Question about future content from the Grave of Saints

Any idea if the Jade Teardrop is going to be used for anything specific? If there isn't anything then I would like to have the option to put it back where I found it, since it is heavily implied to be someone's soul.

Equipping the ring of fate has you slot the jade tear in it, and going to bed triggers a scene along with a new power.

Yeah, it already has a use even if the Power it unlocks isn't currently usable due to the level cap. Your options are to leave it in the door where you need to put it to complete the quest, or take it for yourself. You don't get take-backsies later.

Or, y'know, if you're squeamish about robbing from the dead maybe don't accept the quest in the first place.
