Recent forum problems.

Seems like this is the second time somebody has spammed threads like this is what I assume to be Korean (sorry if I'm wrong).

Is there anything that can be done about it?
Maybe make it impossible to type in certain languages?
I hope that doesn't seem racist, but it would help end this guy from always coming back and spamming his threads.
Since I know he will keep doing it...

Something to keep people from posting new topics so often would work. Maybe make it so people have to wait 10-15 minutes after posting one topic to post another. That would stop the spamming and give people time to report the bad post before another one pops up.

afaik its because somebody recently posted a workaround to recaptcha that is most fucking hilarious:

load up page
find element to trigger audio captcha, keep trying until it actually gives you an audio captcha
download file from captcha
convert file to wav
use google speech-to-text api to acquire code
insert code into page

They just ignore it, then they seem to try and find ways to charge the users money...

Recaptcha for everyone is too much, and if you set a post limit, well, they can just post more. We already have a 30 second flood control.

Also, unrelated, but I wonder how hard it'd be to write a plugin that crawls and counts posts given a username.

Well making any more complicated way to get in here will still make any korean or chinese break it. I eman like those nations have doing all fadter than other ones. About users form those countries maybe if their would have way to reach Gedan in case of been falsely accused of been blocked due to ip form "restricted" area of globe.

Or maybe just when cutting ip's to check if it possible if some of it i connected say...to user that have at least 100 posts made here. Not many spammers would go so far beofre been stopped and blocked here, right?

On that joke matter above: wouldn't that made RP-ers mad for not been see how their counts rising and rising. I feel totaly fine knowing I would never pass any of them in post count. I not able to post like 50 posts per day in RP section anyway without it been more gibberish than mine or noobie posts at times.

I recently made an account in a forum that made it to where you had to message an admin to activate your account.
Until you did, you were unable to post or make threads.
Maybe something similar could be used?

Sorry if this is a dumb idea.

Edit: Also until this slight situation is fixed an admin should check the forums a few times a day.
It seems another bot is back spamming threads in the "General Bullshit" section.

It's policed fairly handily. Also; you don't need to report thread spam, tho do hit the ones posting in random threads or something.

Seeing this kinda reminds me of my days of playing Blade and Soul when it first got released for NA. Same thing happened with their forums as well... Good times.

How about a 10 minute flood control for members made in the last 3 days? No Unicode in thread titles? SFS plugin is capable of monitoring obvious spam. Don't remember how good it was though, only ever used it on vB.

a) We notice the spam posts before we notice the reports
b) Cleaning it up is a 2-click deal on a user basis

Being as my RP has really slowed since we all have jobs now and our DM is having to do her best in college I wouldn't mind post counts being hidden. As much as I miss having 20k posts on FenForums 1 the idea that I'll eventually have more posts than all of TiE combined is just depressing

"Trapped in Equestria" the RP that made me go from barely browsing these forums to hanging out here as one of my primary sites.

In the heyday of FenForums 1 TiE, the TiE Sign-up Thread, and TiE Side Stories were perpetually the top 3 new posts thread since there was always at least two people posting. We easily had hundreds of thousands of posts in the main thread alone.

But now the DM is having to focus on college, one proficient yet disruptive RPer got booted out, another dropped off the face of the planet, and we all got jobs.

I'm still active on the forums though so at this rate I'll surpass the new TiE in post counts eventually and that will be sad.
