Playing with electricity for fun and profit

Bit of a stupid idea here, but I thought I'd throw it up on the forum and see if there was any interest.

I had a dream a couple of nights ago that I was playing some kind of sexual space exploration game (fully 3D, as we all know TiTS is not, but this is the only game like it I've ever played), and my companion and I were randomly exploring a planet when we stumbled across an old planet-exploration habitat (think the camp from The Martian). It was a single-family home, in clear disarray, but everything inside was decades if not hundreds of years old, from the first time humanity left Earth and began exploring the stars. Despite this, it was all remarkably well-preserved, and the old generator still worked, providing power to the site. As we went from room to room, searching the belongings of this family that disappeared, I kept finding these travel plug adapters. I guess these folks had a lot of equipment from different parts of the world.

At this point, I decided to check the forum to see if these things were worth anything or if I should just leave them. Then I read that plugging them all into each other and then into the mains would start a fire. Skeptically, I decided to give it a try.

The kitchen is one of the rooms closest to the main entrance, and thankfully that was where I decided to engage in this bit of dumbassery. Yes, it did start a fire, sending my character and my companion scrambling out of the hab for dear life. She managed to get back on the ship. I managed to get out of the front door.

Then the generator exploded.

Whatever that thing was using for fuel must have been damn powerful, or the planet's gravity must have been damn weak, because the explosion threw both me and my ship into orbit. Thank God my companion got into the pilot's seat, because she was able to pick me up and drag me inside before I flew off into the infinite expanse and suffocated before I froze.

I think this could make for a funny event. Perhaps while hunting for pirates, Steele or a crew member spots an odd white dome on the surface of a nearby uninhabited planet. Going down to investigate, Steele and their crew (if they have any on board) find an ancient Terran exploration hab, as described above. It consists of an airlock entryway, a kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms each with an en suite, and a study. One of the ensuites or the kitchen randomly give a health refill, and the study contains a small cache of credits described as an old Terran artifact that Steele Tech will be interested in. The other rooms largely contain flavor text about the family that lived here yonks ago. Travel adapters worth 10 credits each can be found randomly distributed in the rooms, and when you find two, you can Use one to create an item called "two travel adapters plugged into each other" (description: "This just feels right."; worth 15 credits, because whoever buys it is going to have to pull the damn things apart) which replaces the two adapters you had. When you find a third, you can Use it to create an item called "three travel adapters plugged into each other" ("Now we're talking."; 20 credits), replacing the previous two items. When you've done that, you can plug them into the outlets in any of the rooms, except for the airlock entryway. Attempting to do this warns you, explicitly, that this is a really stupid idea and it will not go well for you.

Plugging them into the kitchen or living room plays out like in my dream—Steele starts the fire and barely makes it out of the house (if they have at least one crewmate) or into the ship (if they are alone) before the generator explodes and launches our intrepid hero and their craft into space. 0 health, 1 shield, and hopefully a good laugh from the player who has been reminded not to do stupid shit with the power grid. Plugging them into the bedrooms, study, or ensuites, however, means the fire spreads to consume the airlock entryway before Steele can get there, and they have a sinking realization that the fire is going to kill them just before the generator takes care of it in a more expedited manner. Game over. Hopefully still funny, though less so if you didn't save at the warning screen.

You can, at any time, leave without blowing the place up. Leaving the hab intact allows you to randomly find it again later, with the health and credits caches replenished; if you sold any of the adapters, you'll be able to find them again, too. If you blow the place up, though, that's it; the event is removed from the game.

As I said, this is a stupid one, but I enjoy when games challenge the player to not do something so obviously harmful to themselves, and I especially enjoy when players can't resist. What do we think?
