I was playing the other day and I noticed in her portrait by DCL that she has a little bell on her leg. I don't remember if it's mentioned anywhere why she has this or if this is just an artistic design choice that hasn't been mentioned in any scenes but it created a mental image in my brain of Kinu being a tricksy sneaky lil' fox kid who kept jumping out and scaring her mom for a laugh that Kiyoko just decided to put bells on all her children going forward. Especially considering the bell is on her ankle because if it was on wrist or neck, she could just grab it and muffle it while she's sneaking around the house.

It's mentioned. On phone, so not going in depth
Kiyoko put it on so when she was running around she could find and keep track of her because she was an energetic handful. But she loves it, and later as an adult keeps it. Even letting it out over the years as she grew.
Actually Kiyoko mentions the bell lacks the clapper inside (your character also notes this when you take in Kinu's appearance). So it doesn't ring, and never has.

Child:
"Her clothes are in shades of white and blue to go with her silvery-white hair and fur, and a purple anklet's been looped about her ankle, complete with a small bell. You get the feeling that there's some significance to it — it certainly isn't a bell proper, as there's no clapper within to make it ring; perhaps you should ask Kiyoko about that sometime." (emphasis mine)

Grown (both Hime and Inari Shojo use the same line for this):
"By her right ankle, you spy the same bell anklet that she's worn since she was a kit — the strap's been retooled several times to accommodate her as she's grown, but the bell is still the exact same one she's been wearing ever since you first met her."

Asking Kiyoko about it (one of the random conversation options when talking to her about Kinu IIRC) will result in her telling you that the anklet is just a traditional charm, and she added the bell to give it an artistic touch.

You did have a question you wanted to ask...
"Yes?"

Where did Kinu's bell anklet come from?

"Oh, I made it a couple of days after she was born. It's a sort of good-luck charm — it's meant to keep the wearer tightly locked to life, you see. As for the bell, I just thought it was a nice touch to what was otherwise a plain anklet."

You see. It's just that you were wondering what it was for, since there's nothing in it to make it ring.

"It's not supposed to be functional. The anklet grows along with her, you see, so it's never too tight — although our daughter could take it off any time at this point, she doesn't want to. By now, I suppose you could say it's a part of her."

That's one way to put it.

"I wouldn't put too much thought into it, really," Kiyoko assures you. "It's just an accessory she likes to wear, that's all."
