Leothran TFs

So when you use Leothran Herbs and TF your various parts into patterned furs, are they supposed to have a random chance to be anything? Or are Leothrans supposed to be tied to their stereotypical leopard pattern?
Asking seriously here because my attempt at one says she's got striped fur, like a tiger - as seen in the phrase "Stripes adorn them in a tiger-like pattern," part of the appearance paragraph.

And on a side note: who and why did they decide that Vari is the only place to get Leothran Herbs, and that it's impossible to get any when you knock her up? It's a pain in the ass.
