm at night. The mayor said we had to part with whatever we could spare, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Now get out of here, go on SHOO!"

"Ohh, I'm loving the edgy demeanor! Anyways that's beside the point, listen, oh-so-kindhearted shopkeeper, if I were entirely focused on melee weapons I wouldn't be wearing this now would I?" As if to emphasise the point, he holds out his arms to show that the only thing stopping him from getting slashed in half is some thick fabric, useful, but not enough for a warrior. "Now, I'm a magic user, and I was wondering if you sell any spells, powerful or practical, I'm simply wishing to expand my tomes."

"Spells? Are you daft?" the pudgy man asked. "What do you think is on that scroll? Now, unless you want to purchase some eye of newt, I think we're done here."

With their business concluded in Ingnam, the group set out to find the dragon's lair. Following Numor's directions, it was indeed not long before the path became treacherous as it wound it's way up into the foothills of the mountains. At times the trail passed through thick patches of brambles. Other times, it would disappear under streams or fallen trees, or simply narrow to the point of being nonexistent. Fortunately, Elliana managed to keep them on track, and just as the sun was beginning to set they saw it.

The mouth of the cave resembled nothing so much as a giant mouth in the shear rock-face, as if the mountain had become hungry and now sought to consume them. Irregularly sized stalagmites lined the bottom edge, while two long stalactites hung like fangs from the upper. Just looking at the yawning crevice was enough to send a chill down one's spine.

[Gamer, roll+int to figure out what spell is on that scroll. Beyond that, who wants to go in first?]

[Elliana is naturally curious, so she probably will be first] "I still don't believe there is any dragon to speak of. That Elder gave me the creeps." She prattles on, as she continues to the cave.

"To lie about the presence of a dragon, it seems like whatever is in that cave may be more dangerous than a dragon. We should be on our guard for sure" Mia follows Elliana up the trail.

"Of course... but why would he cover for something more dangerous, it makes no sense... I'm beginning to suspect a trap, so keep your eyes peeled." She watches the road ahead, making occasional peeks at the edges of the trail. "Good thing we asked for no escort."

"while I would rather not accuse the elder of iieing to us, this place does give off a rather forboding aura. I would also think that remains of it's prey would be here at the entrance...or maybe it doesn't leave anything behind....hmm. Regardless, Elliana would you mind scouting ahead? I could turn you invisible so avoid some of the danger should a dragon really be in there."

"I would rather we didn't split up just incase the elder is telling the truth.... but i understand stealth is a key factor so i will wait here." Mia doesn't seem comfortable with the idea of the group splitting up but finds a log to sit on, settling down to wait for the scouts return.

"I understand your concern Mia, but to have some forward information before us slower folks move in would be very helpful. Like if a rock trap is inside a ways or something." She moves over and rests her hand on Elliana's shoulder. "May the moon hide you from your enemies." Slowly, a soft glow wraps around Elliana.

[The srd doesn't say anything about making a roll for this spell, so I will just assume it went off normally]

"I'm sorry Derek but I can only cast this on one person...even more so while it is active, I can't cast my more miracles. So please, just be patient." She looks where she knows Elliana was standing. "Ok dear, we can't see you any more. Keep in mind that any offensive action will cancel the affect. Good luck! May the moon watch over you."

For a brief second, Castella can feel something soft on her cheek. The sound of footsteps quickly follow, as Elliana makes her way into the cave. [cant find anything for stealthy movement or sneaking]

She puts a hand on her cheek and smiles. 'Such a sweet girl' she thinks as she sits next to Mia.

Mia looks around at the forest surrounding them, unease seeping into her voice. "Y'know, it is far too quiet around here, and it certainly doesn't look like a dragon, no matter how young has been tromping through here. No scorch marks, no claw marks, not even a single tree out of place." She bats away a fly that is buzzing around her face. "If Elliana isn't back in an hour or so, we should go after her. Something doesn't seem right in this place and the feeling has been getting worse as we get closer to the cave, Brisingr doesn't like it either..."

"I have to agree with you. Something is very wrong here and now that you mention it...this place doesn't look like it has seen a resident in years. One hour, then we go in after her."

"...maybe we should've equipped her with something more than just a bow..."
